I have stepped out of the boat onto the water. I stand on the Word of God. When the waves and the wind tossed and came against me, I did not sink for my faith is strong. I stood firm on the True Word and Jesus is standing next to me.

Matthew 14:22-33

And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship(the ministry), and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitude away.
And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.

But the ship(the ministry) was now in the midst of the sea(the water/word), tossed with waves(the religious came against it), for the wind was contrary(for it differed from their religious beliefs).

And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea(the water/word), (going forth revealing the true word )

And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea(the water/word)(going forth and revealing the true word), they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit(it is an Angel of the Lord who hath revealed this word), and they cried out for fear.

But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.

And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water(the true word)
And he said, Come.(come unto me in the true word) And when Peter was come down out of the ship(come down out of the ministry), he walked on the water(true word), to go to Jesus.

But when he saw the wind boisterous(the religious coming strongly against him) he was afraid; and beginning to sink(beginning to lose faith), he cried, saying Lord, save me.

And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand(strengthend his faith), and caught him, O thou of little faith, wherefore dist thou doubt?

And when they were come into the ship(when they went in unto the ministry), the wind ceased(the religious ceased to come against them).

Then they that were in the ship(the ministry) came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.

In all the parables there are natural teachings, and also spiritual teachings. The natural types the spiritual, and the spiritual types the natural throughout all God's word.

Notice that Peter was the only one of the disciples that came out of the ministry and walked on the water(the true word of God). The others stayed in the ministry where they felt comfortable. It takes the true word of God to get to Jesus.

Any of you ready to step out of the boat?

Many Blessings,
Lisabeth

Thank you for that insightful post Lisabeth.
Here is another verse with like connotations.

Ephesians 4:13-16 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

You are using this symbolically.

Do you also believe it to be literal ?

I believe the story actually happened.
But I also believe that God uses earthly events and things we see and can understand to show us heavenly things that are not seen.
