Can someone direct me to the appropriate place to ask for a rules clarification? Specifically I am looking for information concerning accusing others of not being Christians. Is this a rule that must be stated on each individual forum (and thus would be acceptable on some fora but not others) or is there a specific site wide rule that covers this?

I don't think there is a specific rule, but I am subscribing because I would like to know the answer to that as well.

There's no such rule now. John.

I think the closest we have to it is :

1.2 Sharing of information about one's beliefs, for instance by quoting Bible verses or witnessing, is encouraged. Honest debate and discussion regarding the existence and nature of God is allowed and welcome. Mockery of Christians, Christians beliefs, and the Christian God is not.

It's not a site wide rule any longer unfortunately. I don't know which forums have it listed in their own rules though. Is there a specific forum that you're trying to find this out about? I'll hunt it down if you like :)

Jo I appreciate your response. Specifically I would like you to take a look at this report thread please. I feel that an egregious flame was reported and we are being told by a supermod that there is no violation.

Sorry you don't agree with me John. I think the guy needs a Minister more then he needs an edit. He is deffinetly wrong, but he is voicing opinion and not an intentional flame. There is a difference. But I do apppreciate your upholding God's honor, I do too, but I have His children more at heart. God is able to defend His own honor, and if you look at the truth, none of us are worthy to even utter His Holy Name.

You really don't think this was intentional Jim?

Well, I have to use the quick reply because of all the errors LOL.

No John I don't. I've seen plenty of God haters and He doesn't hate God , he is jsut rejecting God. Very sad in deed. Perhaps you could help him through PMs. I would love to but I don't have time right now, plus I'm going to bed, didn't sleep but only an hour last night and I am shot.

Good night all.

Considering his post do you honestly think he will accept counsel from someone who claims to be one of the most Fundamentalist Fundamentalists on the board?

Jim I have no personal issue with you but it amazes me that you do not consider this a flame.

I seriously doubt you would take the same stance should I make the same statement about you or perhaps on OBOB. Do I have your permission to go over there and make a similar post and tell them you said it was ok?

In any case as I said I have no personal issue with you. Sleep well my friend. As for me I think I have finally had enough.

I think one of the important things to remember is that until an action is agreed upon, it's all just discussion. We have to discuss the rules, shades of rules, and future impact of actions.

Because the reports are public now, don't get discouraged based on just the discussion. Wait until the action. Then, PLEASE discuss it with the mod who acted, the supervisor, or admin if there is a concern.

This is just in general. I've noticed that since the reports have been made public, a lot of this discussion (not just in this thread) has been misinterpreted as the final decree. Sometimes, it is a hard discussion that has to be looked at from all angles. And we are challenged to extend grace at all possible, using a RFE for crystal clear violations (again, not only talking about this report).

Very sweetly put, Sue - but you do recall that jtb was a supervisor of some repute until quite recently?

Of course! And a very fair one at that. I hope he comes back to the forum, as he is greatly missed.

I was saying this in general. This report sparked this reply, but it has been a growing thing for awhile.

I have no control over where you post or what you post so please don't ask me.

Its also anything but Christian to judge another and whether he has faith or loves God. We are caled to be witnesses not judges.

I think its time you quit trying to psyco-annalyze me John. This is a staff forum, I think the fact that you posted your concern here is fine, but I ask you to now leave this discussion.

i would agree that the reported post is not an egregious flame, but it is one person's opinion.

i think he's expressing the confusion of his very new understanding about what and who God is. His having previously been an athiest, one would expect him to be conversant with their arguements against God, some of which are showing up in his reasoning. Some good Christians have asked the very same questions.
Fortunately there are answers to be had, but no, this post is not a flame so much as it is an expression of confusion. I would hope that someone has been able to provide some answers for him.

To begin with I would never attempt to psychoanalyze anyone as that is not a skill I have acquired. Secondly please do not make assumptions about my motivations. Lastly I will be happy to make this my last post once you direct me to either the thread or the person who can give me a definitive answer concerning

A. Do forumwide rules take precedence over forum specific rules?

B. To whom do regular members who do not have access to the supermod forum address questions such as mine?

C.Is it acceptable to make the same statement in OBOB of course replacing Catholic with Conservative?

These are not unreasonable questions and if this is not the appropriate place to seek the answers please direct me to the correct one.

The OP was not reported. It was someone who responded to him. Jim was just having the new mods write a letter to the OP because he is hurting. The OP was not a flame nor ever accused of flaming.

A. Do forumwide rules take precedence over forum specific rules?

Forum Specific Rules can override the forumwide rules (for instance, forums can state who can vote in their polls, who can post in their forums, etc...).

B. To whom do regular members who do not have access to the supermod forum address questions such as mine?

I believe you can post in the Wiki Discussion forum with questions such as these.

C.Is it acceptable to make the same statement in OBOB of course replacing Catholic with Conservative?

Depends on how thorough their forum specific rules are. I've never read them to be able to answer you on this.
