Good afternoon everyone!

Good morning everyone!!!:hug::hug::hug:

Magdiel, sorry to hear you didn't catch any fish but there is always next time!! Better lure, maybe?^_^^_^

Free2be, would love to go vacation in Canada. Actually I would love to go vacation anywhere right now.^_^^_^ My brother in law lived in Alberta for a few years and we went to see them. What a beautiful country. Loved the mountains!!!!!:thumbsup:Hi Henry!

Canada's great to visit...we have a bit of everything here. The problem is, you have to cover a lot of ground to see it all! ^_^
free2be, mags, everyone! I had not checked in here in a couple of days and I find you all talking about getting houses ready to sell, etc.

Well, I'd been working since May to get my house ready to sell. It's a duplex condo at the NJ shore. Prices have fallen 25% since 2 years ago but I bought 20 years ago. Yesterday I was looking at my huge list of things to do and my brother, his wife and another couple who're friends of theirs came over and said that they wanted to buy my house at my price. I DON'T HAVE TO GET A REALTOR! The price is a bit on the low side but I'll clear more in the end. I can stop my projects as my brother is a contractor. I can leave here and go back home to Florida the middle of next week! I'm so homesick for my church, etc.

Yippee! Doing a happy dance. Danced all yesterday afternoon! Happy happy happy!

Thank you Abba Father for the many blessings you have bestowed on your servant. May I be accounted worthy of them. I praise your name and lift up your son! I love you Lord! Amen and amen! That is really awesome!! God is sooo good eh?

free2be, I just came back from a week with my best girlfriend of 56 years. She lives just north of Richmond Hill, Ontario. :thumbsup:Cool!! That's just out of Toronto I think...only a few hours from me. :) Is your friend originally from around where you live?

Hey GT! Enjoy your holiday!!

Dorothy and I went to kindergarten together in Delaware where we grew up. She was born there of one Canadian and one naturalized American parent. She's be in Canada since her college days at Mt. Allison and I believe that she just got her official Canadian citizenship. Not being disloyal to the USA but travelling on a Canadian passport is much more re-assuring these days! And she travels alot!

Hi sweetie!

Yeah...sometimes it can get you down. I been reading a lot more than posting and I am learning to just 'get out' of a thread when I see something that knots me up inside. As some of the discussions do. In fact, I'm not even going to step into the debate subforum.

I don't have anyone on ignore. I came pretty close when CC started up...well...you know, but I never actually did it. I can see how it could be useful, though. Especially if you want to participate in certain areas, but don't want to have to read certain posts.

6th August 2007, 11:21 PM
I have once used my ignore in the past. As much as Jesus wants us to respond, He wouldn't want us to continue being abused.

Hentenza
6th August 2007, 11:36 PM
GM,
Even Jesus will ignore some that will call "Lord, Lord" and Jesus will say "I don't know you".
I have read enough of your posts to know that you are a very fair and non-judgmental person. Like Tony Soprano says donworryboutit.:D

Love ya, sis.:hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug:

Ignore button may be the way to go :(I think that yes, I would...if someone was harrassing me or I wanted to participate somewhere I knew a certain poster was going to be but didn't want to have to deal with their posts. I understand how the meanness can get to you. That is why I stay out of certain areas. Maybe it's sticking my head in the sand, but so be it. And always remember...look to Christ, not to other Christians. If you focus on Him I believe that He will give you what you need to deal with the meanness. A lot of the time Christianity is not the problem...Christians are. Sad as it is. :(

Well, that's sort of the thing... if we put people on ignore, have we failed to respond in the way Jesus has commanded us to?Yes and no. We are commanded to love, right? But it is so hard to love those who appear unlovable, which is why we need to rely on Him to love through us. Yet some people make themselves appear that way by being contentious and judgemental and mean. There are many verses that talk about having nothing to do with those who cause trouble. Maybe that is where the ignore button comes into play?

You just made my day, GreenMunchkin!

As for the ignore button - the problem is when you press it and can't see what they've written, it makes you want to peek and when you peek you get steamed even more - at the poster and at yourself for not resisting the temptation. kwim? So, just walk away from the keyboard for a bit.

Honestly, if it weren't for this area, conservative Christians, I'd be gone pretty much. I love you guys!

The ER nurse asked for my height and weight, and I blurted out, "Five-foot-eight, 125 pounds."

While the nurse pondered over this information, my mother leaned over to me.

My Florida driver's license uses a pic taken of me in 1996 when I was brunette, tanned and reasonable fit. Now, 11 years later my passport shows me to be a chunky gray-haired elderly lady. One photo is who I still think I am and the other is reality!

ROFLOL!

My Florida driver's license uses a pic taken of me in 1996 when I was brunette, tanned and reasonable fit. Now, 11 years later my passport shows me to be a chunky gray-haired elderly lady. One photo is who I still think I am and the other is reality!

I can so relate to that! I have weighed around 125-130 lbs. (between pregnancies) since after my first daughter was born almost 15 years ago. I used to be able to eat whatever I wanted and never really exercised like I did when I was in High School...

Now, due to illness/injury the last 3 years, and new medications I have gained around 50 pounds!!! Plus, I haven't dyed my hair in a few years, and my hair looks like Rogue's, but with bangs! LOL I really don't even recognize myself anymore!

My daughters are sweet and say I resemble Botticelli's Venus or those women in that painting "Rape of the Daughters"(?) can't remember the exact name or who it's by at this moment, but anyway... I can definitely relate to those with weight issues now -- probably God's way of giving me a little more compassion? [I keep telling Him I get it now, but still the scale won't budge!!! ^_^ ]

Well, anyway -- I hope everyone has a great day!

I suppose i am fortunate in that weight has never been an issue for me...
I am overweight, but really, have never thought much about what i look like - maybe i should be more aware, but there is far too much to be concerned about in the world to worry about how heavy I am or whether my hair is in place...

Lady, how is your mom doing???

She's doing well...thank you. The chiropractor said the swelling in her hernia went down, which took some of the pressure off her nerve. He could tell she's doing better because she's no longer doubled over in pain. She'll be in pain one way or another...even if she has the surgery she no doubt needs. But she'd rather not go under the knife again. I think she'll just go to the chiropractor to alleviate the pain once in awhile.

Hi Free! Your outfit is awesome. I am having a contest in September. I think you should enter with exactly the outfit that you have on today. You should enter the Street Fashion category. I will post links. We are collecting blessings in the month of August and we are already over 10K. This is going to be the largest contest that has ever been done on CF, I think. Six Categories with tons of blessings to be awarded to everyone who participates.

*Clothing Return* (http://www.crosswalkmail.com/mlqsknvn_ooxptiut.html)
While working in a clothing store, I noticed that people had no shame about returning items that obviously had been worn. One rainy morning I walked in and found a discolored blazer hanging on the rack with other returns.

"People return the most filthy, nasty things," I commented to my supervisor who was standing nearby.

Eyebrow raised, she said, "That's my jacket."

6 Months to Live
The middle-aged man was visibly shaken when his Doctor advised that he had only 6 month's to live because of the terminal disease that was detected during a recent physical check-up. The Doctor suggested that he should get his "house in order", make sure his will was current and ensure all final arrangements were in place for the funeral. He should then make plans to enjoy what might be left of his life, to the fullest. "What will you do for the last six months?" asked the Doctor. His patient thought for a few minutes then replied, "I think I'll go and live with my mother-in-law." Surprised by the answer, the doctor asked, "Of all people, why in the would you want to live with your mother-in-law?" "Because it'll be the longest six months of my life!"

