You know, I almost added a comment "except baked, not crocheted" at the end of my post.
But then again, Rice Krispie treats aren't "baked". You heat everything in a pot on the stove, then just mush it into a pan and let cool. Technically, not "baking".

I left so that y'all hash out your rules as y'all saw fit.
As per the rules I read today (8/8/7) it appears I would qualify as a Conservative Christain (I'm also a Fundamentalist).
In addition, I am EXTREMELY pleased that y'all see fit to affirm all the ancient Creeds and acknowledge that The One and Only Holy Catholic Church is a title that the Roman Pontiff can not simply appropiate by fiat. It belongs to ALL true Christians, as it was known for the first 1056 years of Christendom without dissent.
If any of y'all would support my membership, I'd be glad to drop by on occasions. I am FULLY aware that "sola scriptura" and "Bible literalness" are not positions I can "push" around here, but which I can maintain for myself with the same peace that I extend on this site to those who have a high view of Tradition (I have a low view of Tradition, but agree not to berate those with a high view about this stance).
I will drop by in a few days to see if y'all believe I can be a full member. My views are all over the "fundy" site, if anyone cares to look.

I have a question! :)
I notice in the rules that new members have to be sponsored by 5 current members now. Are we going to have threads with new member "apps" or will it just be done within the sign-up thread.
The reason I'm asking is that a non-member has posted a thread in the CC forum, and has been invited to sign-up (by myself and another person), but I was just wondering about how one goes about getting approved now... I want to make sure I don't confuse anyone! LOL Thanks!

We are still in open membership right now. Those rules have not yet taken effect as far as I know. We have a poll in which about 1/2 of the Conservatives have voted, but I think we need the rest to vote on when open membership will end.

http://www.christianforums.com/t5857934-rules-for-conservative-christians-as-of-8-7-07.html
Copy and paste of the section:
In order to become a member, you must have a minimum of 50 posts and your membership must be supported by 5 current members.
So, I think we should clarify if this is a rule in effect right now, and if not it needs to be removed. (I personally voted it should start happening right away, but as you said, the poll is still open...).

The first post of this thread has a member list, and it was last edited yesterday.
(Also, Tangeloper, it may be helpful to link to the whole page, not just a single post. Linking to a specific post doesn't let you see what forum or thread the post is in. Linking to the whole page lets someone know where it is if they want to find it in the future, without having to find your post first.)

I saw something awhile back about "some here being members in the WWMC" or something like that.
I was just wondering what those letters stood for.
I tried locating the post but couldn't find it, if memory serves it seemed that whatever the WWMC is (and I might even have the letters wrong) it was in conflict with this forum.
Ignore this message if u don't know what I'm trying to ask. I'm not sure I know how to ask it anyway...

Hello, I consider myself a Conservative Christian but has the rules stated that can be an umbrella term so I'll explain and see if I fit in here.
I'm not what they call a "Fundalmentalist" though I do firmly believe in the fundamentals of the Holy Bible. I'm not what they call Puritanical either. By this I don't believe everything that came of the late 20th century is a sin. What I do believe in: That the Holy Bible is the true inspired Word of God. Jesus Christ is the Holy Son of God and of the Triune God. He was born of a virgin birth lived and was tempted as the Son of Man and eventually at the end of His ministry because of His love died on the cross to pay for my sins and rose from the tomb on the third day. I guess that's the basics. Politically: I am pro-life. From the evidence presented no one can tell me that that innocent pre-born child is just "fetal tissue". I am against so called "gay rights". We shouldn't persecute homosexuals but their lifestyle is not a viable lifestyle and is clearly contrary to the Scriptures - God's Word. I strongly believe in the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights as INDIVIDUAL rights, not collective rights. Generally I follow the Republican platform though I'm not in the Republican Party.
Where I may be a bit liberal on. I do have a beer occassionally. I don't get drunk but occassionally with a Mexican meal or after work I will have A beer. We may dress comfortably...in moderation. When it's hot and muggy a few less clothes I believe is appropriate as long as it is in moderation.
See if I fit in?

Thank you and God bless, Mahmood. If you are asking if one must believe in "young earth creation" to be a conservative, I believe the answer is no. However, I do believe that conservatives reject the theory of evolution when it comes to the origins of humanity. Is that what you were asking?

This is not what is stated by forum rules, what you describe is fundamentalism. A conservative may hold the belief of creationism, but it is not a fundamental aspect of conservative belief.

