View Full Version : ET Team water cooler

Before all the reforms we used to have an ET group fun thread. I think with all the stress we've all endured lately its about time we all had a place to get together and have a litte fun and get to know each other better.

So I'll go first. I'm an old man witha grumpy disposition and getting worse :P

Do I have an Amen? ;)

I am old, but I try to help as many folks here as I can. My goal has always been that when I get to heaven I will find folks that The Lord has led me to witness to. This more then anything else is my prayer and hope.

For me, if we forget the main purpose of why we are and that is to search out for those hurting and trying to find their Savior then this is all nothing more then a game we play.

About a month ago I thought I was going to have the chance to do a bible study with an athesist friend aI had made contact with. We exchanged a few PMs and he agreed to work with me on a bible study, but he has backed out  All I can hope is that The Lord will convict him of his refusal to believe and grant him The Holy Spirit to bring him to faith.

I have made many good friends here and am always looking for more. This is also what keeps me going. Like everyone else I need friendship and support, thankfully there always seems to be many other who are willing to share a little brotherly love.

I was telling Tishri1 the other day that since the reforms we no longer have a good metting place to help one another and share friendship. That in a nutshell is why I'm starting this thread.

I hope all ET will join in and members of any and all teams. We're all in this together :) :)

A bible study is a cool idea. I'll try to get one started when I get some time, but I'll open a new thread here, as this thread should be used to get to know one another and have fun in. :)

Root beer is good. Thanks. :)

Ever tried freshly brewed root beer? There's this restaurant called BJ's (http://www.bjsbrewhouse.com/) that my wife and I like to go to, just to have the root beer. Best I've ever tasted.

I don't drink much soda, but I will pull up a chair and a cup of coffee and chime in:

For those of you who do not know me, I am longhair75 AKA Peter. I moderate in the STR and SDA forums. If I have led you to believe that I am other than a short, slightly chunky middle aged man with long, rapidly thinning grey hair, I apologize.

Offline, I make my living as senior technician for a small fire alarm company in the midwestern United States. I am married to the incomparable Sunflower and we have two adult daughters of whom I am very proud.

I enjoy reading, movies, theater and spending time with my beloved wife.

Nice to meet all of you

Following Peter's post, I thought I'd share a bit for those who don't know me.

My name is Jason, although I'm often called "Jas" online (due to my username). I'm moderating over the Spirit-Filled forums.

Outside, I'm a programmer and software tester for a company that sells mortgage software. For fun, aside from this site, I enjoy web site design and programming. I attend Calvary Chapel Monterey Bay, and am involved with the Children's Ministry there, as coordinator over our Sunday morning elementary department. I also enjoy going to the movies, watching TV, playing my PlayStation2 and spending time with my wife.

I'm edie - and am a mod in SR & Baptist forums

I'm almost as old as Jim so would argue that he's not old:thumbsup:

While I enjoy root beer now and then I prefer Dr. Pepper or Vernors (both diet of course). Back when I was a kid we used to get ginger beer (sort of halfway between root beer and vernors) but haven't seen it in years.:sigh:

Oh - and while we've never met:(, I probably only live about 15-20 miles from Jim.

Tis a shame that we live that close and have never met :sigh:

I am so glad to see you back on staff and joining all of us again.

I wished you Baptists would relax your rules a little. I would love to engage you all in discussion, but its not allowed, even for me :P Of course I could brave it and see if you'all would ban me :P :P

We have "ask a Baptist" for discussion.

But I'll suggest maybe a discussion sub-forum for non-Baptists. (Do we need special permission to start a sub-forum?)

One of our 20 superadmins should be able to help with that, don't know which one. They are the only ones I know that can set it up.

BBAS64 used to come and debate us all the time in TCL. He is a brilliant bible scholar. I wished he would post more often, but I think he's gotten tired of it.

Lisa, otherwise known as Headache and Problem Child. ;)

I am a newbie mod but I love every single minute of it with the exceptions of reports, closing threads, editing posts, and sticking threads. I also do not like moving threads, ebans, IP Checks, or sending PM's to violators. (j/k) I do love my Mod hat though. It is some major bling! Wanna see? I never get tired of it. I thought about changing it for about five minutes as it is a little ostentatious.

Beer is the best for both worlds, its 92% water and only 8% alcohol, but the taste is waht I enjoy, its also good for the tummy and drownds out lots of those old man bugs ;)

frozen coffees/lattes are one of my favorites - I'm actually looking forward to cooler weather because I probably won't drink as many of them. The benefits will be twofold - more money and less calories;)

I'm thinking we need a blender next to the water cooler - then we can make our frozen drinks on site.

the winery is on Old Mission Peninsula in Traverse City, Michigan (USA). Traverse City is really promoting their vineyards - who knows, someday they might compete equally with their cherry festival.

This particular winery has a bed and breakfast associated with it. The winery sits at the top of a hill in the middle of the peninsula (no more than 2-3 miles wide) and there is a view of one bay or the other from every room. The views are remarkable - as my husband said it's hard to imagine being an atheist if this is what you get to look at every day:thumbsup:
