This question was posted on CNN.com today in which after 5,500 people posted their responce only 1,300 or 34% said they would fight for their religion.
That speaks volumes.

of course
I wouldn't knock a few teeth out if someone bad mouthed it or something
But actual defense of it then yes

Depends on the version of "fight". I mean, I'd defend it as Lupinus says, but I wouldn't harm someone over it.

I would defend my Christian Faith with zeal from the Word of God, not with my fist. Our Confessions are our defense as well. I have people challenge my faith every so often and I pull out the Sword of the Spirit. Knowledge is truly power. If you know how to defend your faith well, that is truly fighting for your religion. Jesus never preached taking up the sword and saying, "Don't you ever talk about Jesus that way!"

Yes. :) Like the others said though, it all depends on one's definition of "fight". I'm not going to knock someone's teeth out for speaking ill of Christ. Proclaim the Word, even when it is terribly unpopular- yes. Beat someone up- no.

Yeah I think most people are thinking war here. . .
Personally I don't think my faith condones warfare or violence unless absolutly necessary or under the orders of God himself.
Remember that terrorists see themselves as fighting for their religion, so the idea of fighting for one's religion has gotten a very bad name.
Plus lets face it the number of 34% is about the same number of people in the US who attend church regularly. Lots of people are "christians" but don't even attend church much less practice the faith . And even within the church I would say the majority do not practice their faith on any day but Sunday.

I fight for my religion every day, as often against myself as anyone else. I would not fight in a war for my religion, for wars are always led by men, and men have lower aims than piety in mind.

But what fun is that? ;)

I once tripped someone on purpose so that I could get the last piece of chocolate cake at a potluck, but I don't think that counts as fighting for my religion. ;)

No, just asserting your God given right to eat that last piece of cake.

I can only imagine how that would appear in the newspaper. . .
Local pastor's wife assaults church member for last piece of cake.

I remember we had a pot luck on the pastor's wife's birthday, and so the pastor was like "If your birthday was today, you can go first."

This is true.
However, I was only eight at the time, so I think I can be forgiven for my childish ways...
I hope. ;)
