So, what do you all suggest for a Küng neophyte? Anyone want to do this together?

"A Short History of the Catholic Church" is the only Hans Kung book I own. I'm in if we read that one. ;) I own it -- and it's short (Living up to it's billing). :) Anything else, probably not interested. Too many other books to read and/or try to acquire.

Oh what a great idea...
Isn't he the one that Vatican withdrew his church authority to teach in 1979.

The same guy who tore up Pope John Paul II and currently is trying to lead many against Jesus' named church and Pope Benedict XVI

Great model for "The Liberal Catholic Church". Stands for everything it does.

Matthew 18:9
" If your eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and throw it from you It is better for you to enter life with one eye, than to have two eyes and be cast into the fiery hell.

Stivvy,

Again your tone is unsettling and proving a bit of a disturbance here. Perhaps you could take a break and come back tomorrow with a better attitude?

Tone??? No tone here, just the click of my keyboard.

I just pointed out facts on the subject. I ever sight my sources! Woohoo!

I would suggest "The Church," which does bear an imprimatur and a nihil obstat, but it is a bit dry. "The Council, Reform, and Reunion" which bears an imprimi potest is a much easier read, but, alas! is hard to find.

I would prefer something that has the imprimatur and nihil obstat for starters. Perhaps I shall pick up "The Church" and try it!

I'm actually working on "the Church" at the moment. Flying internationally and spending a day in a New Jersey airport gave me plenty of time to digest those godawful German-to-English sentences that are a paragraph long. I considered reading it in German, but.... at least this way, all the verbs aren't stacked up at the end of the page.

You can tell where the translator got tired and left some pretty bizarre sentence structures.

Yeah... Occasionally I come to the end of a paragraph and am just "[wash my mouth][wash my mouth][wash my mouth] was that all about?!"
