I thouhgt it might be nice for people to introduce themselves to the forum, since we seem to be coming from a number of different forums and may not be familiar with each other.
I'm interested to get a basic idea of who everyone is, what kind of background they are from etc.
I have frequented the Anglican forum here (STR) and the spirit filled forum (SFPC).
I was raised non-denominational Evangelical Charismatic. About 2-3 years ago I became an Anglican, though I am still evangelical and charismatic.
I'm particularly interested in meshing the historic/traditional ideas and practices of the church with the current revival of evangelical and charismatic faith.
Another passion of mine is unity among conservative beleivers of all denominations. There are a lot of misunderstandings and prejudices we need to get past and remember that our unity in the essentials shouldn't be broken by our freedom in the rest. Even when those other guys use their freedom to have bad doctrine ;)

Was sort of waiting for someone else to jump in first, but... :D
Um, I only became a Christian a year and a half ago, after being a militant atheist who also dabbled quite heavily in the occult. Craziness. Have decided I was more of an anti-theist. Anyway! (I ramble. I should admit that from the start... :D)
I started as a *very* liberal Christian, and have become more and more conservative as I've become closer to Jesus. I have friends who have deconverted, and becoming hugely liberal was the final step before "losing" their faith entirely. Although, I know God will bring them back to Him :)
I mostly spent time in the Friendship forum, and posted in non-denom and in SFPC, also, and a bit in the WOF subforum. I used to spend a lot of time in Apologetics (GA) but it started to hurt quite a bit, so I stopped.
In terms of denomination... I just don't know. Charismatic is in there, and I hold to a lot of WOF's beliefs, but I also know it can very easily deviate from scriptures, so am wary.
Humm. Charismatic Evangelical Non-denominational conservative Christian with an interest in Aologetics... but not from a theological perspective, at your service :D

Hi!
I'm a charismatic, evangelical Christian.
In England I'd describe myself as a fundementalist - but having come across fundementalists on here, I have come to the conclusion that it means something different in the US! So I'll stick with conservative!
I have an anglican background - brought up on army camps, went to church a lot but never heard the gospel!
Got saved at 18, drifted around on the edges of the restoration movement for a long time...
Now am in a non-denominational charismatic church,.
Don't understand a lot of denominational stuff - I believe the Bible, and I love Jesus - that's about it!

Hi  My name is Sue ;) I mean Jim
I've been here I think about 3 years. I am WELS Lutheran, one of the most conservative church bodies there is. We believe in all the bible and accept it as written.
I'm an outdoors nut. I love being outside and working outside. My favorite hobbies are hunting and fishing, although I just don't have time for fishing anymore, maybe in next year, and my time spent hunting is getting less too. The thing I like about hunting is being outside in the fall. Upper Michigan is beautiful. Setting in the woods among a stand of oak trees that have turned red when the sun setting is just about the most beautiful thing eyes can behold. Watching birds and squirells and all the other wild life is also so peaceful.
Munchkin, if I can help you in anyway please let me know. I love the chance to help young Christians grow in their faith. To be sure the angels in heaven rejoiced when you came to faith :holy:

Hi, I'm PreachersWife2004, aka Beckie. I'm WELS, have been my entire life, and will be until the day I meet Jesus face to face!
I hold conservative theological and political views.
I was adopted.
I have three sons and have another on the way. We're hoping for daughter so we can shell out $$$ for at least one wedding, and so that Matt can have the infamous talk with the first boyfriend while the shotgun's laid across his lap.
I play the piano, the clarinet, the bass clarinet and the trumpet. I also play the flute but I don't necessarily like to own up to it. I play organ, too, but I'm self taught and I don't play magnificently. I only play well enough to substitute when our regular organist is gone and the sequencer isn't working.
I am currently a stay-at-home mom, which is Beckie-speak simply means I'm unemployed. :) This gives me much time for changing diapers and posting on internet boards.
Any questions? :D

Hello! I've been here almost 3 years. I became a believer about 4.5 years ago, but I finally accepted Christ and learned to trust him on May 20, 2007. From the ages of 16 - 22, I was agnostic and bordering seriously on atheism. I used to be very liberal. The closer I've gotten to Christ, the more conservative I've gotten (much like GreenMunchkin). I'm conservative religiously, socially, and politically. I attend an SBC church. I hope to be baptized very soon and become a full-fledged member of that church. I had never been around a group of believers so on fire for God before attending that church.

