I'm sticking around for the time being. I joined CCF since it seemed some people were ending up there as well, but I'll stick around as long as EC and the rest of you are around here. Managed to get my 100 posts to vote for EC as a moderator, why leave now?

So, roll call? Who's still sticking around?

How do I join The One True Old Posters of the Genuine Ancient Way in Exile From Christian Forums Resistance in Communion with Baklavas Synod in Exile Abroad? It seems rather appropriate with all the stuff going on around here.

Simple!

In the Control Panel, there is a link on the side that reads "Edit signature".

Copy/Paste "The One True Old Posters of the Genuine Ancient Way in Exile From Christian Forums Resistance in Communion with Baklavas Synod in Exile Abroad".

Save changes and it should appear in the signature.

I'll be popping in from time to time, though due to the fact that I have just started a full time job (HOORAY!) after months of struggling to find work, plus the fact that I still have my casual job in the evenings, I may not have much time available and probably shouldn't spend much time here at all.

I'm not going anywhere. I might be inclined to not visit GH anymore (for reasons including but not limited to the stupid name change), but there's no reason to leave TAW. Frankly, I'm tired of people being so melodramatic about a website. There's a whole world out there beyond pixels on a screen.

I plan on stopping by every once in a while. I've registered also at the conservative Christian board as well as orthopraxis, but I like the visual layout of this board much more. Orthopraxis has pale colors and small letters, which makes it difficult to read, whereas conservative Christian board has those annoying animated characters and other annoying stuff. :D

By the way, I was actually more disturbed by the old slogan of "uniting all Christians as one body" than the current neutral mission of the board. The former slogan could be interpreted as an ecoumenistic mission... But I'm aware there might be something that I've missed in the development of this board. I haven't been around that much.

Orthopraxis was designed for use with Firefox, so if you don't use that browser I'm not sure how the font will look. If you use Firefox you can hold CTRL and hit + and the font size will increase as much as you want it to. :)

I use Firefox almost exclusively. Regardless of the font size, the layout of Orthopraxis is still somewhat unpleasant to my eyes. I tried to select different skins, to see if that would help, but none of them apply. If you could enable the skins, that might help. Other than that, and the fact that whenever I refresh, I am booted back to the main page (an issue I have a workaround for), I kinda like Orthopraxis.

Breaking Babylon

I'll be on the lookout for some new skins. I'd like to get it professionally done with a domain, but I'd hate to pay for all of it without a very active community.

Either way, be on the lookout for something new. :)

Actually it kind of maybe does look little better with Firefox (I usually use the "Exploder"), but the font still looks weird, it's more grey than black, as if there were tiny white spaces between the tiny black dots the letters consist of.

But I do appreciate the work you are doing. I take it's you behind the site?

I've been away for the last few days, and all of this caught me by surprise. What changes or potential changes are we talking about? How could they potentially effect TAW? Why are some people leaving? What's CCF? Why do some feel it is better than here? It seems like most of you are staying...so I guess I'll stay too.

Thank you. :)

I spearheaded the project, but it's the people behind the site. Being the administrator doesn't mean a thing without an active membership posting in the forums I set up, you know?

That's really, really weird about the text problem. I don't see it. I checked the HTML for the font and it's #000000, and that's as black as it can possibly get. It could be the font itself.

Try zooming in with CTRL and + to see if you like that better. Also, do you have Windows XP? If so, enable ClearType.

Start > Control Panel > Display > Appearance > Click 'Effects' > Check the box that says 'Use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts: > ClearType.

That's going to make all of your fonts look much smoother.

Forgive me if I'm preaching to the choir here.

I think Cleartype only works with TTF flat screens. It won't work with CRT monitors.

Breaking Babylon

I've got the stock monitor that comes with the old Dell Dimension 4600's, and Cleartype works with it. It's worth a shot. :)

I guess I'll be staying though I don't know how much I'll be around. I really should probably spend less time on online forums and stuff. I'm afriad that if I joined to another one I'd just be spending more time at that one too. Besides I still pretty much like it here. :) I don't spend much time outside of TAW on these forums anyway. I feel like I'm so slow. I can barely keep up with reading posts, much less making posts myself. Sometimes I feel bad that I'm not better about reaching out and responding to people like many of you are. But I really don't feel I can devote the time to it. I hope somehow you all know that I appreciate you all and pray for you anyway. I'm sorry I'm not better at expressing it. :(

But anyway! Since I don't come out of TAW much, I don't know how much of a difference the big reforms make to me. I am glad that nonChristians can freely post here now (within rules of course), though I don't really know what to make of much of the other stuff. Guess I'll just see how it plays out. It's crazy how involved the politics can be on this site.

I have been enjoying and learning from the threads within TAW for quite a while now.

I am 28 years old and was born and raised United Methodist, educated in a Baptist school, Baptized Episcopalian as an adult and am now learning about Catholicism and Orthodoxy as I search for a Church which still adheres to the teachings and practices Christ taught.

The TAW section of Christian Forums has been the single best online community of Orthodox faithful that I have found to date. I have enjoyed watching the discussions and learned a lot. I certainly hope that someone figures out how to return the peace and harmony to the congregation sub-sections before these wonderful discussions become overwhelmed with drivel from those who simply seek to annoy us.

I'll be around, but I have less time to be online than I used to have. I think people are taking this whole thing way too far. I love you guys and I like posting here, but seriously people, it's not like congress has just declared Orthodoxy illegal. This is a website. We need to regain focus and keep our priorities straight. There was never anything particularly sacred about CF to begin with. It was just a nice place to hang out. We don't all need to run to the hills and become hermits because the founder of this site made some lame decisions and is taking it in a new direction. Say it with me, folks. It's just a website :)

Hi InnerPhyre,

While I agree with your point, I want to insure you see the point of many other posters. The congregation sub-forums have historically be a place free from the distractions of the open forum. As I am sure you have seen in the past few days, this has changed a bit with the recent changes.

I think that fact is what has upset the TAW regulars so.

Ah, I can always count on Inner Phyre to come in with a post of, "Come on guys! Seriously people! Calm down! You're thinking about this all wrong! Straighten up and think about it correctly, the way I do!"

I'd really like to see some posts from you that are NOT coming in and telling everyone to calm down, or thinking you have the fix to whatever people are arguing over, but they are rare. It gets tiresome, and starts seeming very preachy and self-serving after a while.

Well....ok. Think of it however you would like to think of it. Just saying....it's an internet forum, not the Holy Synod.

If these posts seem frequent from me lately, I guess that's probably because I don't come back here very much these days, and when I do, all I see is people shouting that the sky is falling. It's frustrating and discouraging.
