JEREMIAH 31
31 6 (http://www.usccb.org/nab/bible/jeremiah/jeremiah31.htm#foot6) The days are coming, says the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah. 32 It will not be like the covenant I made with their fathers the day I took them by the hand to lead them forth from the land of Egypt; for they broke my covenant and I had to show myself their master, says the LORD. 33 But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD. I will place my law within them, and write it upon their hearts; I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 34 No longer will they have need to teach their friends and kinsmen how to know the LORD. All, from least to greatest, shall know me, says the LORD, for I will forgive their evildoing and remember their sin no more. 35 Thus says the LORD, He who gives the sun to light the day, moon and stars to light the night; Who stirs up the sea till its waves roar, whose name is LORD of hosts:
After Christ
JOHN 14
23 Jesus answered and said to him, "Whoever loves me will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our dwelling with him. 24 Whoever does not love me does not keep my words; yet the word you hear is not mine but that of the Father who sent me. 25 "I have told you this while I am with you. 26 The Advocate, the holy Spirit that the Father will send in my name--he will teach you everything and remind you of all that (I) told you.

This is a prophecy where the OT will be replaced by the NT, the "new covenant". Under this new covenant the Lord said He will forgive and remember sins no more. This does not prove your point about baptism with the HOly GHost.

Baptism with the Holy Ghost does not exist today.
From above we see that only the apostles were promised the baptism with the Holy Ghost, see Acts 1:1-5 along with this context. From Jn 14:26 for example, it says the Comforter, the Holy Ghost, will bring all things to your remembrance. If you claim to have been baptized with the Holy Ghost, do you have all remembrance? Can you quote from memory Genesis to Revelation?

Greetings in the name of Jesus:
I agree with the original poster; and I wish to add sure verse to confirm its truths.
colossians 2;11. Jesus is..."In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ." the Key words are " Made without hands"...which always denotes Spirit. The circumcision of Christ which removes body of sins, is " made without hands, its spirit.
Two Kinds of people cannot discern this; those who deny Jesus; and those who follow only precepts and doctrines of men.
I pray my words will not offend any. God bless C.F. and all who use it.

Can one not discern that verse 12 does not say buried in a baptism made without hands? This verse says nothing about a baptism done without hands. Acts 8:38 which is the one baptism of Eph 4:5 is a baptism with hands. Acts 8 says nothing about the eunuch being baptized without hands, i.e,. some kind of "Spirit" baptism.

I have been baptised in water, into the body, and in the Holy Spirit-for those of you who, mistakenly say, the baptism in the Spirit doesn't exist today....I give you the Word of God on the subject....
"for this promise is to you, to your children, and to all who are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call" Acts 2:39

Why does it have to be an either/or scenario? Why can't I be baptized in both water and spirit? John 3:5 says unless I am born of both I can not enter the kingdom of God. So I choose both.

No mistake, baptism with the Holy Spirit does not exist today. It was a prophecy of Joel, [Joel 2:28] that has been fulfilled so this baptism is obsolete. No one other than the apostles were promised this baptism, Acts 1:1-5.
Acts 2:38 is the one baptism of Eph 4:5 which is the baptism of the great commission which was water baptism. So the "promise" of verse 39 belongs to those that have been water baptized in the name of the Lord for the remission of sins.

