View Full Version : Staff Pampering thread and time to focus on us thread.....

I know We are working our tails off and I get PMs daily from many who are burned out in here and I understand:hug:, this may not help but I hope it encourages us to keep up the good work AND take time out to be refresh as well.....to the most recent PM I recieved I wrote this back..." ...Most of this process is just finding out what unites us and focusing on that and making a forums based on those things and then the stuff that separates us can become secondary and hopefully fade into the distance ...
Right now my focus is on uniting the ET area... for the past month we have been busy helping the forums unite and many have been at such odds with themselves that the change on 7/7/07 was actually a blessing in disguise as it made us stop and take inventory of what is really important to us and started healing, many forums are realizing what a gift their brothers and sisters are to them now and have put aside the fighting and are working hard at getting along ...Its Hard Work!!!!! but the rewards are there and we can begin to see that now.....
Now I want to beginning to unite our ET area with a strong sound team whose goal is much the same: find out what unites us and focus on that and make a Staff Team based on those things and then just like in the forums, the stuff that does separates us can become secondary and hopefully fade into the distance ...
I learned a hard lesson in the past year and that was this I cannot please everyone ....when I try to please one I usually end up disappointing another, that is my biggest problem and the biggest personal and staff problem that exists in CF too, we want to be good servants and good leaders and make good decisions that will produce a peaceful and happy forums and we somehow end up making a huge effort that produces very little results, it breaks our hearts too because we only want to help:sigh:.... but if we do our best to help them help themselves just like Erwin is trying to do in here, we will be empowering them to work together, to decide for themselves and then our job becomes simply helping them get those needs met thru serving and leading where they need us to lend a hand....The more we can do as staff to help them become independent the happier we will make them and the more fulfilled they will be and we will be.....Does that make sence? I have goals for the forums that are practically met and I am soooo happy about that we have FSRs in just about every forums and wikis in every forum and some of the forums are actively involved in their own forum governments I am soooooo happy and greatful that you all did the hard work of accomplishing that very Huge task....
Now how about us?
we have needs right now And I have goals for us in ET staff now that our forums are more secure....
The main goals are I want to strengthen our report area and our mod apps area but not with all the FSRs I personally want in there but with what WE want in there... What regulation, FSRs, protocols, would you like to see in the working of reports? Member restrictions? Do you want more structure? or more freedom? Do you want to decide how to work them from denom to denom? How bout in utilizing our floating Super Mods that go into multi Areas? And what about all those questions in regards to Mod Apps too?
My second goal is staffing...I would like to increase our staff even double it in some forums, what are our needs? lets take this to the max, what would be the best working staff we could possibly have? and how many more staffers would we need to accomplish that goal?
And I want to go futher even and ask where are our personal needs right now? and how can we help each other in staff meet those needs?......Imagine you and I are regular members and someone just came up to us and said how do you want this place to look? What would be the things we need or the problems we would want to focus on resolving in our own area ET Staff? We are a forum too right? we have strong relationships in here and want to develop more as we serve side by side, what do we need?
Now that we took care of our members how can we take care of us? A little Staff pampering is needed , what needs do you have?

Definitely more .... more staff so each has more time and more capacity to share more.
We used to have fun threads in the staff areas but now it seems people are too weighed down threshing the corn to take time out for just plain fun. And you know the old saying "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy"!

I liked the Theology protocal that I posted in this thread:
http://www.christianforums.com/t5779695-i-like-this.html
However, three moderators are needed - and we are short.
I'd like to see something done about debating and flaming in reports. we definitely have a problem with inappropriate debating and flmng in report threads.

