I think frankly that he is one of the greatest Christian writers of our time.

Absolutely!
I am ordering The Abolition of Man and Til We Have Faces, as I haven't read those and they've been highly recommended.
The Great Divorce is probably my favorite of his books. I know he was Anglican, but his thoughts are also quite Orthodox, and I think most Orthodox (at least here in the West) would like to claim him as our own. ;)

I have been requested to read him. :)
And saved a little tid bit of his work to read when I grab a chance. :)
Thanks for the reminder.

C.S. Lewis is canonized in some Anglican Churches, right? I remember seeing him on the calendar of some prayer book. He's a magnificent theologian.

I've seen PalidinValer refer to him as an Anglican Saint.

I know he is canonized in the Episcopal Church, I don't know if anyone else accepts him as a saint.

I honestly think Mere Christianity is one of the Greatest books ever written by man.

I agree, though I'm just starting to get into Chesterton now and I think that The Everlasting Man could possibly change my feelings.

I just finished Surprised by Joy a few weeks ago, and found it to be fantastic.

Not in the Church of England, though he is highly regarded.

I don't know if the episcopal church actually canonizes people officially. However, C.S. Lewis does have a day on the calendar..
and its fun to say "pray for us blessed Clive Staples Lewis" :)
Anyway, CS is very good. He is particularly brilliant in his logical insight into views/arguments etc.
The triumvirate of literature... Tolkien, Lewis, Chesterton

I love C.S. Lewis. I've only read two of his books (Mere Christianity and The Screwtape Letters), but I really liked what I read.

I was reading a bit about him the other day, and I was supprised to find out that he was born in Northern Ireland, and was raised in The (Anglican) Church of Ireland. I had just assumed that he was from England.

He is of English heritage, though. I don't remember why they were living in Northern Ireland.