Hello all!
I'm Greenthumb. Most everyone calls me GT. :)
I've been a member here at CF for about 2 1/2 years, but I've never posted anywhere in congregational before. I never really knew where I fit. And it just all seemed too overwhelming...so I went for the fluff threads. ;) I spend most of my time in friendship court, rec room and deeper fellowship.
I attend a Mennonite Brethren Church, but did not grow up Mennonite, nor can I say I am Annabaptist. I grew up in a Plymouth Brethren Assembly, which I suppose has groomed me well for being a Conservative Christian. I have not attended a Brethern Assembly for over 20 years.
Hmm...I've lost my train of thought which I do often.
I accepted Christ when I was 7 years of age. But it wasn't until I was much older and away from home that I learned to apply Christianity to me personally and it became real to me and not just what my parents believed.
I'm still learning and it's a journey, but one I wouldn't trade for anything in this world. :)
I read a lot more than I post...most of my post count has come from game threads or fellowship threads. But not a lot of discussion. Maybe that will change with this new forum. We'll see.
Oh...and I'm addicted to smileys. :o :sorry:

Hello,
I post as zoziw on this forum and though I was quite active and a site supporter about two years ago, changes made while I was on staff caused me to resign and post much less frequently.
I am hopeful that these new rules (and this new forum) will get me back into the habit of posting here.
I have ended up splitting my time between a Christian and Missionary Alliance church and an Evangelical Missionary Church of Canada church.
I have attended the EMCC church for 14 years and seen it morph into a mega-church. I started showing up at a CMA church close by my house because I enjoy the smaller statement of faith and the small size of the church.
We haven't been too fond of the new pastor at the CMA church and are kind of questioning if we will continue going there, attend the other church full time or just find something new in the fall.
I was raised in the United Church of Canada which is a very liberal denomination and had stops at the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Canada; Lutheran Church - Canada (LCMS) and a Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada church before landing in mainstream evangelicalism (at least as far a Canada goes).
My favourite theologians are all evangelical anglicans including Alister McGrath and NT Wright (of course, CS Lewis needs no mention).

I am a chinese christian from Singapore. About 20++ % of the people here are christians. So, yup, we are not the majority in my country. :)
I am from a pentecoastal church.
I am from a taoist family, and become the christian at age 18. I was a VERY liberal christian at first, believing that as long as you believe in Jesus, you can follow anything you want. (Well, I did not attend church, back then. Parents forbid it.)
As I grow to know Jesus more through a series of problems that come to my life, and get to meet REALLY serious christians on fire for Him, I become more conservative in my christian worldview, although, I also heavily believe in reaching out to the non-christian people.
I am considered charismatics, since I believe in and practised the gifts of tongues and believe in and worship in a church that is charismatic.
However, I always believe thaT LOVE and christlikeness unite the believers more than any gifts or talents, so I often fellowship with non-charismatic christians from different denominations in my school, who I can see, really love Jesus like the way I do. :)
For me now, I guess, how much a person loves Jesus, and how much he or she obeys and practises God's Word, The Bible, matters more to me than which church or denomination he or she is from. :)

Hello everyone.
My name is Tom, I'm Catholic. I'm here because I know for a fact I'm not welcome in the Liberal Forum ;). Politically, I'm an independent, as I haven't found a party which is truly willing to protect the innocent in what has increasing become a culture of death. I believe in the inerrancy of Scripture, I believe abortion is the greatest continual mass murder spree in the history of the world, and I believe God told a husband to cleave to his wife for a reason.

