Bob Marley converted to Orthodoxy secretly - it is only when he died that he really got recognized by the Ethiopian Church - before then he kept it hush-hush. He did it later, as all Orthodox Churches (Chalcedonian or extraChalcedonian) don't do marijuana.

Anyway, he was exhumed or after his funeral or something he was flown to be buried in Ethiopia, where he now awaits the Second Coming.

Are you sure about Natalie being Orthodox? Usually if one is Jewish it's because they have a Jewish MOTHER, as Jewishness is determined by the mother's status, at least in Orthodox Judaism.

And ... I was making a joke about Jennifer Aniston. You said she was decent. I said she was in some indecent movies.

According to Wikipedia under Natalie Wood.

Wood was born Natalya Nikolaevna Zakharenko in San Francisco, California, to Russian immigrants, Nikolai and Maria Zakharenko. Her parents changed their surname to "Gurdin", and by the age of 4 she was billed as Natasha Gurdin.

It would be funny if there was a St. Irene's monastery in Astoria Oregon, but no I am almost 100% sure he is talking about the St. Irene Chrysovalantou Stavropegial monastery in Astoria (AKA the center of all things Greek in NY) Queens:

Natalie Wood was definitely Orthodox.

Jennifer Aniston was baptized Orthodox as a baby (Telly Savalas is her godfather, not her uncle, from what I read), but not raised in the church at all. Shame on her parents.

Rita Wilson COULD have married Tom Hanks had he not converted (he was Catholic), as an Orthodox can receive economia to marry a baptised Trinitarian Christian who is not Orthodox. It is highly frowned up, though, but allowed for human weakness. But he converted to make it easier for her. I have heard that they frequent St. Sophia's in LA when they're home. And Tom needs a huge kick in the rectum for starring in that horrid Da Vinci Code movie.

Not true. My husband and I were married originally in a civil service ceremony. We didn't get married in the church until 3 years later. When we did, if he hadn't already converted (which he had a few months prior to our church marriage) he would have had to as he was never baptized as a baby. My MIL raised my husband in the evangelical church and they do only a baby dedication.

Well, he's Greek! Don't think he's Orthodox, but good gracious is he delish! LOL!

Specifically, those that may have pews in their temple, allow women and men to worship on the same side of the temple, allow women to enter the temple without a headcovering.

Traditionally, pews are reserved for the sick, the suffering, the weak, the pregnant, the elderly, and the infirm. They are traditionally located around the edges of the temple in the nave.
In Hagia Sophia, it is my understanding that the nave had this formation, but the balconies for the non-Orthodox had pews and chairs to "watch."

Why do you think the bishop stands at attention the whole time? That's what attention means, that's why the military uses it! The Holy Priesthood is different, but not better than our vocation as the Faithful. We should be at attention too!

The men/women split is an urban parish practice adopted from monasteries, where men and women are always segregated (except for little kids 'cause they don't really care about that stuff). Kids show us how to truly pray by wearing their hearts on their sleeves. They show us what are hearts should look on the inside - not the "I-take-myself-so-importantly-because-I-am-a-successful-leader-so-don't-bother-me-while-I-pray" stance that us adults are so prone to do. Be open the Lord Jesus on the inside, "For the Kingdom of God is within you" as He said and kids show us this openness because they've not yet found a way to channel all their worshipful energies to finding the Kingdom on the inside!

And I think most of you know that the women's headcovering practice is directly from the Apostle Paul's writing.
This one I don't understand, because in that same passage he says for men not to wear hats in Church, but celibate priests, and monks and bishops, and archpriests, and protodeacons wear hats all the time in services. Why is that?