dear ; Jmacvols:
Colossians 2;12 reads. " Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead."
Now to understand the baptism in him buried. one must continue for it says, " wherein also ye are risen with him through faith of operation of God. Here it points to Faith. what is faith, " faith is the substance of things Hoped for evidence of things not yet seen." this omits earthly things and is spiritual baptism. also in 14. its nailed to the cross, which is ordinaces against us.
Now 20 says. " wherefor if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances." this mean Nothing of this world can effect our death to this world with Christ.
now I would like to point out this whole concept of col 2;6-3;11.is about seperating earth and heavenly things and is speaking about walking with Jesus. as being together 3;10 "New man" and 2;20 where for if ye be dead with christ from the rudiments of the world. Which means nothing of this world has effect on you, on salvation of drink, eat. and baptism of water. which even we of flesh. we are circumcised in Christ, " made without hands". is Christ spirit which we walk in.
And when men are born of water and spirit, the water is flesh, or earthly things, spirit is spiritual things. And when born of spirit, the rudiements of earth, and ordinances have no effect on your spirit. They can cut your head off and crucify you, and burn you, but they cannot touch your spirit. But you say, water can touch it. 2;21 touch not; taste not; handle not; which all to perish with the using. Does water baptism perish with the using? spiritual things dont evaporate.
Now you trying to say the ordinance of water baptism, which is clearly a touching, and handlying thing, and ordinance of water baptism; you say does effect the spirit. but it Says here that Nothing of flesh, shall effect this baptism of burried with Jesus and resurection with jesus by faith. And faith totally omits water baptism. which is an act. we are not ever saved by actions or deeds, but by faith alone. and that faith is burried and rooted in Jesus death and resurection where by faith our sin is Nailed to cross, and we are circumcised in this by circumcision made without hands. Now Jesus was killed and crucified and burried by hands.. but our faith in his death and resurection is not made by hands. but through faith, " substance of things hoped for, evidence of things not yet seen".
this is clearly, spiritual things, not touched handled drinking, or ordinances of man done. Water baptism is all those things of the earth.:)
I pray my words do not offend, God bless C.F. and all who use it.

8:14 Now when the apostles in Jerusalem46 (http://www.bible.org/netbible/act8_notes.htm#846) heard that Samaria had accepted the word47 (http://www.bible.org/netbible/act8_notes.htm#847) of God, they sent48 (http://www.bible.org/netbible/act8_notes.htm#848) Peter and John to them. 8:15 These two49 (http://www.bible.org/netbible/act8_notes.htm#849) went down and prayed for them so that they would receive the Holy Spirit. 8:16 (For the Spirit50 (http://www.bible.org/netbible/act8_notes.htm#850) had not yet come upon51 (http://www.bible.org/netbible/act8_notes.htm#851) any of them, but they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)52 (http://www.bible.org/netbible/act8_notes.htm#852) 8:17 Then Peter and John placed their hands on the Samaritans,53 (http://www.bible.org/netbible/act8_notes.htm#853) and they received the Holy Spirit.54 (http://www.bible.org/netbible/act8_notes.htm#854)
8:18 Now Simon, when he saw that the Spirit55 (http://www.bible.org/netbible/act8_notes.htm#855) was given through the laying on of the apostles’ hands, offered them money, 8:19 saying, “Give me this power56 (http://www.bible.org/netbible/act8_notes.htm#856) too, so that everyone I place my hands on may receive the Holy Spirit.” 8:20 But Peter said to him, “May your silver perish with you,57 (http://www.bible.org/netbible/act8_notes.htm#857) because you thought you could acquire58 (http://www.bible.org/netbible/act8_notes.htm#858) God’s gift with money

Greetings in the name of Jesus::hug:
Now I have heard some say; that the spiritual baptism given unto the disciples;that it is different: for all other believers, and that the spiritual baptism of saints and apostles was ended about 100 A.D.
Now this cannot be; for what is right for the apostles and saints, is also the same for All. " God never changes". to say what is right in 1st century, but not right in second century is totally against sound principles of God, of Line upon line, precept upon precept, here a little and there a little. God never changes, If God gave the spirit of Jesus to disciples, he also gives it to all who are with Christ, and never changes, and is always consistent from One believer of Christ, to the Last believer in Christ.
The truths of God are a constant everlasting truths, And Gods words are eternal as are his truths; and this includes his spirit which dwells in the hearts of men.
I praise all who post and wrestle with the spirit in this thread, Who all claim Jesus as Lord: we might disagree on some things, but all are of foundation of Jesus, and welcome and Not denied: I pray my brothers and sisters will love and cherish all of God even these whom have different concepts and doctrines, but are still claiming Jesus and salvation.
I pray my words do not offend. God bless Christian Forum and all who use it.
