My patience here is lowering these days.
Protestants say that the Eucharist is unbiblical and false.
In doing so, a rant was inspired.http://www.christianforums.com/ (http://www.christianforums.com/t5674068-who-are-all-eligible.html&page=5)
I'm taking a break from CF for a while. If I'm back later today, than cool. If not, oh well. I need a vacation.
I try. I really really do.
When will they realize that we are not Romans? When will they realize that we have different reasons for doing things?
When!?
Father forgive me.:crosseo:

I understand your frustration with that one. That's the first time I've known people to say that. It seems like it's just a reaction against Catholicism (Orthodoxy isn't even on most of their radars...).
Just go take a break, go out, and be a teenager EC. Pray for us. I'll be praying for you!

It took me almost 30 years to discover that fact. :)

This Orthodox Christian needs help.
From anyone. The thread is getting a little nasty.

I answered, but I'm not that great at debating, EC. You're not alone. :)

Its easy to get frustrated with Protestants. Most of them are against anything that is Catholic or Orthodox. Some even said that we don't mean our prayers because we have prayer books. I mean come on.

It is very warm over there.
Very heated topics forming.
Anyone is welcome to come.

So true...
Yet they think of prayers off the top of their heads! We have prayers that Saints like John Chrysostom prayed!

HEY !
don't despair EConstantine -- it can be really frustrating
As Bishop Kallistos says, "Let loose of it..." :)
I tried adding my own 2cents -- but there is no way to "win" these arguments
You make some pretty remarkable contributions on these boards ...

I do?
Whoa.
For the most part it has settled. I think I won't post there for a while.
It seems like one of them I usually run into problems. Hence why some days ago I was pondering if people are on something when they post here!

Don't let these posters get to you. Some people insulting our Church on a forum is their problem, not yours. Just do what I generally do and just stick to TAW for the few of us still left I guess.

I hear ya.
Somehow the state of TAW reminds me of the state of Orthodoxy in Turkey: small community, yet a loud voice!

You know they will never switch to Orthodoxy until they get fed up with the messy doctrines of protestantism. If any read the Bible with an open heart, the truth does speak, and the Holy Spirit guides the way. If they have closed eyes and minds to the truth, then they will never see it. We can pray that they do open their eyes and understand some day.

I suggest you hang only in here for a while.
Sometimes it's useless to debate.

why talk about this with them?
I will not reveal Your mystery to Your adversaries. Nor will I give You a kiss as did Judas. But as the thief I confess to You: Lord, remember me in Your kingdom.

The priest says this confession about the Holy Eucharist at the end of the Coptic liturgy
Amen. Amen. Amen. I believe, I believe, I believe and confess to the last breath, that this is the life-giving body that your only-begotten Son, our Lord, God and Saviour Jesus Christ took from our lady, the lady of us all, the holy Theotokos Saint Mary. He made it one with his divinity without mingling, without confusion and without alteration. He witnessed the good confession before Pontius Pilate. He gave it up for us upon the holy wood of the cross, of his own will, for us all. Truly I believe that his divinity parted not from his humanity for a single moment nor a twinkling of an eye. Given for us for salvation, remission of sins and eternal life to those who partake of him. I believe, I believe, I believe that this is so in truth. Amen.

Wow, Coptic.
Do you know which saint composed that.
Was it St. Athanasius?

Well, I just try to explain that we are not Roman Catholics and to quit equating us with Rome.
Sure, we (Rome and Orthodoxy) may both have something like confession, but we have different theological reasons for it; thus we are far from similar.
eoe, thank you for reminding me of the prayer. I'll have to keep it in mind when posting in the future.

It is very ancient confession common in all the Alexandrian Coptic liturgies

He made it one with his divinity without mingling, without confusion and without alteration.
That reminds me of Emperor Justinian's hymn inserted after the 2nd Antiphon of the Byzantine liturgy: "Only Begotten Son and Immortal Word of God, who for our salvation didst will to be incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virign Mary, who without change didst become man and wast crucified, who are one of the Holy Trinity, glorified with the Father and the Holy Spirit, O Christ our God, Save us!" (I'm doing that off the top of my head, so forgive me if I got a tad wrong).
The line "without mingling" caught me off guard. Is this a common phrase in Coptic theology?

Yes, it is common
you can listen to it in St. Cyril liturgy (http://tasbeha.org/mp3/Divine_Liturgies/St._Mark_Washington_DC,_Liturgy_of_St._Cyril.html)
it is part number 13 , the confession

EmperorConstantine, thank you for posting and giving that link, which I read. I mostly lurk now since the changes here at CF. Just saying, you do make a difference. I am trying to learn our differences but have always felt comfy with Eastern Orthodox. Maybe when I learn what the differences are, I might get all excited huh? :D ;)
I just want you to know that what you post is read and appreciated by me. And who knows how many other lurkers out here in lurkers land. So for any others, remember your unseen audience. We read...
God bless you.
-Peace-
