Anybody wanna go on the Journey with me? Primarily for edification, secondarily as a tool for witnessing. You can witness more effectively if you know the gospel for yourself. I propose we take a journey through the new testement chapter by chapter in an effort to experience God's word for ourselves. Won't you consider taking the journey?

We would work our way through the gospels in this order St. John, St Mark, St. Luke, St. Matthew. We would then be able to go through some of the epistles: Philippians, James, 1John. This order is open to changed based on member input. The primary goal of this stage is to get a firm foundation in the gospel.Member discussion will take place regarding which books will follow after we finish those in stage one.
The Plan of Action:
1. Read through the chapter carefully, seeking to find its main subject or subjects.
2. As you read each chapter, give it a title which suggests its main content.
3. Answer these questions:
(http://www.christianforums.com/#_ftn1)a. What is the main subject of this passage?
b. Who are the persons revealed in this passage: Who is speaking? About whom is he speaking? Who is acting?
c. What is the key verse of this passage?
d. What does this passage teach me about the Lord Jesus Christ?
e. Does this passage portray any sin for me to confess and forsake?
f. Does this passage contain any command for me to obey?
g. Is there any promise for me to claim?
h. Is there any instruction for me to follow?
(http://www.christianforums.com/#_ftn1) 5.Answer scripture with scripture. If you have a question consult a concordance
The goal of this thread is to get different opinions on the same scripture.

Kryzoz I commend you on your enthusiasm! Unfortunately at this time I'm stretched thin as it is with the Daily Bible and several bible studies. Maybe when one ends I'll add this one on. I do think this is a lovely idea though!

I would not mind trying to give it a go? Well at least for one book, or Gospel. Then you can kick me out. lol I am starting a study on Revelations in Sept. I am not good at reading & will have to give that priority.

cool
Maybe I'll start a CF club. It would be good to see the observations of members of other denominations. What do you think?

That's a great idea! And you could promote it in your signature.
In regards to your other question, one that I do frequent online (well, actually it's emailed to me) is Proverbs 31 Woman (www.proverbs31.org). Like I said, I don't consider it a bible study, but I do really enjoy it.

You could do it over at Edification somewhere...if you are really ambitious you could posts threads in each of the congregational areas to invite people to participate.

Well, I posted replies one and two in this thread to about 8 ecuminical threads. I was reprimanded for spamming. My plan was to start either a club or devotion and edit the post I had made in each of the threads to show the link. However, I was reprimanded before my plan could come to fruition

IMHO I think it's great if we can do this cross denominationally. If that not EXACTLY what CF exists for (Uniting ALL Christians...) then I don't know what is.
Spam? Rubbish. Go for it girl. I'm right behind you.

Before we get too deep... before the changes took place I do know conflict and resolution (if that's what you want to call it-- not really sure how to word it) between a member and mods were not to be publicized. So just be careful how much you publicly post since I'm not totally sure if that has changed or not.
I definitely agree, pm a mod. Anyone can look and see you're new-- guidance would have been more beneficial. And the initator of reporting you should have simply contacted you first-- just like the bible says to go to the individual first.
I'm sorry to read this has happened. But don't let it stop you if that's what you're being called to do. If God wants you to bring denominations together... He WILL make it work AND happen NO MATTER who steps in the way!!!!!!!

Some people are snooty booty about their denominations beliefs. I mean thats why we have different denominations because everyone has different opinions about the traditions and how they ought to be carried out. To each its own, but I wish people wouldn't criticize. Not here of course, but remember how I said that I posted in 8 ecumenical sub forums. Well one of them said I was breaking the rules by not posting in their sub-forums "ask a Calvanist" another said I was completely wrong in saying that everyone's opinion was equally valid. As long as they don't go around criticizing other denominations or debating then they could think the sky was black for all I care. The questions are not that deep and they are not that difficult to think about. You just skim the surface which is why I picked those books purposely.
They shouldn't give way to rowdy debate. My thinking is this: Christ is coming back for a spotless church, a whole one. We've got to make some strides toward becoming the church that God would have us to be. Humans are not perfect, therefore man-made denominations are not perfect and in my honest opinion, if it goes with the teachings in the bible as the foundation, what it does in addition to that is what makes it unique. We cannot expect to be perfect, but we can strive for it anyway we know how and I think the Lord will honor that. That is why I say everyone's opinion is valid. Secondly, I don't want to ask a Calvanist if it is ok for me to start a club and invite them. That's irrelevant!!!!!

You have a heart for uniting us as One Body, and I think that's fabulous. There are others who feel they are "right" and everyone else is "wrong," and that is a terrible shame. But don't let it discourage you! I'm with you!

You have no idea how much that means to me Stacie. I just get so down because people are more focused on the letter of the law than the Spirit of the Law. I feel we as a whole are going the way of the pharisees and Saducees of Christ's day, convoluting the gospel because we would rather rely on Man's knowledge than what the Spirit says. I'm glad the Lord is on the mercy seat and I thank God for people like you :) God Bless

Ok I'll get started right away. Those interested, please advetise the study in your sigs when I get the club up and running. I would actually like to see it as a devotional, but I guess thats what I have to deal with right now. So let me do that and I will post the link in a short while. Sorry to say that I will not be here for the next two days, but lucky for you I have already done the study for the first two days :)
I hope you all have fun. Go where you can and advertise but remember what Christ said: "be as wise as servants, but as harmless as doves"
The Lord Bless You and Keep You, Kryzoz