It's funny but I did not put in A/C until about 7 years ago - existed on the sea breeze and a ceiling fan in every room. Ever since then the weather has been totally opressive in the summer. BUT this year has been glorious until the past couple of weeks when the humidity set in. High temps but I've had the windows open for the sea breeze and no humidity. How come we're having July in August? :D

I had it for 13 months. Horrid! Yes I empathize with your mom very very much, I prayed and prayed for it to be healed, but it ran it's course. I like to think that at time's God allows things to play out for us to not only grow from it but to be able to support/pray/sympathize for others that will go through similar things as we do.
I have had some mighty healing touches and one might say miracles to me and ppl I know in terms of healings, but I think that sometimes it is for our better good and/or good for others that things play out naturally.
But God sure gave me the strength to endure all that pain, I did complain and cry alot, but God saw me through it.

Wildwood's about 4 miles away from me. But it's nothing now like you might remember it. It's full of McMansion townhouses and condos for those who can't afford the Hamptons. :( All the people who could afford to rent there for peanuts year-round are having to move out of the county. It's really changing and not in a good way.

Oh I believe that!!!
4 miles from Wildwood, gosh i can't even imagine the prices, well I can but...:(
People flock to the shore, all of the NJ shore, but Wildwood was one of the more nicer/upscale places. this is remember from the 70's . It was still quiet though. I can picture it still.
I know where I came from and my hubby (Franklin Lakes) things have changed drastically.
I shudder to think of the property taxes now! :(
As you know ppl have lived there for decades and so many are on fixed incomes.
So many ppl that work in the City (NY) now live and vacation all over. I don't blame them, they can do what they like, but with ppl making such money, it hurts the rest of us.

That is one of the reasons I moved to the Poconos, house prices. Yes I love it here, it is quiet and has lots of woods. But I never would of afforded a house where I came from. I rented for almost twice as much (in the late 80s) as my house payment is. :sigh:

Oh, you're in the Poconos? Wow!

As a child we used to vacation for a week at Twin Lakes just outside of Milford. The cabin had no drywall - just studs and open wiring and pipes, LOL. Today it would not be allowed. And chipmunks that came down the chimney to eat grapes left on the table. And a dock and a rowboat and canoe and a crystal clear lake to see the minnows eating your toes! How I loved it.

As an adult my husband and I used to stay in Milford at Myer's Motel (sweet cabins with Laura Ashley wallpaper and sheets) and one day we explored the roads around the lake and the cabin from my youth was STILL THERE! What a precious day that was!

Milford would be more rural than me. That all sounds great though.
I am in White Haven. In the western Poconos. Not in town (a townie) but on the far outskirts. I have a regular house :D but in the woods.
But one think for sure, when the kids are grown and gone, I may keep this house but get a little place somewhere else. Maybe Maine by the shore, who knows.

But I so believe that place is still there. LOL. Lots of things have changed in the Poconos, but alot of places are still as they were.

Deer are wild animals. But they are much tamer than big dogs!!! I have been bit and others I know :(

But anyways I live in a no hunt zone, deers stay here. I did have a buck once stike the grown like a bull with his hoof and even take a few steps towards by hubby, but that is when I first moved here and took over their trails.

I heard a strange noice recently, a big loud noice, and it was the mama deer nursing her 2 fawns. So cute, and only about 10-15 feet from me in the front yard.

They are so cute

In the summer I see them most everyday, if not everyday every other day. In the winter I see them , but not often cause they bed down so often in the cold weather.

It is nice here. I live in a community, not a fancy one, some are here. I am glad I do not, it is pretty rural here, lots of space. Lots of deer, I toss them carrots, not many bears, some, but they sure scare me. :sigh:Wouldn't that be so cool! To meet in real life!!

It sounds like you live in a beautiful area. It's like that here, minus the bears. I'm originally from Thunder Bay, which is where I'm going on my holidays...there are so many bears there!! :swoon:

Be careful with the deer there still wild animals and therefore dangerous.
They're such beautiful animals though. Around here, the most dangerous part of them is them crossing roads...so many car accidents.

