Flaglady Tishri and I have some growing concerns about the obvious wars going on in certian forums. Much of this is taking place in the new conservative Christians forum between them and liberal visitors, but I know we have problems in almost all forums.
What I propose is this. We deveolpe a special commitee of supermods and admins and even superadmins of they want to be part of the team.. This team would look into any problems reported to them via a special thread here in ET, much like the thread we used to have for mods to get help of senior staff. The post would be made in this referring thread but then a new thread would be opened up for discussion and resolving the problem.
My concern is this. We have a lot of new staff and growing everyday. All though these new staff may have great computer skills and hearts of gold they lack the experience of dealing with real problems. This special team would give insight into only those greater problems and help to train new staff by offering insight as to how to look at things. Again, this would only be for big ongoing problems, not for a single report problem unless it was part of a bigger problem.
Of course this idea needs more discussion, it also needs volunteers ;)
Volunteer list follows (please add your name if you want to help) :P

I think this idea has merit Jim because from experience I know that if you apply some salve on a wound and give it support it will heal.....great idea friend:wave:
BTW what you wrote reminded me of the days I was a trainee and a new mod and all the hours I would spend on PGs couch learning the ropes from him, I was worried about alot of things back then it was all sooo new, and he would calm my heart and help me every step of the way and you know what? Every thing always worked out for everyone's good just the way he would explain it too....He placed alot of hope and wisdom in my heart back then:)
Alot of time has passed since those days and yes an experienced ear is always a good thing to have on hand when your just starting out with a new adventure... we have new Mods and new forums and us oldies:P could give lots of support and wisdom and hope right about now:hug::hug::hug::hug::hug:
count me in:thumbsup:

I wonder if we need to send out invites to get people to serve on this committee? Hmmmmm ;)

i know your hearts are in the right place, but wouldn't it be a better idea to first run the idea by the teams in question to see if they want this help and oversight? it seems that one of the complaints recently was that there was too much input from senior staff.

I've been away a lot lately, so I know I've missed some things. What was the complaint exactly? Too much input in what way? In reports? I think supermods are being stretched a bit thin by being asked to work reports in addition to training and all the other stuff that we used to do as supervisors. I'm wondering if it would alleviate some of the concerns if supermods were not so involved in reports and let the mods handle them as much as possible the way we used to do it in ET. I know that we have limited staff right now, but I guess I just think it would be better for senior staff to be available for consultation as needed in reports but not to micromanage the mods at every step.

Ok, I guess I missed one important thing, we need a place to sign up
So what we will do to make it easy is to edit my OP and add your names to those of you who want to volunteer.
I'll go first :)

Yes, I understand, and it was a great idea to combine training with reports. :)

As for the training, I have drawn up a few protocols in the new The Congregation Staff Training Center (http://foru.ms/f806-the-congregation-staff-training-center.html) (stckies) just to help things along with Tishri's idea of "Interactive Training".
But our newest mod, Lisa, has taken it one step further by coming up with a great idea. A group of them are getting together in the CSTC and creating reports on themselves or their socks and then working them there. It's going extremely well and hats off to Lisa for the initiative!
So, if any of you find you have some time on your hands (LOL!!) and would like to pop in and lend your various expertise by commenting in the 'reports' and other threads and helping these very proactive trainees to develop their skills, please feel free. I don't think you need to be listed as a trainer to do this. We all know how to mod, so let's share it.
This is the way forward, folks!

Awwww, Thanks Jo!
It would be great if any mod trainee or otherwise would come in and be really, really bad so we can report them. If anyone wants to do that, they should partner up with someone and work out the details of their violation, then, come in, be bad, and the other person report them. Then, GM, Hen, and I will work the "report".
