I keep going over to OBOB to challenge some peoples horrendously narrow unimaginative worldview. I dont think I'm trolling quite yet, but I am perilously close to yelling "If God is as much of a *bleep* as you claim he is, we're all going to hell so we might as well all become athiests and sleep in on Sunday morning!"
Mean people make the baby Jesus cry.

I've found that reading/posting in certain parts of the intranets makes me a bad person. Therefore, I refrain from doing so. I'd suggest the same for you. I, too, feel myself becoming a rabid, frothing at the mouth *bleep* when I read OBOB.

Its such a shame when mean speech is tried to pass off as love. I really don't understand it. Not much we can do, just like Loki says, just refrain:)

"A man convinced against his will, is of his own opinion still"
Sometimes it's best to:
a) Bite your tongue
b) Remove yourself from the vicinity
c) Pray for the person/people in a non-judgmental kinda way
d) Read proverbs.. in particular:
He who walks with the wise grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm.
Proverbs 13:20Stay away from a foolish man, for you will not find knowledge on his lips.
Provebs 14:7It is to a man's honor to avoid strife, but every fool is quick to quarrel.
Proverbs 20:3Do not answer a fool according to his folly, or you will be like him yourself.
Proverbs 26:4;)

What a magnificent blessing you are to those with "horrendously narrow unimaginative world views". You should feel very proud of yourself.

I know what you mean, but it's impossible to change the views of people by riling them up (I'm slowly beginning to learn that!)
Look at those around you, the Catholics you live with. I'm sure they are nothing like what you find online. At least that's the experience I made with those I interact with in RL!

Why is it that in real life, we're all more decent people, but online, we can be just the opposite of who we really are?

I hope so, because otherwise the irony of his signoff will make me fall off my chair.
I agree with the others. :) Resist the temptation. The reason this subforum is here is to discuss your thoughts with other likeminded people. But, you're right. Mean people make baby Jesus cry. (~Todd Flanders (or was it Rod?)).

Debate is a waste of time, for the most part. Dialogue works better.

Seems to me that if your goal is to "Challenge" them then you are already stepping into debate and away from dialog, why go to their forum and challenge them? Why not ask them why they believe as they do?
