Should CC have a minimalist statement which all Conservatives can agree on or a statement which includes more than one definition so something like:

A conservative Christian believes this ... A conservative Protestant definition

or

... a conservative RCC, EO definition.

Hi, I believe Talitha's opening statement, with some modification is fine.

A conservative Christian believes this ...five solas, inerrancy etc

or

... Scripure and Tradition etc

It's fear of that Catholic definition about the means of ascertaining truth that is keeping some here from agreeing to any reference using a word like traditional or tradition. We've got to get over that obstacle, and it's not just a matter of minimal vs compound wording.

Me too. Possibly it needs to be put into some actual language rather than us saying we would go for the idea.

That was when only one definition was to be used. It may be possible that when there are more than one definitions to chose from then your fears will not come to fruition.

What would be your suggested wording for a minimalistic statement?

A thousand pardons. I plainly misunderstood what you'd intended, thinking that the first of the two was the complex one (five solas and etc), and the second the minimalist one.

Let's see if this two-track approach is the key to solving the problem.
