View Full Version : Struggling to submit to the Lord on an everyday basis

How many of us on a daily basis struggle with submitting to God's Will in our lives? I know that personally my human failings makes it so that I have to personally be on constant alert not to give into my wants instead of God's. This seems to be a daily struggle for everyone nowadays with all that we encounter in today's world, would you all not agree?
Satan sure has a way of trying his darndest to come inbetween us and God in everyway he possibly can.
But what are some ways that we can overcome his influence that constantly attacks our lives and our senses?
Well I think the most promising way is to firstly believe in God and His strength to overcome all things, then to have Faith in that. The Apostles once asked Christ what works they could do for God in this cause.
Joh 6:28 They said therefore unto him: What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?
Joh 6:29 Jesus answered and said to them: This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he hath sent.
So to believe in God was a work in and of itself, and if you believe then what comes along with belief? Faith in the Lord.
What are some of the ways that we can possibly work to strengthen our Faith and belief in the Lord at all times?
And I ask too is it at times easy or hard to believe in the Lord? Do we wane from our Faith in Him and what are some ways we can overcome this?

I don't read many Christian testimonies but when I do, I find them to be a valuable source of faith and inspiration. I suppose that's one of the reasons why God gives us testimonies, as well as for evangelism. So it's well worth reading them to help build oneself up.
Some Christian testimonies that I have read are:
1) Doreen Irvine, From Witchcraft to Christ
2) Brother Yun, The Heavenly Man
3) Jackie Pullinger, Chasing the Dragon
4) Nicky Cruz, Run Baby Run

Praying for you to really catch on fire of Jesus. Sister, if the devil is whackin' you then that must mean you're gettin' closer to God/Jesus... and that ole' slyfoot hates that!
KNOW that the victory is already won and that we Christians are already in line for big promotions. Hang tough... find spirit filled people and fill your life with them. You're gonna get thru this... and thrive in Christ.
Much success.

It's funny, but I have no problem trusting God with the big decisions. It's the small ones I have problems with. Example - a couple of years ago God told me to sell my summer home. It was a condo duplex which my brother owned 1/2 and I owned the other. He wasn't ready to sell - we'd get more if we both sold both halves! Well, this year the message was loud and clear - My instruction was to sell and you are not being obedient! So I readied the property for sale and guess what? My brother bought it! It was a wonderful solution for both of us!
Now for the smaller stuff and this sounds silly but we're talking obedience here. In August I went to a shop I had sold stuff in and when I went to park there was a spot in the sun and one in the shade and Holy Spirit says park in the shady spot and I thought "No, a paying customer might come in and should have the shady spot" and I parked in the sun. I came out 30 minutes later and my windshield had shattered in the heat of the sun. Shoulda parked in the shade. :(
This past Friday night a friend and I are returning from a wonderful conference. I had planned on staying at her house that night and continuing on to my house in the a.m. Holy Spirit says "Grab your dog and go home (only 40 minutes away)" but my friend is telling me how she has fresh sheets on the bed and the room is all ready for me and I don't want to hurt her feelings so I stay there and her central A/C breaks and the outdoor temp is 87 and I get NO sleep but need to host my Bible group the next day and I was a bear. Thankfully they all went home early.
Now, here are a couple of small situations where I did the humanist "right thing" but it was against clear instruction of the Holy Spirit.
OK, now I've forgotten what this is all about. Double  :P
What I do believe is that when we are obedient to God's will, our faith grows. When our faith grows, it's easier to be obedient.
And I love reading testimonies! :)

I think we all start out this way and somehow along the way of something goes awry then we have a hard time picking back up where we left off at. I think it is at that time most when we need a little recharge of our batteries so to speak and we could do that by praying to the Lord for guidance to get us back on track and help us through the rest of the day.

Yeah I agree, the mind comes out of dreams not prepared for pains and our minds wanna take over everything
what helps me is to keep saying I can't do this, not me myself alone and try to see the bad parts of the day as reminders
but yes its easy to get caught up in the drama b/c its everywhere, dazzles a person
God bless love hugs

Ah yes... dying daily to self. One of the "fun" parts of being a Christian!
Guess God's not gonna stop that process until we REALLY "get it". Me thinks that might take a while...

"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." Matt 11:28-30

The world doesn't want anything
To do with the Lord
But God will help us no matter what occurs
As we aren't of this world as Christians
It will always be an everyday struggle no matter what
Way you look at it.
