Good morning! I figured we could do with a hello-how-are-you sort of thread in here. So I'll start.

*pours herself a cup of coffee and adds hazelnut creamer to it*

Today should be interesting for me. I'm getting a bronze award at work today for my partcipation in a big project last year. Bad part -- listening to all the speeches and having to dress up. Good part -- seeing friends who have left the agency who return for the ceremony, and cheering on all the other awardees while we hear about all the various projects that are being recognized. It always amazes me how much we DO each year.

geetrue walks in with his cup of Cappuccino and lays it on the table, pulls up high stool, perches and says,

"Agency"?

"What agency"?

"FBI", "CIA","IRS", or an insurance agency?

as I calmly prepare to depart depending on the answer. http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/images/smilies/icon_eek.gif

Just kidding, great idea ... may your day be blessed and your dress not stick to any body parts when you get
up to say thank you for your bronze award. http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif

Have a Holy Spirit day in the Lord.

This is a great idea for a thread, synger. :)

I'm busy getting prepared for a week vacation that starts on Friday. I'm so looking forward to the time away from the stress. ;)

The ceremony went well. It was an answer to prayer, actually. I've been feeling "less than engaged" in my job lately... my team has gone from four web infrstructure people last year to... me. And one half-time person who works remotely. Sometimes it's been really hard for me to care about my work when no one else seems to.

I've been asking God to give me guidance and energy for my work, and to help me overcome my laziness at work (I've gotten to the point at times when I say "I don't care" and slough off work most of the day). Finally, this morning in fact, I just threw up my hands and said, "it's yours, Lord. I'm not able to generate my own enthusiasm. I can't see the big picture because I'm too focused on the annoying, petty politics and the lack of support. I rest on You, because I can't do this anymore myself."

And while we were in the award ceremony, I was overcome with a joy for the work that we do. It's beyond the office politics. We help people, in the day to day things that they need. For the two hours of the ceremony, we heard all sorts of information about what different teams have done and are doing to help the public.

And it made a real difference to me. God spoke to me clearly, saying "This... THIS is your big picture here at work. Not the turkeys in the office, but Joe and Maria Citizen who need the information your web site provides."

Oh, and the cake was okay, too. *grins*

I want to vote, but I'll be leaving Friday afternoon for one week, returning the following Friday. Don't know if I'll make it during that time or not. Depending on how the week goes, and whether or not I have net access where I'll be, I may or may not be online during that time. Obviously, that is my lowest priority on the to do list. ;)

I couldn't help but notice that you have four little children, plus one husband that I know of ...

For coffee, juice, five cheese danishes (if your husband was at work that is) would come to over twenty american dollars easy.

So here's a reciepe for you, enjoy ...

This recipe for Strawberry-Cheese Danish couldn't be any easier.
INGREDIENTS:

1 can (8-count) crescent rolls
1/4 cup strawberry jam
1/4 cup whipped cream cheese
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
milk
sugarPREPARATION:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Line baking sheet with parchment paper. Unroll cresent rolls. Pressing 2 triangles into 1 rectangle. Continue with remaining triangles. Completely combine jam, cream cheese and cinnamon. Drop about 2 tablespoons of mixture onto one end of rectangle. Fold over and press edges together. Place on already prepared cookie sheet. Do the same with the other 3 pieces of dough. Brush each top with milk and sprinkle with sugar. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until lightly brown. Serve warm.

Now, I have to have a very late dinner and drive home (a little more than an hour to get home), and I still have to pack for tomorrow.

I don't know if I'll be online at all while I'm gone, so if I don't talk to anyone until then, I pray that everyone will have a blessed time, both online and offline. God Bless everyone, and I'll see you in a week. :)

Hi! Can I fellowship with you guys/gals?

I'm a latte drinker (almost have to be in the Pacific NW). Right now though, I gonna have myself a cup of tea.

My husband and I have had the most difficult time finding the right church for us as a family. Our kids LOVE the church we've attended for the past couple of months, but my husband and I? Not so much. Last week we walked out so depressed by the low energy and lack of fire that we don't ever want to go back. So tonight (a Saturday PM service), we'll be attending a new church, a little out of the way, but the website looks promising. Perhaps tomorrow we'll visit another. We're exhausted of the search! Its been a year and a half of continuous searching.

How's everyone's weekend so far?

So far so good, just got through taking a nap ... grabbed a cold ice water out of the freezer and it sure tasted good, over 100 degrees today.

I put maybe four or five bottled waters in the freezer every morning when I get up. Then when it gets hot I grab one, they get soft fast in this heat.

Hope you find a good church ralangley ... I have found that churches with lots of children are more holy.

Hi!

Boy, I can relate to this. I recently ended my search for a church. I had only been looking for a couple of months but it was exhausting and depressing, so I can imagine how difficult your search has been. Hang in there and trust that God will lead you where you need to be.

synger

Welcome to all the newcomers! We're glad to have you here.

I agree, finding a church can be difficult, especially when you and your spouse have different denominational backgrounds. I was Presbyterian, Hunter was Baptist... So we looked around for a church that focused primarily on the Gospel, and taught infant baptism, and had a strong confessional and Scriptural doctrine.

And we ended up Lutheran. Never thought I'd see that. *laughs*

God will lead you where He wants you to be.

Hi All!

Just finished a mocha I bought at Costco ($1.35!!!). Yummy. Unfortunately, I forgot to suck it all down before I came home so my daughters ended up drinking half of it () .

Had a great time at the church service we went to last night. The message was timely for me - essentially it was to stop grumbling and start praising. Love to grumble myself, but I'm trying to break myself of the habit.

The church was spirit-filled and lively. My husband and I have been hungry for a pentacostal church that fits our entire family. We have another church to try next week.

Hope everyone is having a great day!!!

Hi Joy. I've learned that certain foods aggravate pain.

Sugar is one of those things, as is tomatoes, white potatoes, eggplants, corn; wheat and many other grains like rye, barley and spelt; gluten, red meat, poultry, eggs, shellfish, peppers, refined carbs (sugar and white flour), and trans fats.

Instead, try eating salmon, walnuts, onions, blueberries, sweet potatoes, spinach, garlic, fresh pineapple, ginger, and turmeric (a key compound in curry).

A spinach salad with blueberries, walnuts, feta cheese, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar would be a perfect choice.

That's a lovely icon! My brother in law and his family attend a Calvary Chapel (or something along those lines). We disagree on some things, of course, but the basic doctrine is rock-solid and their Bible teaching is very strongly emphasized.

My nephew stayed at our house one weekend, and we took him to church with us on Sunday. What a difference for him, to attend a liturgical Lutheran service! We talked a lot about it afterward, because it was so new to him. It was a great time to share.

I grew up Catholic, and I don't think Lutheran is much different in terms of the way services are done (from what I understand). It is definately a culture shock between the two types of services.

I love the teaching at Calvary Chapel. It is one of the things I like about it. The worship is awesome as well. :)

Well I'm going camping for the long weekend tomorrow, Erwin has said he will set up the Icon for us, but with the logo thing going on he might need a little nudge.

I had to travel to New York for work this week. My sister lives in Jersey City (right across the river) so I was able to visit with her two nights of my trip. VERY wonderful.

It was a fun trip, and the meetings were, by and large, quite useful. But BOY am I glad to be home again! Today is Gem's school open house. She'll meet her new teacher. She's going into first grade, and we've been spending the last few weeks moving her into the bigger bedroom (which was our library/junk room). So now she has a "big girl room". She's all excited.

It has been quieter since 7/7/7, but there's still enough fun to go around. ;)

The forums seem to be a bit more intimate now...less overwhelming...so I guess that's a positive aspect to the changes.

Happy Weekend!

I've not noticed a drop in members on line but certainly the guest count has gone down.

Hmmm, that's an interesting observation. Wonder what it means?

Well, part of it is the result of all the changes, I believe. Another part is just the nature of online forums. Changes as real life takes priority. Things like that.

Stopped for a while, All Graphics'd out at the moment.

and beginning to wonder why I started a new thread, how is that sometimes you just want to ask a quetion but end up defending the question asked when all you really wanted was just peoples views.

Been there, done that. Seems to happen a lot more than we would like, I think.

Its not a belief but something I have just read and wanted to explore further, oh well, Maybe there something in the fact of defending it that should tell me something.

Yep, we can even learn from debate, if we're open to it. :)
