First thing would be to do a word study from scripture. I don't have anything that I have written that deals specifically with the Zadokites. They pop up all over the place because Because of the Covenant relationship between them and David. Only the line from David can be King and only a priest from Zadok can be high priest. We see a return to this relationship in the Messianic Kingdom of Yeshua. Ezekiel 40-44.
Both John the Baptist, and his disciple John who left to follow Yeshua were Essenes and probably Zadokite by heritage. Their fathers were priests of the order that included Zadokite. The place where Yeshua had his last Seder was in the Essene Quarter and this was were the home and palace of David was located because of the relationship between David and the Zadokites. These were among the first to recognise that Yeshua was the Messiah. The last seder takes place there and when the New Covenant is birthed it takes place from that same house with the very large upper room. This later becomes the first Church which was run by James the brother of Yeshua.

There is a really good book out there about the Zadokites in the form of "I did a bible study and this is what I found and experienced" Called "Sons of Zadok" by C. R. Oliver
It is not very extensive, but if you have already begun delving into their name and their services (Which is mentioned several times when it comes to the Temple Service), this is a very interesting read..

HS,
This is a good book. In it he does a comparison between the Eli ministry and the Zadok ministry, comparing life in the spirit to life in the flesh. I really liked the book when I read it in 2000 and have begun reading it again.
Another small book that gives some good information about the Zadok /Essene connection is The Messianic Seal of the Jerualem Church By Schmalz and Fischer. It is a small book only 100 pages but packed with good history on the Jerusalem church.
A lot of the information I have put together comes as chapters in books that deal with other subjects.
Another good book is The dead Sea Scrolls and the Early Church. by Lucetta Mowry
