I talked to several of you in PM and we worked out a rule that is related to one we used before.
In our poll on rules we had the following restriction:
http://foru.ms/t5939294-progressives-please-vote-on-new-rules.html
Voting in this poll is open to all those who consider themselves non-Traditional or Evangelical or Progressive Adventists.
Thanks to RC before reminding me of the link.
Our new rule then is this:
While anyone may participate in discussion in our section only progressive Adventists can participate in our wiki and rules formation.
A progressive Adventist is defined as one who does NOT accept the traditional views of all 28 fundamental beliefs.
I am now adding it to the wiki.

so let it be written... so let it be done.... and quickly....

It is in the wiki.

OK, then, in order for it to be an official, enforceable rule, I need to add it to our rules sticky.

That works

It has been added.

I accept the traditional views of some of the 28. In fact, I think most of us do, is this the rule we want to add?

The rule just says you do not accept the traditional view on ALL
In other words, if you have even one that you do not accept the traditional view on, then you are fine.

I would actually rearrange the wording a bit to include those who feel comfortable under the label of Progressive SDA. Because there certainly are the Semi-Arian Adventists who do not accept one of the 28 yet cling to the title historic Adventist. As such they would not self identify with Progressive Adventist but with traditional Adventists. So I would propose as follows:
While anyone may participate in discussion in our section only progressive Adventists can participate in our wiki and rules formation.
A Progressive Adventist is defined as one who comfortably identifies themselves as a Progressive Adventist and does NOT accept the traditional views of all 28 fundamental beliefs.

Yes, I actually had a concern about this myself, and I would be open to changing the wording on this.

Hm, I am not sure about this one. I don't want to leave someone stranded. If they don't accept all 28 I say take them.
We don't really have to clarify the comfortable part. Some will know they are uncomfortable and stay away.
I am open for being convinced.

I don't know. I think it unlikely that someone who accepts all of the other 28 but follows the semi-Arian example of the Adventist pioneers would even want to try to pass himself or herself off as a Progressive Adventist. There would be some pretty obvious differences. So I'm not sure if a revision is necessary or not. I guess we can see what the consensus is on this.

The main reason here is for the rule making process correct. I sense that there are some who might want to be involved in our rules who do not really see themselves as progressive Adventists yet may see that they would fit the category of not accepting all 28 beliefs.

But you are still leaving it up to them about how comfortable they are, correct?
I don't object if we need to add that. I just don't want to strand someone who can't feel comfortable there.
But in any case, they can participate here, so put it in I suppose.
