 I took my two younger children to the Chabad Children's High Holiday fun day this afternoon and they had a terrific time!
It was very educational and they learned about the holidays and got to try on tallits and touch a torah cover and eat apples and honey.
My daughter made a High Holiday Five Senses book and my son painted a honey bowl.
It was really nice and we had a lot of fun there!

 That is great to hear! I'm glad you all had fun, learned and got to do crafts! What a beautiful opportunity for your children to learn about their heritage!

I am glad we did too!
I honestly had no idea what Chabad was until I saw it mentioned on this board and asked about it. I just thought it was an Orthodox synagogue.
When I found out what it was and I prayed about it, then shortly afterwards I had a neighbor who walked up to me and asked me if I was Jewish and started telling me about the Chabad. I really think that is from the Lord.

I will definitely take my children to some of their other functions. They have one at the end of this month for Sukkot and will have one for Chanukkah.

I may also look into their Hebrew classes for myself.

What is especially good is that you are reconnecting with your people. You may have new beliefs, but it is still good that you are staying in touch with your community. And Chabad is SO not self-righteous. They will not push you into observance. But be careful-- they may so love you to death that you might find yourself returning to observance without realizing it. :D

You have been warned! :)

I may also look into their Hebrew classes for myself. You might want to also check out their Women's Circle classes. They are usually really fun and you do things while learning with other women. Our topic for next month is "Everyday is Thanksgiving Day" Joins us as we prepare a scrumptious Thanksgiving feast given by Chef Levana all while learning about the importance of bringing G-d into our lives each day.

Also, the Pesach one...kids have a great time
baking their own matzah. And if you want
you kids to have a real blast, take them
there for Purim...

Yep, Chabad is an awesome place to connect with Judaism. Our Rabbi has actually been giving Rosh Hashanna classes at the Reform temples around DFW.

I also think that you should make it a point to take part in all they offer. You won't be disappointed.

I will see what else they have going on in the future for sure. I grew up going to the Jewish old folks home that some of my relatives either were in or volunteered at throughout all of my childhood for Purim. They always had a Purim Carnival with games and a room to play bingo and the residents there were thrilled to have children visiting and it was tons of fun.

What a great mitzvah! You surely brought great joy
and blessings to the residents there...