My name is Julio Perez. I came to Christ about 3 years ago. I was an athiest struggling being one since I couldn't not be consistant with my world view. I knew that being an athiest I would have to deal with the tough issues such as ethics and creation which I could no longer justify rationally with athiesm. Coming to Christ he opened my eyes to God's Law and redepemtion through HIS Love. I attend Calvary Chapel South Bay in California but I'm a strong Calvinist and I mostly attend my current church for fellowship purposes. I'm currently looking for a strong Reformed church in which I can learn apologetics, theology and fellowship with other conservatives like myself.

I am not into labels much but definately NOT liberal on most things.
I consider myself a compassionate conservative.
My Christian Beliefs:
God is sovereign. God is omnipotent. God is omnipresent.
The Trinity is God three in One: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Jesus was born of a virgin who conceived Him via the Holy Spirit.
Jesus came to die on the cross so that we may have eternal life.
After being crucified Jesus arose the third day. Praise God.
After 40 days Jesus ascended into Heaven to sit at the right hand of God.
Salvation is by God's grace alone, not works.
The Bible is the inspired word of God and should not be added to or taken away from.
Marriage is a union between one man and one woman and should not be split up.
I don't think I forgot anything.
I do not believe in abortion for myself but believe in individuals rights to decide for themselves but as a tax payer I do NOT want to pay for it.
Politically I vote for the person NOT the party.
I grew up in a strict Christian home and glad of it.
My parents are still happily married after over 45 years.
We went to different denoms growing up so I am flexbile there.
As an adult I too have attended different denoms at different times.
The churches I stayed the longest at include Nazarene (high school thru young adult) and then mostly different Baptist denoms.
I have also been comfortable at Mennonite, Christian and Missionary Alliance and Salvation Army.
These all have similar worship styles and governance.
I've been at CF over 3 years.
Original id was caitlincares but was stalked.
Eventually reregistered with this id.
Never married but currently in serious relationship.
Met my totally awesome Christian boyfriend here at CF nearly 2 years ago.
We will meet for the first time in 3 weeks. :swoon: :tutu:

I am enjoying very much reading the introductions here! I feel such a peace with this group, I'm very glad it was formed! An oasis!
I grew up in a Christian home. My parents were involved in the 70's Charismatic movement, so the whole "spirit-filled" thing is very normal to me. My dad became a United Methodist minister when I was in junior high, and we were always wayyyyy on the conservative (and Charismatic) end of the UMC.
When I was in college, I had a faith crisis, and at one point I didn't think I believed in God at all. Of course I was deluding myself. I tried coming back into it as a liberal, but my heart was not there, and it wasn't long before I came back to the way I was raised (and then turned more Charismatic than my mom and dad, ha! :P)
I belong to a Charismatic non-denominational church smack dab in the middle of the continental USA - Sedalia Missouri.
Before that I was in a Mennonite cell church that left the denomination to become part of the Radical Churches Network (I love that).
Before that I was at an AOG church near Waco, Texas.
Before that I was at a "bapticostal" church in Waco, Highland Baptist.
Before that it was the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit there in Waco.
So I've kinda been around different traditions, and I'm comfortable with all of them, as long as they don't go liberal on me.
By liberal, I'm mainly talking about a lax attitude toward sin. That's why the Mennonite church I was in left the denomination - believe it or not. Most people at the local level have no idea what's going on at the national/international level in their denominations, sadly.
Between this and the new Charismatic sub-forum, I am feeling much more warm and cozy at CF.

I've been just kind of skimming around here so far, peeking in forums & see who's there - you know, kind of like going thru the mall. It's a big mall! It appears that this is a forum that I would fit in, as I am a confessional Lutheran (ELS).
I work full time, my youngest just graduated from H.S. and will be going to college in the fall, my oldest just started college and has a beautiful little girl. I also have 2 step-daughters that stay with us from time to time, one is living with us full-time right now.
I like gardening, and participate in my local community theater. We are currently in the last week of rehearsal for Brigadoon - a musical. Tonight is dress rehearsal and tomorrow night is opening night. I'm getting scared! Hope all goes well! Look forward to meeting everyone in this forum.

