Meaning we all go live in tents for seven days :) right :) In remembrance of the 40 years Israel lived in the wilderness with YHVH's protection and provisions. Which also brings to mind the Exodus of Israel as well in bringing them out of the WORLD(Egypt).

There is going to be a gathering at Ocean Shores, Washington for Sukkot this year as I understand there was the last few years. If there is anyone else interested in going as well, I will find out who you need to contact to rent a room for the week there. Either PM me, send me an email or just post here.

That sounds wonderful Tag, I am jealous! Last year I so longed for this year to be able to build my own Sukkah at my house but alas I am losing my house and don't even know where I will be on Sukkot. In fact the way things stand right now I have to be out on Yom Kippur of all days! Please keep me in your prayers.

I don't know what your group will be doing but our congregation builds a large sukkah outside and we hold our first Shabbat service in there. The congregation is invited to come during the week to spend some time in it, eat, sing pray. Before Sukkot starts it is put up and members come and decorate it with the harvest.

Do you have a Lulav? :)

Shalom SonWorshipper,
I am sad at the thought that you are losing your place. I can't think of anything to say except "Everything works together for those who are called according to HIS purpose". I will hope and pray that our Creator will provide an answer to your problem.

I haven't ever built a sukkah. I don't know what we will be doing exactly when we are at Ocean Shores, WA. What is Lulav?

Lulav, and etrog the four species

http://www.modia.org/infos/etudes/lulav.jpeg

Etrog - The fruit of the goodly tree, also known as the citron
Palm branch - know as the lulav
Myrtle - the hadas
Willow - the aravah

"and you shall take of yourselves on the first day (of Sukkot) the fruit of a goodly tree, a palm branch, the myrtle branch, and the willow of the brook; and you shall rejoice before the L-rd (http://www.holidays.net/sukkot/g-d.htm) your G-d (http://www.holidays.net/sukkot/g-d.htm) seven days"
Leviticus 23

It is waved in all four directions of the compass as well as up and down to signify that the L-rd has dominion over all.

Shalom SonWorshipper,

No, I do not have a Lulav.
I reckon I will get one together as well as an Etrog.

:) they aren't that easy to come by, you need to send to Israel to get one, the Etrog grows over there. It can run you $40 - $80US. Depending on how large it is. The people you are celebrating with should have ordered one. You need it in order to fulfill the mitzvot, however it is only required when in the land, at Jerusalem in fact but to participate in what those in the land are doing you will need one.

If anyone is interested - http://www.milechai.com/judaica/etrog-lulav.html

There you can order one, look at how to pick out one or read the blessing used.