That said, there is only one thing I want: simple, to the point, crystal clear, rules.
I want peace too, but we ain't gonna get that for a while ;)
I just want to be able to do my job, and enjoy good fellowship with my fellow staff and my fellow members in OBOB. That's all.
I think the problem is that too many have forgotten the reason most people come here: to have a good time fellowshipping with good friends. This is all I want.
And I will add my personal view on what has been going on: the reformation is a disaster. The only good thing I see is the openness of the report threads. I have no quams with open forums as I am who I am in Staff forums and in main forums. I have nothing to hide. Also, this gave a lot of people a REAL eye opener at how difficult it can be to mod on CF. This was good.
But this whole changing rules, and welcome all to every forum, and members decide this and that,,, this is driving me nuts!
I will admit to you, my team, that I have already stated very clearly in the "Discuss rules thread" that I am sick and tired of trying to keep up with all the wikis. I have NO intentions of doing it anymore. JeffreyLoyd has been very good at providing our OBOB team some good, sound, stable rules for our Forum,,, and as it is the only forum I moderate, I will obide by those rules.

My current frustration is reports.
It seems we need to be helping each other out as there is not enough staff.
and I am frustrated that more are not seeing the problem as I do. fwiw

I know we didnt discuss this but I would love to double staff , we have sooooo many needs and not enough staff to do it....IMO all our buzy forums need 4 mods, 2 Catagory Mods and 2 Supermods (the quiet ones can have one of each) that way we can have time to fellowship and play:tutu: I almost forget how to play:scratch: someone remind me:P
Remember how funny I use to be... Jim I had you almost peeing your pants once ....ahhhhhh the good ol days^_^

I dont have a broom for ya but I do have a job:thumbsup: how would you like to round up a list of Supermods from all over ET who would be willing to check our ET reports forum everyday and help do some reports with us...the only criteria would be to PM the mod team in that forum and ask if its ok(they can add the congregation forum's name to their siggy like mine below) and then they only meed to read that teams wiki so they know the FSRs.......We need those back up floating Mods real bad right now:thumbsup:
OHHHH another reason why we need LARGE teams is because in January some of us will be sent back out there to reapply for our positions again and that will be a huge hole in staff when that happens sooooooooooooo we need to train a whole lot of new Mods right now before that day comes:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

I am involoved with Nondenom, NCBC-RM, Baptist, Anabaptist, Fundamentalist, WWMC, Looking for a Church, and Semper Reformanda. Thankfully several are very quiet.
I am willing to participate in the Conservative Christian forum reports...and I think that forum will heat up.
However, one thng I think needs to be addressed is that this is in the rules:
Report threads are for the discussion of the reported post only, and are not for personal discussions unrelated to the reported post and enforcement of applicable rules.
Report threads are not the place to debate what rules a subforum needs to have. It is up to the subforum to decide its rules in keeping with the general rules of CF.Member commentary in reports: Members are free to read the public reports threads. They may comment in report threads if they have some clarification to add to the discussion about whether the posted report is a violation or not. However, further attacks, personal discussions, or continuation of the argument from the reported thread are NOT acceptable and are subject to deletion.
We, the staff, need to enforce this. We can delete posts that continue the arguement in the report thread and personal discussions, etc.

Couldn't agree more there, Sue.
As of yesterday, I asked Tish to have me added to CC and Baptist but I'll be more than willing to roam around and add my 2 penn'orth here and there if peeps are agreeable.

Awwwe thanks Tishri
Yes I must admit, with humility and remorse, that I know very little of the whole ET team. As I moderate OBOB, i know the OBOB team very well,,, but I do need to get to know the rest of the team.
Note to self: spend time in ET Staff Team forum more often :)
As for us getting to know each other better, we could always PM each other and get acquainted
our whole ET reports area looks like DR in some ways :sigh:, I hear ya and want to work out the kinks in here too:thumbsup:, lets iron out the wrinkles and get us some help too how does that sound?
We have been somewhat sheltered at OBOB. We have had more trolls lately yes, but the reports are not that different than what we have seen prior to reformations.
With the exception of course that we now have members input once in a while. They have been very polite though, so I must admit I do see a lot of good in this idea of opening the reports. But this is OBOB,,, I have heard in some other forums it has been disastreous of late. :sigh:
