This is just a notice being posted so that all who are interested may know about the upcoming debate between Godzman and Aggie03 concerning the Assembly of God's Fundamental Truth #7 - that the baptism of the Holy Spirit occurs today and the ability to speak in tongues is direct evidence of that. The debate will be conducted with the following guidline and rules:

Posting Order

Affirmative Opening Statement: Must outline points to be made, can make a point in this statement, too.

Negative Opening Statement

1st Aff.
1st Neg.
2nd Aff.
2nd Neg.
3rd Aff.
3rd Neg.
4th Aff.
4th Neg.
5th Aff.
5th Neg.

Affirmative First closing argument
Negative Closing Argument
Affirmative Final Argument

After one side has had a chance being the affirmative, the debate will be continue with the opposite point of view as the affirmative. This gives both sides an opportunity to present material as the negative is only allowed to respond to material posted by the affirmative.

Posts will be limited in size to 10,000 characters of original material (this does not include scripture or quotes from the other side's arguments).

The guidelines that the Bible establishes for sharing the gospel will be used: speech seasoned with salt, sharing the truth in love. This means no swearing, no name calling, no ridiculing. I don't think we'll have a problem with this ;).

Each team will be given three days (Weekends don't count against those days, though posts may still be made on weekends) to make a post.

Should either side become convinced that they are in error they may concede at any time during the debate.

The only source that may be authoritatively quoted from is the Bible. We are interested in discussing what the Bible says, not men.

The start date for the debate is today, the 18th of September, 2003, giving Godzman 3 days to post his affirmative opening statement in the Formal Debates Subforum of Interdenominational Dialogue.