I, my hubby, nor my daughter have hit a deer.
I have lived here almost 20 years, most everyone does.
I worked with one kid that hit 3 deer in 6 months. Everybody hits them but not like he did. :sigh:

He was 17 then. He was good the first 2. the last one he had glass in his eyes. :(
He was driving fast but it is a rural road and the limit is 55, so not fast for him just the speed limit.
No lights, no crossroads, no nothing. Not much one can do but watch the light in a deer's eyes. I hate driving at night!!!

Yup - we've been doing the washing by hand thing!

A few years ago we went camping. My son, who was about 6, wandered into the tent after our first meal carrying his plate - then emerged a couple of minutes later saying "I can't find the dishwasher.'

*Roof Chicken* (http://www.crosswalkmail.com/rlaznwzw_ehtmebae.html)
One day a State Trooper was pulling off an expressway near Chicago. When he turned onto the street at the end of the ramp, he noticed someone at a chicken place getting into his car. The driver placed the bucket of chicken on top of his car, got in and drove off with the bucket still on top of his car.

So the trooper decided to pull him over and perform a community service by giving the driver his chicken. So he pulled him over, walked up to the car, pulled the bucket off the roof and offered it to the driver.

The driver looked at the trooper and said, "No thanks, I just bought some."

You know everyone, this forum, this kind of forum, is new to us.
We are all learning what should and shouldn't be said/done here and what kind of forum it should be.
And that is by trial and error, with bumps along the way.

So things were/are bound to come up and we need to work through them.

But you know what!!! Look at what has happened, feelings hurt but all parties got together expressed the hurt but even more important worked things out. And also had support from others members here.

That is a very good thing
Big hugs to everyone!!!

Hi guys I forgot to tell you I have a very strong chance at getting this accounting temp job that's supposed to run a year the thing it's an hour and half away so I'm going to be staying down there in the week. Which means I won't have much internet access so if I'm not around much or it seems I just took off without saying anything that's what's up.

That's great!!!!!! Lisa is right. Small opportunities can turn to great ones. Best of luck!!!!!

Oh! I hope it works out for you. I'll miss not seeing you around everyday, but I'll be so happy for you having a job and maybe it will turn into something permanent or lead to something permanent. :)

Hey, everyone!

I'm actually going to unplug the computer shortly. I'm moving next Tuesday and I'm getting absolutely NOTHING done because I'm frolicking and cavorting with you guys. So... long story short... I'll be back online in a week, probably, maybe a week and a half. I want you all to play nice while I'm gone because I will be severely upset if there's no one around when I get back.

Love you all!

Barb
*gasp* Unplug the computer! :swoon:

Hmm...well, I guess what must be...must be. I hope the move goes smoothly and you get back online soon. :)

Good morning, Debi - and it is. I unplugged (temporarily) yesterday and got a ton of packing done. In addition, I'm getting the piles of boxes organized and it looks like it will all fit in the mini-van. I sold the place furnished so I'm only taking a couple of pieces. My problem comes from "do I pack this and take it with me" or "silly rabbit, it only costs $.99 so just toss it and go buy another at the Dollar Store". :D

So, I'm here for a bit this a.m.

Oh, and the weather broke yesterday - I had to turn the A/C off last night and even close the windows.

I'm glad you got some packing done and that the weather is cooler for you. I imagine that it was hard to concentrate on packing when it was so hot...even with A/C.

Wow Cf is all messed up for me this morning weirdYes...very weird. It was doing the same last night. But I figured out how to get around. Just make sure there is a 1 beside the www. :)

Amen, and since I'm selling it to my brother, you can't imagine the stuff I'm "sticking" him with. He has the task of tossing it then, not me. :D

This is what the Lord says, he who made the earth, the Lord who formed it and established it -- the Lord is his name: Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.

For my birthday I went out for lunch with the hubby and youngest daughter (other daughters are working)
Ate too much! :o
I went to the Old Country Buffet, some may know of it since there are quite of few of them, for those that don't, it is an all you can eat buffet.
Sitting outside on the deck with the laptop. Gotta cook on the grill now for the girls. But it is nice out and all shady.
