Zion's Glory Update
October 4, 2003 The following is a Zion's Glory prayer update from Eddie and Jackie Santoro in Israel. We encourage you to forward it to whom`ever you think might be interested in the following information. It is sent out in conjunction with a bimonthly newsletter. LIFE AND DEATH
We returned to our first Shabbat meeting today after being away for five weeks. The meeting hall was packed and the air was charged with the presence of God. The word was preached in power with the wonderful promises of Yeshua being set before all the people. At the end of the message, people were encouraged to respond to the message with the expectation that God would do something in their life that had never occurred before if they would give their hearts to God in a way that they had never done before. Shimon, the guest speaker asked that those who wanted salvation to come forward first before the leaders would pray for the rest. And then the miraculous happened again! THREE ISRAELI WOMEN CAME FORWARD TO RECEIVE YESHUA AS THEIR MESSIAH! Each of them were there because a congregational member had invited them and each were touched by the power and love of God. With tears streaming down their eyes, we reached out our hands and prayed with them to receive Yeshua as their Messiah and Lord! And this after two Israelis were saved in each of the past two meetings! God is really doing a miraculous work here at Tiferet Yeshua!
At the exact same time on the Haifa seashore large crowds of Israelis were enjoying the sunny and still warm early autumn day on the beachfront. Many had gathered to eat a leisurely Shabbat lunch at the Maxim's Restaurant and enjoy this last day before the start of Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the Jewish calendar. The restaurant was packed with families sitting around tables. Children were laughing and people were just taking some time to unwind from the day-to-day pressure of Israeli life.
Suddenly a Palestinian woman approached the entrance of the restaurant, pulled a gun, murdered the guard and then rushed inside and blew herself up. In that one horrid moment as the huge bomb that she wore exploded, the beautiful scene of families enjoying a Shabbat afternoon was transformed into one of carnage and death and unimaginable horror. As of now twenty are reported dead among them five children with over fifty seriously wounded. Even as I write, the TV screen is filled with images of the death and destruction that this demonically inspired murder caused. And all this for the glory of Allah!
A Shabbat afternoon in Israel. In one building in Tel Aviv, the miracle of God’s love and eternal victory over death being celebrated at our congregation Tifferet Yeshua. In another building just one hour away, death and carnage ruled as once happy families were forever destroyed and twenty people were cut off from life forever.
Please pray for familes of the victims and the wounded in today’s terror attack. The explosion was just the beginning of a long and agonizing reality that has been forced upon them.
Pray for the protection of this nation and its citizens. As we mentioned in our update yesterday, it is incredulous that we are being condemned for building a wall whose sole purpose is to protect Israeli citizens from these very suicide bombers. Pray that the world will see how hypocritical it is that we are continually accused of impeding the peace process by building this wall. And what of the suicide bombers? Are they not an impediment to peace?
Pray for a continuation of the anointing and power of God that we are witnessing in our congregation. Pray for many more salvations and that the mesage of hope that the Gospel brings can permeate this nation. Continue to pray for effective discipleship of these many new believers. (We introduced ourselves to one of the new believers and will be calling her tomorrow.) Pray that God would give us wisdom as we have the privilege of participating and leading in a time such as this.
