i live 2 blocks from a Catholic church. this weekend is their Carnival. They have a beer garden with various bands playing throughout the weekend. If i sit in my yard i can listen to the bands. I was just out in my yard and i heard the band up there playing "highway to hell" LOL...i found that kinda amusing..or odd..or weird..or whatever..lol..:D

oh that is crazy irony. A church band playing "highway to hell" At least it wasn't "who made who?"
I work in the OR at my hospital, and some of the surgeons like to listen to music while operating. One is an ophthalmologist, and her patients are awake during cataract surgery. (they do have local anesthesia on board and no they cant see the surgery going on) Well she has her ipod going and wouldn't you know what comes on, Molly Hatchet, "Flirting with Disaster":D I asked her, Is this a good song to have in the OR? ^_^

Must have been something weird about last weekend. I live kitty-corner to a Nazarene Church, and last night they had some heavy-metal band playing in their chapel. I've never even heard a band playing there before, much less one like that!

Maybe they were one of those hip "Christian bands" the kids are going on about. I like to refer to the wisdom of Hank Hill on the matter: "Can't you see that you're not making Christianity better? You're just making rock and roll worse."

I once saw a Tom Chapin concert in a Lutheran fellowship hall. :) I didn't go to the church or anything, that's just where it was held. Kind of neat, you could tell they probably held contemporary services in that area or something normally, and there Tom is up on a stage singing "Cat's in the Cradle" (His brother's big hit) and "City of New Orleans" and a lot of other classic folk songs, as well as his own original tunes (Which were pretty good, I got a CD of them there that I still have, he's actually very talented in his own right, not just because he's Harry's brother).

Eh, just part of the culture that informs our imaginations. I doubt anyone would really assent intellectually with the stuff literally. Frankly, I find it better than most the vapid "christian praise/worship" music that involves standard rock&roll setups.

Lol, I remember that episode. I think some Christian bands are pretty cool though. They do help get teens interested in Christianity sometimes.

Yes. lol. Cartman just borrowed music from old love songs and added Jesus to it.
"It appears you are actually in love with Jesus"
"Don't you love Jesus?"
:D
Still, while a lot of Christian rock is watered down, some of it is okay and it usually does present a pretty positive message. I like secular rock too of course.

That was the greatest episode of South Park ever. It's a little bit like that episode of Seinfeld where Kramer gets the old talk show set and starts doing a live "show" from his apartment with anyone who wanders in as a "guest". They just never get old with me, absolutely hysterical. And I honestly don't think much is funny, but when I see an episode of something that amuses me, it really amuses me (Perhaps because I am not used to finding comedies all that amusing). :)
