It has come to my attention this evening as Shabbat is upon us here in Germany, that one of the elders at my former congregation is in great need right now of prayer support and is also in grave financial need.
His job has been sending him to take care of his wife, without pay. She has been ill for about a year (I think it has been 6-9 months) since she has been in remission of her cancer with various things.
The latest is that she had been having fluid buildup on her lungs and had been in and out of the hospital treating that. She has also had other treatments, and the news I had on Monday was that one of her lungs had collapsed and the doctors were reinflating it (?).. she has opted to stay in the hospital until they discharge her on Monday, as the catheter they have in her lung is still discharging fluid.
The elders in charge of our online prayer list found out today that Brandon has been being sent without off time, and without any pay (it is typical in most US work-places that there is a clause for those who have illness in the immediate family or death in the family to have limited off time with pay)... this means meeting any of their financial obligations, let alone food is a hassle.
I didn't know it had gone this far, and Brandon is not one to ever ask for anything other than prayer. He is one of the most compassionate and understanding leaders I have ever had.
If you guys would, please remember Mary and Brandon Reismann, they are really close to all our hearts and I just am at a loss here :( at how to help other than to spread the word and ask for more prayer.
