View Full Version : Well...I'm here

Not really sure what to write here to be honest.

Not even sure how I came to be writing this thread.

If you had said to me a year ago that I'd be posting a thread in a section of CF designed for Conservative Christians, well, frankly, I'd have laughed at you.

I was (or so I thought) pretty much a liberal.

I shouted long and loud about unity among Christians and fought against the constant 'we are right, you are wrong' bickering among people of different denominations.

And that hasn't changed. I still feel very passionately about that.

So what changed?

CF changed

The CF I joined three years ago is all but gone. The love, and fellowship, and friendship that has meant so much to me over that time is no more.

The CF I joined was a CHRISTIAN site. Yes, all were welcomed, regardless of faith or creed, but they came here and were welcomed very much on the understanding that it was indeed a Christian site.

It was run on Christian principles, by Christians.

No longer.

There are those who would see our beloved CF turned into a coven

Already posts have been seen from athiets saying 'It's our site now'

So I find myself here as the last bastion of Christianity on what-used-to-be-CF.

I have a feeling that many more will follow.

Andy,
It is me RaggedRobin or debiwebi, I have just changed my name, again:D I never would have thought that I would have ended up here as well but since the changes this is where I feel most at home too. Welcome my Brother.

I think many things have changed that have also changed our outlook on certain things around here. So I for one am not surprised to see you posting here.

I too want UNITY amongst Christians but not at the cost of relativism and that is how this site is leaning unfortunately. If you said ecumenically then yes I would agree ecumenically I would like to see some unity but not by the use of relativism. So I am not surprised to see you here by any means. And most certainly I hope that you can enjoy your time here with us.

Lovingly In Christ
Debi

Hey Debi

Good to see you again

Thanks for the welcome.

I also believe I will like it here

How long I will be here is another matter though because I am no longer prepared to sit back quietly and just accept what is happening out there.

One wonders, therefore, how long it will be bofore I find myself banned.

No getting yourself banned Brother as all that does is work to Satan's advantage. See he wants this site to fail miserably and if we continue to lose good Christians strong in their Faith then he is winning and God is losing.

We have been through some horrendous times on this site where people did not think this site would ever rebound from the changes made to it in the past, and yet every time we have prevailed. We will prevail this time too.

Please remember that charity comes above all else and that we must temper our responses with charity at all times.

Hiya, Andy :) It's really good to have you here.

I agree with Debi, bro. Getting yourself banned isn't the answer. If you feel you have a base where you can hang out with people who agree with you and where you can recharge your batteries, maybe it'll make all the badness less overhelming?

It's strange how on this board "conservative Christian" has negative connotations, but an unwillingness to compromise God's word is never gonna be popular. CC is like a port in a storm, it really is. The fellowship in here is so beautiful, and we welcome *everyone* to spend time here, so it really feels like this little corner of CF has the best of both :)

Anyway, nuff rambling. Is good to have you here.

For a long, long time ... a certain element complained about CF rules being too complex, making them hard to follow.

So, what do we have today? As I phrased it elsewhere, ForU.ms has become a micro-managed hell-hole, where basically every decision needs to have a multi-step, established protocol in place. Things are 10 times worse than they were before. In part, thanks to the people who used to complain about CF being too complex.

Aside from that ... welcome. This forum is as much about common sense, as it is anything else. I feel our moderators will keep that in mind, and our rules will always reflect that as well. I hope you feel, and always are made to feel, at home here.

Welcome Andy!

Well, I'm new here and I suppose I expected CF to be what you perhaps knew it to be back when. In my short time here I've encountered Atheists, satanists, contentious people who thrill at argument for argument's sake, "christians" in support of immorality, "christians" who don't believe the Bible is the inspired word of God, "christians" who advocate a variety of sins as "normal" and "good." I suppose however that is indicative of the world we live in (Amen, so please come soon, Lord Jesus). It is spiritual warfare and this site is a major battlefield.

I suppose in light of all that I've naturally gravitated here, to CC. I hope to be able to contribute and find encouraging Christian Internet fellowship here - to "meet" as many of you as I can. I pray we not lose heart, but build up one another to love and good works. :groupray:

God bless you all! :amen:

Amen. For me, CC isn't really about something like small government, but instead is about trying to find fellowship on a site that now suffers from a spiritual sickness that is dark, very dark.

And showing no signd of recovering in the near future.

I was informed today that Erwin has the site up for sale.

Mind you, maybe that will be for the best in the longrun, given the way he has made a mess of things

Indeed. And I was told this by a person of extremely high integrity. I'm not normally one for gossip and I take rumours with huge amounts of salt, but this I believe, and, as you pointed out, explains a greta deal

I wonder how much he wants for it?

Hi Andy.... Sorry about coming in so late into this thread, but people here know I usually come in around the 20th post...;)

Thank you for your kind words and they are taken with gratitude from me. I too used to travel all over this board, but honestly, I've mainly stuck in this area. The range of people here is amazing and we get along pretty well...:) I feel more at ease here than I have anywhere else. I do hope we make it very welcoming to others and make it a refuge for people searching for an area to fellowship in. We have our moments, but we have a metal bat on stand-by....;)

As this place is getting more and more popular, a thought just occurred to me.

Most of the other congregational forums have a fellowship thread. OBOB has Reilly's, STR has the Alehouse, the Lutherans have a Bierhouse etc.

Be cool if we had something similer here.

Well, since we are crotchety conservatives, I believe we are using our "venting" thread for fellowship! :D

Welcome home, Andy. You're not the only non-conservative who has found a home here. I believe that Criada found herself in the same situation.

As you, and others, have pointed out, it would explain a great deal

Well, I will let Erwin worry about whatever Erwin worries about.

In the meantime, I hope we can get a friendship thread going.

What do you think about the name "CCLobby". ?

I haven't read the forum, so maybe someone else has come up with a good name.
