...the Saints.
So if anyone has anything on Saints with apparitions....
I would love to read them.
Aside from Paul's apparition of Jesus, I never looked into other ones in the earliest Church, but there seems to have been a number after.

Can I verify and examine the evidence of claims based on apparitions of Mary?

There is a story that I read just a few years ago from a little pamphlet that I found in the back of monastic church about a very devout Russian woman in Australia who could not always attend a Russian Orthodox church, but more often attended another Orthodox church at which most of the women never covered their heads. She was known for her full and beautiful hair, but she always kept it covered. She noticed this, and not judging anyone, she made a promise to the Most Pure Theotokos that she would always keep her head covered and dress modestly whenever she attended Divine Services. After some time, it was determined that she had a dangerous form of cancer and would have to undergo chemotherapy and radiation treatments. Like anyone, she was very frightened, and turned to the Mother of God with intense prayer and tears. Once while she was praying before her icon of the Pure Virgin, she heard a sweet and comforting voice, which said to her, "My dear child, because you have always shown me love and respect, my Divine Son has granted you healing, but only after a time. Because you have honored me by always keeping your head covered, you will not lose one strand of your hair." And all came true; to cleanse her soul, God permitted her to suffer for a time, but despite intensive therapy, her hair remained intact.

St. Katherine of Sinai was visited many times by the Theotokos.
I remember St. Maximillian Kolbe (RC saint - would have been my confirmation name) was visited by the Theotokos at an early age.
Many many countless visits by the Theotokos and Christ to the people. Even to what we could call "the common folk" that may not be canonized as saints, but just as faithful.
There was a patriarch in Alexandria who got a little arrogant and said to God "Show me my equal!" And He took the patriarch to the Nile and showed him a little old Greek lady who was washing her family's clothing. Can't remember the saint's name, though.:sigh:
And of course St. Constantine was told "In this Sign, conquer".

Hey that's a humbling experience for the Patriarch. :)
WE are all equal. One and all....just that we are all different parts to one Body.

The four major ones come to Paul, Peter, James, and John- exactly the people whom Paul calls pillars of the church.
Peter's is recorded in Acts 10. John's, of course, is in Revelation. The one we don't have is James. We don't even know which James.
My personal theory on the matter was that it was James the brother of Jesus, who was unbelieving during the ministry. Possibly it is how he came to faith in Christ and so a great leader of the early church. Just my little theory.

So..well, if we dont have it, then what are you talking about?

In 1 Corinthians 15 Paul lists a number of postmortum appears of Christ.
"Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles. Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me."
So we know there was an apperance to a James. But which James, when, and what content is fairly ambiguous.

I do too.
I think my favorite line from Mary was what she told Bernadette.
I can not promise you happiness in this world, only in the world to come.
