An FSR comes from an Admin (or designated by Admin (no rules on this yet)) person who oversees Wiki's and see's consensus occuring, or on some teams, polls with yes results. Then the Admin takes a Snapshot.
This is now the FSR effective only when posted, stickied, closed, in specific forum(s).
Once a snap shot occurs either for vote or if consensus arose, it may not be altered in any way by any staff.
It can only be replaced by new Snap shot, and old deleted or closed, and new one posted in specific forum, stickied, and closed.
After posting new FSR stickies (closed) in a specific forum, be good practice to post in that forum that new Forum Specific Rules are now in place and direct them to where sticky is so that members are aware of new rules.
(Many don't know what a sticky is, and forum specific rules should be written out as well instead of using FSR.)
A link to a Wiki is not an FSR. Wiki's do not contain the rules. Wiki's are there for constant edit and discussion.
Wiki's are always changing and meant to be and should not be closed or protected except for exceptions, such as trolls wreaking havoc (temp close), merging by Wiki Staff, numerous rule vios, cooldowns, clean ups, members consensus to table a Wiki and also for how long, etc. Above is not rules yet, is best practice at the moment.
Wiki's that have served their purpose also should not be closed, but they will drift down on list as members may wish to bring topic current again.
Members do not know process, please do not take direction from members as to what to do in regards to Wiki closing, protecting, etc. Only consensus in Wiki's determines direction to take.
To understand consensus ideals better, see this post by Ron here (http://www.christianforums.com/showpost.php?p=37092405&postcount=7).
Seen closure and protection after snapshot taken and poll added in a thread, and this is not best practice. Wiki's should always be open and unprotected unless (exceptions written above.)
Snapshot is already protected by one's copying to thread with poll, if polls used; or once placed in specific forum(s) closed and stickied.
If have Wiki's on Mod Apps, need to update wiki to current procedure/rules, snapshot and post snapshot, now FSR in Mod App forums sticky and closed. May contain rules and informational so in Wiki leave links to where members can effect change, generally which will be in General Wiki as to Mod Apps only.
May be easier to check if another team has one already updated to new procedure and rules pertaining to mod apps and copy article over to your teams wiki article.
If have Wiki on Team Protocol, Moderating and such as pertains to Teams specifically, need to snapshot and post in forum sticky and close. I believe best place is Team HQs. Presently, unstickied ones are in Team Forums Wiki, but only FSRs stickies there should relate to Wiki's.
If an FSR applies to all forums, or several or many forums, needs to be placed in each forum pertains to. (Excluding Team protocol, and the like.)
If vote done by poll, need to also put links in all forums, to all that snapshot pertains to, to to where poll is occuring.
Voting should not be limited to one particular forum in certain (or many) forums, though not all.
For example, congregations would only be in specific congregation, but if politics and topic pertains to all subforums then needs Poll thread link in all subforums.
Please see Wiki below for more information needed as such as what should also be contained in Snapshots.
If merges needed and any help at all, please contact I'ddie4him2 or me.
There should not be two wikis on same topic in same Wiki forum. They need to be merged if occurs.
Also, contact Ron (mnphysicist) for help as well.
We need unified process of Wiki procedures and rules. At the moment there is this Wiki:
Wiki: Wiki's - Guidelines, Rules and Procedures (http://www.christianforums.com/t5764794-wiki-wikis-guidelines-rules-and-procedures.html)
It is in process (always will be) and much more needed, but has enough already for unified process.
Please post discussion and edits to help develop this Wiki if you can. Would love to see teams needs and situations.
It also contains much helpful information.
Above Wiki is not snapshotted, nor is what I've written you (in this pm) rules either. It is (this pm) my understanding at this point, as well as much guidance and learning from Ron, as to best practices.
Understandably, there is much confusion and frustraton as regards many topics on CF.
In re to Wiki processes, staff may not have time due to staff shortages, as well as some staff and many members do not have an understanding of the Wiki process.
Thus we need unified guidelines and rules for all Wiki processes. New Staff and members will always be incoming and need to learn as well.
As well as we need information of many other things pertaining to CF in one place.
I see different posters saying exact opposite on procedure, protocol, etc.
Since all is new it will take time to achieve the above, and then there will be less confusion.
Thanks,
tapero
please let one of the Admins know when you have clear unchanging FSRs ready to be sticky'd in your forums ok? Copy what you want to post to one of us and we'll stick it right away ok?
