Since the mods don't see fit to exercise their office after being repeatedly asked to delete certain threads because of some private agenda. I think it's fit to invoke and make a "sticky" of the "ignore" list that we were going to have for offenders. LilLamb since you were involved in the thread maybe you can't delete it but you could start a sticky, ignore list. Here's the rule from our Forum Rules.
"If it is decided that a person is uncooperative and mostly operating with the intention of causing trouble or proselytizing he/she may be banned from the forum. Generally this will occur after several moderator PM's telling that member how he/she is not abiding by forum or subforum rules. People who come to TCL to do nothing more then cause trouble will be treated as trouble makers and will be asked to leave our forum peacefully. We expect visitors to conduct themselves in a manner that would be fitting for them to actually visit one of our churches in person. In addition to and including the warnings a "sticky" thread will be formed with the advisement for all TCL forum and sub forums members to initiated the "IGNORE" option so the "offender" will be "ignored". When the "ignore" option is initiated the offender and initiator can not see, read or PM each other. If used in totem in the forum it will be an effective total banning of that provocateur."

I think it would have been inappropriate for me to state what I did and then close that thread because it would have been viewed as a Nah, Nah, Nah, type of thing showing that I could close it and not let him have the last word. I try to think I'm a little more mature than that ;) Sometimes. hehe
If the thread has run its course then maybe Cola or Jim will close it when they come online sometime today?

I don't think it was ignored...just not read yet.
Remember, I'm also still supposed to be on hiatus from staff duties :) But I couldn't keep away. This place in all its aggravation can be addicting.

I wasn't referring to you. I was referring to whoever was the mod yesterday.
Guess nobody was.

Where is it stated that people other than the OP can request a thread to be closed, particularly if no rules are being broken? I hate to think that we've reached the point of being so sensitive that we have to start lobbying to shut down threads or people we don't like.
Furthermore, the poster in question has a "Lutheran" icon and is thus entitled to be here. So we're also in the business of running out people we don't agree with as well. I've let that happen to me once, and I intend to speak out against it now.

You go, girl!

Sometimes we have to sit back and think, has this thread run its course or is it only going to cause further aggravation by staying open with no one really learning anything from either side. At least, that's how I see it.
If repetitive arguing continues in a thread, then is that really what anyone on TCL wants?

IMO, as an outside observer of said thread...there seems to be a reasonable dialogue going on. I also see a bunch of people jumping all over a post, promoting an argument, and then demanding the thread be closed.
Disgraceful.

All I saw in the OP was me asking for a "sticky" to be posted like we have agreed on in our rules.
Closing a thread was just secondary.

Don't beat around the bush. We all know what you're referring to.

Well if you know then start the sticky.
This is the reason that we need different mods. Mods only do what they want and not what the people want. They have been asked to delete the thread and it hasn't happened because they get it in their "craw" against certain members and it doesn't get done. It was controversial from the start but they just let it go on and on.
If your going to have that attitude then you need to step down.

I ask again - where is it stated that someone other than the OP can request a thread to be removed? This still stinks of not wanting to confront controversial posts. TCL used to have hair on its chest.
*snort* My responsibility is for Theology. If the Theology members want me to step down, I will. I don't give a crap what people who rarely post in my forums think.

Threads have been closed and deleted by moderators for their controversial nature or for the furor that has been caused by it ever since I have been active on this forum, which is over 3 years now. In numerous cases threads have been closed or deleted without the OP's request or permission.
And yes, only the OP can request a thread be closed or deleted. Those of us who see what this particular thread has become have suggested that our moderators take some sort of action to quell the furor. LilLamb has indicated that she can't because of her involvement (but she indicated that perhaps some action should be taken). I think that it's up to our other moderators to make that decision, but they aren't around yet today.

I'm aware of this, having closed/deleted or cleaned many threads which had gotten out of control myself. I was referring to Rad's comment:

Rads comment is a fact and not a conjecture.
You took that comment from me personally over a month ago and you are letting it cloud your judgment. It is not a acceptable attitude.

As I said ---- YOU NEED TO STEP DOWN-----NOW!!
We do not need biased, immature mods with an agenda.

You think I need to step down, feel free to go to the Theology HQ and give your reasoning, since it is the other Theology mods who put me in my position.
I'm not sure how any comments from you are "clouding my judgment," considering that you rarely post in any of my forums, and I don't often intrude on TCL moderation. All comments from me on this topic are my own opinion only, and I would make them regardless of my status as a mod.

Let me bring you up to date just a little bit. Your mods as you call them work multiple hours everyday and cover mulitiple forums. I have been putting in 5 hours a day minimum. (I do still work a full job to make a living as well)
I don't have time to read every post anymore. If you have a problem that you think needs attention you have 2 choices. PM a mod or post a report. That will get our attention.
Also, there are so many reports that it is impossible to wade through them all, especially given the liberal rules and protocal we have to follow or we get reported ourselves.

This is bloody insane, I'm starting to wonder if people in the Lutheran forums arn't looking for a fight.
Give it up, delete the thread, no reason for a mod to step down.
My stupid poll which was ment to be fun is not worth a bunch of people getting into a fight for TWICE.

I don't even mod this forum...

I'd like to close this thread for now...staff needs to discuss some things. Besides, if it's 90 degrees outside where I live, it's over a thousand degrees in HERE :(
