There is a "Conservative Christian" forum with some overlap with us.
It has been noted by some that while most here are "conservative" that
1- it is not an integral part of being fundy
2- it is a poorly defined word, unlike fundy which we have defined here already
However, some of you may prefer to retain "conservative" in the description. If so please argue your case.

I think we should retain the word conservative in the description. Most Fundamentalists are also Conservatives after all.

If I may ask, what does "conservative" mean? For people like me who are politically liberal but conservative in lifestyle and religion, it's a bit of an ill-defined term.

The conservative Christian forum is essentially for those who are theologically conservative. There is nothing in the definition about politics but more about beliefs. I actually don't understand why people have such a hard time picking that up.

Dump it. It's much broader than "Fundamentalist". While nearly all Fundamentalists are conservative, most conservatives are probably not Fundamentalists.
The only reason to keep it, imho, would be if it was used something like, "the conservative conservatives", which I think would be reasonably accurate.

I'm leaning towards deleting it, but not totally decided at this point. I would like to see more discussion on it here. There are fundies who associate themselves more with the word conservative than fundamentalist. Keeping the word conservative may help encourage them to fellowship here. I don't know. It's just semantics. Not a big deal either way, really.

When the poll finally closes in December (did you mean it to take that long?), please discount Peacemaker02's vote. She is back to Catholic again, and changes frequently. I think that until she sticks with a view for at least several months...her vote should not count.

Yeah, her profile contains a couple items that don't seem very "Fundamentalist", either.

Definitely voted to delete the word "conservative", but since it is a vote i'll let us decide together.
Here's my reasonings for my vote...
"Conservative" used to mean something here in the USA many decades ago but now it's just a verbal football that's most often heard being kicked around on our corporate owned media by their hired media-whores.
The shift in the use of the word has been far towards what's called the "left". So that now a true conservative is being refered to as a "paleo-conservative". Mind you, this terminology is still all popularized by the corporate media in the games they play with us.
I suggest we trim our definition of Fundamentalism to include only clearly defined words that have survived our Nation's cultural disintigration.

I voted to keep the word. It will discourage people from the WWMC from trying to join. Their views are diametrically opposed to ours.

OK now, I did mean to close the poll in December, but maybe that's a bit long. Well, for now it stays open.
I don't know how to change the poll results to discount a vote, so manually we stand at 4 to keep, 5 to delete.
