All I can say is...

Typical.

Pretty sad when you think about it. What is the motivation? I mean this site has a huge load of members which means that many are attracted to the "Christian" portion of it regardless of their faith ... it would appear to me that the true motivation is that being "huge" is not big enough and he felt he could make it bigger by turning his back on the very foundation that made it so big in the first place.

He even talks about how the traffic went down because a lot of members left.

Does he not get that? Or is he being purposely obtuse about it?

I think he'd be just as happy if we all left so new blood might come in. This all makes no sense, but then neither does hiding your lamp under a bushel.

When you read his answers did you read them with an Australian accent? It doesn't really change anything, but at least you get to laugh every now and again.

It doesn't matter how many times we protest, or how many, he will just neglect them all, and do as he wishes. That's the worst part of it all.

There are already a lot of atheists and non-Christians that signed up under the old name...and contrary to what Erwin said, not all of them are here to debate. Some of them may have signed up for that reason, but subsequently branched out into other areas....

All those who have left (willingly or not) seem scattered about.

I'm currently mostly at two sites (I'm not premitted to publicly say which), but if you find a good one - let me know.

I was pleased that Erwin was going to ATTEMPT to take back his website and to restore it to its original mission/goal/purpose.

I think he's making SOME progress at taking back his site, but he seems to have entirely forgetting why he created this site in the first place and why it became, for awhile, the world's biggest Christian discussion board.

Profoundly sad, IMHO. :sigh:

Maybe time to think about packing up and going to Christ centered forums.

Is it supposed to make us feel better?

His goals are ambiguous at best, but if Erwin owns the site there is nothing we will say or do that will change his ways on this site. Maybe if things get worse here I might move on to a more christian centered site. Thanks Lillamb for the posting of FAQs.

I've noticed that he has gone out of his way to incorporate Christian imagery on the pages, including the changing artwork at the top left of each page and the inclusion of the ICHTHUS at the top as well.

I'd like to find some good Christ centered forums too. A few anyway

I think, but don't quote me on this, that those are possible things that would grace the top of the page pending a vote maybe? Not that Erwin's famous for listening to polls, though.

The fish isn't always at the top - I would've preferred it always there regardless of what is in the corner. But I do really like some of the corner pieces I'm seeing.

I'll sit back and see what Erwin does with all of us. We all make mistakes, what makes each person unique is how they handle those mistakes.

Oh wow, a site "based on christian ethos"! What more could a gal possibly ask for? :swoon:

....goodness, I'm feeling snarky today.... lol

His goals are ambiguous at best, ...
Ambiguity of goals is a dead giveaway that one has an "unpopular" agenda. :)

He also went against own poll and waved his finger by saying that "majority" should mean "clear majority".

:D :D :)

It seems to ME that everyone has forgotten to mission/goal/purpose of this site that made it so popular - including Erwin.

The god of political correctness and relativism has been enshrined....

I actually THOUGHT Erwin's attempt to reclaim the control of his site would restore his original vision to it. I think many of us did. We were wrong.

you know what? I think the stuff on the top left of the page are a step in the right direction. Now people know that this is a Christian site at least.

I agree. What's done is done with the name change. I was going to leave this site completely, but I feel a little better about things now since it looks like the site will continue to acknowledge Christ.
