Hello everyone ,
First, a little background: I'm a newbie here on CF. Although I was raised Catholic (Parochial School, Confirmation...), I am no longer a part of the Catholic Church. The only other church I have attended is a Lutheran Church which I was very happy with, became a member of, and my children were baptized in, but we are 1,000+ miles away from that church now.
I also have to share that I was recently saved. I used to think that being "born-again" was rather silly -- but I apologize, because now I truly know what it means... I am so very happy, and have a closeness with Jesus and God that I had not felt since I was a child...
I'm having trouble finding a church in my area -- most of the Lutheran churches in my area (even the LCMS ones) do not celebrate communion (or Eucharistic Celebration) every week (which totally shocks me). There are a few other Lutheran churches in neighboring areas which I will be checking out, as well as a few other Christian churches, but for now we are "homeless" so to speak...
Anyway, while I look for a church I really want to start reading the Bible again, and I would like to study it as well. Oh, sure, I am familiar with the Bible -- especially from attending mass every Sunday and through Religion classes throughout my childhood, and I have read the Gospels, and Genesis, Proverbs, and have consulted Psalms when I am feeling particularly down, but I have never read the Bible all the way through...
I was wondering if you all had any suggestions for an online bible study resource that I and my family could use (my children are aged 9-15)? I did find one site that was recommended by an online friend from a different forum, and looking it over briefly it seems a great resource although definitely geared at the adult user.
I was also wondering if there is a specific order one would recommend when beginning Bible study? As I said, I'm familiar with the Bible, but I feel like I'm looking with new eyes now, and I want to get serious about knowing all of what's in there! :)
Anyway, I'd appreciate any and all help. I'm a great "Googler" but I find that personal testimony beats a search engine ranking! ;)
God bless you and yours,
