How can you wake up and thank God for allowing you to live another day according to His mercy, when you would rather not wake up and find that He would be more merciful not allowing you to wake?

When you realize the weight and stain of your sins, and can appreciate the fact you have an opportunity to repent and pray instead of let the demons of despair get you in a stranglehold.
When you can accept that your present reality is a great test of endurance and humility, and be content in the fact that the strongest steel comes from the hottest flames and strongest beatings, then you can thank God.
Prayers. :crosseo:
Edit: Justin, forgive me, but I just really felt like you needed to hear this: I'm sorry. And I love you man. I can't say I know you very well but I truly feel for you right now and I really hope for the best in your situation. Just keep your chin up and remember what I said about the strongest steel. You're stronger than you know. Don't let anyone or anything convince you otherwise. Greater is He Who is in you...

That goes for me too. Justin, we are behind you. What your going through is tough, but just keep your faith in God and you can get through anything. Just thought you should know I'm here with you too.
My prayers are with you my friend. :crosseo:

True, the prospect of paradise is beautiful indeed but, we are here for a purpose.
I have seen it quoted a few times here and I don't know who originally said it but, you should be thankful for all who you meet.
Watch the film "The Hours".
In this film there is a man dying from Aids, true enough he does commit suicide in the end (sorry for the plot spoiler), but Mrs. Dalloway acts as his rational conscience. The man in his despair doesn't know why he lives, Mrs. Dalloway responds "We live for each other".
This is very true indeed.
We do not live for ourselves.
Those who do try to live for themselves fall into despair and depression for they have lost all meaning for life.
We are social creatures. Whether we are extro or intro-vert is beyond the point. Without soceity we will perish. In quite the almost opposite, to be completely dependant upon soceity we will also perish for we no longer have any meaning to life.
"Dead fish go with the flow"
I'm afraid I've almost predictably lead this onto the most predictable of answers which is, we need the Church to live. Without it, we are meaningless. We are but our mere selves with no other purpose but to make others happy for no benefit but the occasional thankyou. To be a slave to soceity or a servant to God, that is a question we must all ask.
Forgive me if I have been harmful in anyway :(

Those who have the strongest attacks and demons besetting them are those who God knows that they can defeat them. Take solace in this, and think of it as a low spiritual handicap :)
