Hey guys,
I don't know if anybody else is as nutty a Potter fan as I am, but I've been planning for a long time to stay off the internet, keep the television off, not read the newspaper, etc., due to the forthcoming Harry Potter novel. (I won't even leave the house, save to go to church and to open the door for the UPS deliveryperson! :D ) This is not only to protect myself from spoilers, but also to give me a chance to catch up on my work enough so that I will have time to read it. ;)
Since I'm anticipating having to do this before the book's release due to the advance spoilers being leaked on the internet, I'm going to disappear sometime shortly, and not log in again until I'm done reading the book.
Not that most of you would pay much mind to this anyway, but due to the number of recent departures, I just didn't want anyone to notice my absence and think I was leaving permanently without saying goodbye. I'll be back. Also, I thought if anyone else planned on doing this, they might also use this thread to announce their plans as well.

HEHEHEHE
I'm not that bad :D but I will be getting it - but not till the end of August - so I can take it with me and read it while on holiday :)

I'm doing my best to avoid any spoilers, but I'll still come in here.
I'm hoping to get the book Saturday morning, which means I'll be finished with it by Sunday night. ^_^

.... O_o;;
I tried reading the first one. I just didn't like it, and I'm a big reader.
The special fx of the movies rock my socks, though. :P

Thank goodness, I finally finished! ^_^ I had some unexpected complications with getting the book (UPS can kiss my fanny, the one I ordered for Saturday STILL hasn't gotten here) but luckily I managed to get my hands on a copy before going insane from lack of TV and neenernet, and finished it this morning. :P I won't spoil the book for anyone else, I just want to say... it was worth it!

I bought a copy at B & N Saturday morning, settled down with it about 10:00 am, and finished about 3:00 am Sunday morning (yes I made it to Liturgy!).
Very good ending to the series, and the one burning question I had turned out the way I hoped it would. :)

SPOILERS AHOY! Don't highlight the below text unless you want to know how HP ends (Spoiler tags don't work for some reason...)
Good for you Mary! You're a much faster reader than I am.
Was your burning question about Snape's loyalties? I almost cried with joy at that part. I was so happy that he turned out to be a good guy after all. I really did cry twice, though... once, when Harry wrote Dobby's epitaph, and once, when Harry refers to Snape as the bravest man he'd ever met.
I was a little disappointed with Voldemort's last moments... I really wanted to know what his reaction to his own mortality would be like, or at least some great last words. Other than that, I thought it was brilliant. Well worth the wait.

Spoilers ahead!
Oh my gosh, Matrona! That's just eerie . . . . those are the very same places I cried at (no surprise that Dobby's death would bring tears, but the remark about Snape's bravery is probably not something that most readers would cry over.)
And yes, Snape's loyalty was the thing I cared about most. I so wanted him to be a good guy, and at the end of "Half Blood Prince" I was sure he was, but the further I got into this one, the more I was becoming convinced the other way. But then when he told Harry to "take it" and "look at me", I knew it was okay.
The chapter detailing his memories was very moving - his great love for Lily is what "saved" him.
Loved the epilogue, too. Next series: Albus Severus Potter. ;)