"I'm sorry I may not have been clear in my post. We do believe in creationism, whether it be "young earth", "old earth", or "gap theory", but we do not believe man evolved from animals. The Bible is clear on that.- desmalia"
This is not what is stated by forum rules, what you describe is fundamentalism. A conservative may hold the belief of creationism, but it is not a fundamental aspect of conservative belief.
God Bless, Mahmood.
An amendment must be made then, toute de suite.

My thoughts are that making it harder to get in will save hurt feelings later on. We should make it harder to get in and almost impossible to be kicked out.

...
Biblical Literalism – Not all conservatives hold an absolute literal interpretation of scripture. This may especially be seen in the areas of eschatology and the Genesis creation account."I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give to the one who thirsts from the spring of the water of life without cost. He who overcomes will inherit these things, and I will be his God and he will be My son. But for the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death." ~Revelation 21:6-8, NASB
The preceding points are held to be true by this forum and its members. Debate which denies or calls into question the aforementioned points will not be tolerated. People who disagree with or question these may visit and ask earnest questions but may not debate these points.
This is not the "Fundamentalist" forum. Fundamentalists are generally conservative, but not all conservatives are fundamentalists. Though most fundamentalists are very welcome here, we would like to stress that there is a difference between “fanatical” fundamentalists and those who define themselves as just “plain old Fundamentalists”. Our purpose in this forum is not to divide, but unite. As a result, those who find themselves on the more extreme end of this definition will need to restrain themselves when commenting here.
"Conservative Christian", both on CF and in the real world, represents an umbrella term under which many individuals, denominations, churches and other organizations unify in order to forward a common cause. Because of this, and in order to maintain unity on the Conservative Christian forum, posts regarding specific denominational practices and beliefs (eg. baptismal formulae, whether one can lose their salvation, the specifics of what happens at communion, etc...) should be made in the proper denominational or theological forum instead of in the Conservative Christian forum.
General Rules:
Only confirmed members of the CC forum may apply to be moderators of the forum, and only confirmed members of the CC forum are permitted to vote on the applicants.
Confirmed members are listed. Any new member wishing to become a member of the congregation must be added to the confirmed list before being able to vote or debate. We also add an exception to this rule that the staff/members have discretion (on a case-by-case basis) to allow limited debate with non-members when outreach is the goal.
Because of the stark contrast between the Liberal viewpoints vs. Conservative Christian viewpoints, members in this forum can only be a member of one, not both, of these fora.
In order to become a member, you must have a minimum of 50 posts and your membership must be supported by 5 current members.
In order to start a thread, members must have a minimum of 50 posts.
Non-Christians and Non-Conservative Christians may post questions but not give answers regarding conservative beliefs. Non-members of the forum also may not give advice to posters who come to this forum looking for help and advice. I'm not sure if I am a fundamentalist or a conservative.
I believe there are some places in the Bible which are true, but are not meant to be taken LITERALLY.
In my opinion, we need to know what a certain book meant to its original intended audience in order for us to best understand what it should mean to us today.
We can't take scripture out of its' historical context and just apply it around any way we want to.
Is that enough information for you to tell me if I am a Conservative or not?

There is a description of "fundamentalist" views here:
http://www.christianforums.com/showpost.php?p=37553319&postcount=2
I don't see anything wrong with this list.
There are some additional views that "extreme fundamentalists" hold:
http://www.christianforums.com/showpost.php?p=37642333&postcount=5
I differ with the KJVOnly position.
Fundamentalists are generally young earth creationists and take the genesis account of creation as literal historical truth.I agree with this.
Although there may have been some change in this area, fundamentalist churches in the US has traditionally been anti-charismatic.I believe the Charismatic gifts should be used today.
As far as the Tribulation and the Millennium, I have no idea what to believe.
Each explanation makes sense to me when I hear it!:P

How can we even call them a Christian when they reject the nature of God? Are they to say there is three Gods? Conservative Christianity upholds the principles of the bible, rejecting the nature of Christ rejects what Christ said in his own words in the bible. One who is non-trinity I do not feel is even a Christian, let alone a conservative Christian. Hope that helps.

I live in Al Mina, so part of the city of Dubai. Just accost the Al Shidagha tunnel if you are coming from the airport or if you are on Sheikh Rashad road you would continue straight when it turns off into Seikh Zayed Road and keep going in till you hit the water, which would be Al Mina. Maybe 10 minuet drive along the coast from the Palm Jumeirah. Our new house is currently being built, so a few more months living here.

I am not one to disagree with proven science that does not contradict the word of God. If you read my profile my view on the origin of life is that it does not matter to me. I find no difference if we evolved from a single cell over the course of trillions of year, were created whole from the dust of the earth 4000 years ago or whatever theory there is. The only important fact to me is that God created me, as he created all mankind and all that exists. Through whatever method he did, the details of it are irrelevant to me and my faith in God.

Libertarian are politically conservative, near the extreme of the right wing. But that does not equate to a conservative Christian philosophy. Libertarian support legalization of drug, homosexual marriage, abortion. They oppose charity and foreign aid, social service and the other institution which fundamental to a biblical life. I just do not see how one who hold such view could be a conservative Christian. His support for homosexual marriage, abortion, prostitution, drug use, contraceptives and fornication is what concern me the most.

“Not that my political views, are any of your business...I'm just bored enough to reply to this silliness, to pass the time -RobNJ”
This is a forum for conservative Christians. When someone comes who supports a Political party that holds values that are the exact opposite of what a conservative Christian would it concerns me that you are not sincere as to your Christian values and will be disruptive. As a Christian I hold the laws of God as highest, I could never support a political party that would legalize homosexuality and abortions, allow for gay marriage, promote open drug use and prostitution, allow for contraceptives and make adultery and fornication legal. I feel as if it is impossible for one who truly holds Conservative Christian values to support such a anti-Christian and anti-moral institution as the libertarian political party and philosophy is.
“I don't think that any of the bolded items above should be left to the government to legislate.” -RobNJ
Which means that you would have abortion legal in this nation, homosexual marriage legal, adultery legal, fornication legal, condoms legal, birth control legal, drug use legal, prostitution legal. Not to mention that Libertarians subscribe to social Darwinism, completely contrary to the message of Christ as one of charity and helping all. You must choose one path to walk in life; you cannot walk the path of a Libertarian in politics and a Christian in religion. Religion is life; if we embrace God we must do so in all aspects of our life. This is what a conservative Christian is, a conservative Christian could not, and never would support politics that promote laws and morality contrary to that of God. Since you do not embrace God in all aspects of your life and support and publicly endorse such an anti-God and amoral political party such I must oppose your membership here.

[1] I am tired of "C"F's vision-less nose counting and plan to limit my posting here at least until Erwin actually makes up his mind what this place is.
[2] I like the folks here but I'm not sure I fit here. I think this will become a debate forum rather than a fellowship forum. If folks want that, fine. I am just less inclined to get involved. I'll probably hang more in Semper Reformada if I post much.

Well, CCC, like other places is at a crossroad awaiting some direction. I think the majority want it to remain more fellowship than discussion, but we want a place to discuss things as well. Best of both worlds, I suppose. It is going to take time and patience. Anyway, stay on as a member. You do not have to post here often to be a member.
Besides, you have a very WIKID sense of humor that I appreciate even if sometimes I want to take you out to the woodshed and give you the whooping your Momma forgot about. :D

I'm kinda concerned about that too. One of my first posts here was met by sem-confrontation with a fellow CC member, and I'm starting to see non-CC's members probe this forum for purposes of mischeif and debate.

Hi All.... just checking in. I have been reading some of the posts in here and am hoping that this will be a safe and friendly group. I myself am not into debating - and had mainly joined CF to fellowship amongst my fellow Christians. With that being said... I look forward to talking to everyone :)

I agree with you Hisgrace. i am not into debating either. not an arguing type. I uderstand the concerns some may be having and I feel we should keep this site in our prayers. Since I have been here I have found the places and the people I know to be great.
Havent read anything other than hisgrace's comment though. was just bookmarking this thread. Praying everyone has a wonderful week. Be blessed

You and I spend a lot of time in the non-confrontational areas of CF, Whitebeaches, which is fine by me. However, I would really like to feel like I "belong" to a group that is bible-based and geared toward the love of our Lord and Savior - After all, God is LOVE.

Ok...I've updated the list in the opening post.
Dr. Steve...I took you off as requested. And I also took Criada and Green Munchkin off as they requested...as much as it saddens me to do so. :(
I'd really rather not have to keep track of this and suggest that if you don't want to be a member anymore...please wait until we are through with open membership to do so. You know folks, we are still trying to work all this through. The wiki isn't finished and we haven't yet come to a consensus on a few issues. So don't jump ship before we get to the island ok? ;)

Dr Steve had his own perspective, but I will probably leave also if the rules are not adhered to (or be very selective and less involved, which is most likely what the others will do). I also think it is inevitable that others will leave. You have to have orderliness, and for sure on a Conservative forum.
When I read this-- Hi,
The rules about sponsorship and 50 posts are not yet final if I understand it correctly. As far as I know, membership is still open as long as you agree with the Conservative Statement of Beliefs.
--after we've taken two final votes and closed membership only then to let people still stream in as though the rules don't exist and the votes didn't mean a thing, well...
I want a place where the membership is what it is said to be and stands for what the forum says it is all about. Dr Steve, as I said, had a somewhat different POV, but I believe it is still related to this matter in that the never-settled and ungoverned nature of the forum makes everything else we could be doing be "on hold."

Thanks for adding me to the meber list. I remember after my pastor died and a new pastor was chosen some left the church because they did not agree with the new pastor's teachings. But the ones who stayed made the church strong and that pator left and a more appropriate pastor took his place. Prayer is the key here, dont you think so to?

Well, Albion, I am sorry that you or anyone had a problem with my confusion on the issue. Honestly, while two polls had been run, there was not a final decision on this from my perspective. It did not seem fair to me with no official announcement for someone to not be able to come in as everyone before had. There still has not been an official announcement. There is no understanding of what is enforceable, what is agreeable, how it will be handled. It is still being discussed. With that said, how does anyone know what to tell anyone else?

I agree with that Whitebeaches. I feel that God leads each and every one of us to where we need to be. While we are at that place, we should be prayerful and edifying to God. I am sure that eventually this forum will evolve to be strong and hopefully led by the spirit... One can only hope..... :)

Well, Albion, I am sorry that you or anyone had a problem with my confusion on the issue. Honestly, while two polls had been run, there was not a final decision on this from my perspective.
That's how they were announced.
It did not seem fair to me with no official announcement for someone to not be able to come in as everyone before had.
There was an official announcement in that a Mod posted the poll and called it final. If you meant that after it was done, no one said, "It is done" you may be technically correct, but that doesn't get it for me, because it was said officially that the poll would establish the result. That particular issue aside, we had and have rules which limit admission, the 5 person rule, for example, so I don't get how being a Mod gives permission to ignore the rules, whatever personal preferences any might hold.
There is no understanding of what is enforceable, what is agreeable, how it will be handled. It is still being discussed. With that said, how does anyone know what to tell anyone else?
Lisa
I know. And I told you. Inattention to orderliness, disregard for the rules, pretending that there are no rules, excusing rules violations, and the like WILL and HAS had a result. It is self-fulfilling, and saying that this is just the way things are doesn't change that. It can be argued all day long that no one has any idea of what is going on here and chaos is all we can expect, but if so, there should not also be any wonderment over the predicable and unavoidable consequences. Of course, there will be new people constantly flowing in, whether they abide by the rules or are eligible or not, and so the departure of some of the original members won't be fatal, but the question was asked about those asking to be removed from the list. Then too, what about those who were active at one time and left, for all intents and purposes, without doing the formality of asking for their names to be removed? Does anyone consider this attrition caused by the self-same problem? There's no animosity or anger in my saying this, I hope it is understood, but as we sow, we are gonna reap.

This is why "wiki-land" is a total failure. There is, and can never be any real structure when everything is discussed via poll and discussion, but no final decisions are ever made because there is no one to make the final decision or anyone to enforce it. This is a terrible time for a new forum to be set up. If it had been done well before 7/7/7 it would have had structure. Now it has none. In the end it will have to be a WWMC forum because the rules never seem to be agreed on. Everyone has a say, but no one has any authority.

I am thankful I was sent to Conservative Christians Forum before this all took place - or I would probably have jumped ship when I saw the changes today. It is really a sad thing that Erwin did... and it just makes me wonder. Anyway, if I decide that this is no longer the place for my granddaughter and I to be, I will definitely join up on one of the other sites. I also belong to another Christian Forums site: http://www.christianforumsite.com. They are very conservative on there and they use the same software as Erwin. Only thing is ... they don't have the fun things like contests or characters. I do enjoy posting on there however. You might want to check it out.

Have you really closed membership? Cuz I wanted to sign in.
Also...if you do not know anyone on the list, then, just stick around and fellowship with us. Let everyone know that you are here and want to join and I am sure that five of us will sponsor you very soon.

Based on the Current Rule, this thread is now re-opened. If you would like to become a member of CCC, please read our Statement of Beliefs, then, sign in here. Lady Trekki will add you to the Membership list.
It is also suggested that you create a Fellowship thread so that we can have fun getting to know you. This is optional, of course.

Cool. Have you read our Statement of Beliefs? Do you agree to all of it? If so, Lady Trekki should be along in a little while to add you to the list. I think we may not do that but once a week, but you have full membership rights in the meantime.

Lady Trekki will be along soon to add you to the membership list. She may want to wait until there are a few others, but regardless you have full rights to vote, etc.

Thank you. Some kind folks blessed me anonymously and I was able to create a character. That was fun.