I do not have the impression, neither do I have any hopes, that fundamentalists won't be accepted here. I think fundamentalists are part of the larger group known as 'conservative'. The only things I have written regarding fundamentalists have been to reassure people that this group is not limited to fundamentalists.

I am a Conservative Christian who believes in the Word of God. I am conservative politically as well, but I do not vote by party. I vote on the person that matches most closely with my beliefs.
At the same time, I do not believe in forcing my beliefs on anyone. I wait on God to open the door. I just have to be willing to walk through it. I don't know if that makes sense to anyone, but my church, while I agree with it in doctrine, it has a faction of members there that are the real in your face kind of witnesses. I just do not happen to agree with that.
I am a very active member here and I spend most of my time in Debate. However, I really need a congregational forum home as well. I was very excited to see this forum open up and even more enthusiastic when I read the Statement of Beliefs or whatever we are calling it.
Yes, I am For the changes here at CF. However, it has been brought to my attention that some members have been hurt by these changes. First, I would like to say that I have probably participated in a negative way myself, but I am going to stop effective NOW. There is one person in particular that I believe I probably crossed a line with and I will make that right.
I would far rather work to help heal those hurts and restore peace than to continue fighting with people. I want this congregation to be a place of refuge and peace. I would like to come here and rest when I am tired of debating rules and defending the Word of God.
So, please do not be concerned if you see me here in this congregation. I will not cause harm, but I sure hope this is not going to be just a place to vent about the changes either. I hope it can be a place in which we can truly lean on each other and fellowship with each other.

Hi, everyone. I was raised in a Christian family and personally accepted Jesus as my Savior at age 16. I consider myself a conservative (but not a fundamentalist) on most theological, moral, and political issues. My hubby is a pastor, and we have three kids. :)

In my experience, labels such as "conservative" and "liberal" are slippery things, so I hesitate to apply them too firmly to myself. I tend to be rejected by people on both ends of the spectrum. In terms of scriptural authority, God's call to holiness in all aspects of life, and other such issues, my theology is conservative/evangelical. However, many people who believe as I do on just about every other issue will label me a liberal (or worse) because I am a pastor and believe my call is supported by scripture. So I don't know if I belong here or not -- a couple of people have invited me to come be a part of this forum, but I've been burned in the past... I'm sure you'll understand that I don't want to constantly fight for my right to be a part of this group. I don't post in "my" congregational forum anymore because of all the flames I was getting. I tried the liberal forum, and while they were nice and welcoming, I really didn't have anything in common with them. So... I'm going to lurk around here and see if this is a place where I might fit. It would be nice to have a fellowship forum to call "home." It's pretty much up to you guys -- if you can accept me as a conservative Christian woman who is a pastor, then I'll stick around. If not, then this isn't the forum for me.

Hi everyone..I am glad I found this thread ..I recognize a lot of you and glad to meet the ones I have seen, but not met.
I I have been here at CF for a while..I visit different threads and post in several..I was raised in a Christian home where my parents were married for 49 years until my fathers death in 1996.
I was saved at the age of 9 and been an active church member since then.
Right now I sing in 2 gospel groups and am a Sweet Adeline and sing with a ladies barbershop chorus.
I have 2 children and 9 grandchildren of whom I very proud.
I work in a library and am thinking about retirement soon.
I have been married since 1967 to a wonderful man he is not a member of CF, but I talk to him about it and he knows I do like posting and visiting here.
I look forward to visiting this thread and talking with you all...God bless...

Hi I'm Dawn. I've recently left the United Methodist Church for a few reasons.
I'm a Momma of two adult daughters and Granny of one little cutie pie grandson. Just recently married a feller I met here. We are currently looking at different churches. Hard to find one that meets all our needs.
I believe most of my views are conservative with liberal tendencies ;)

If not, then this isn't the forum for me.Of course you are welcome here! :)

Not while it was on, but my guy has it on DVD and I watched the pilot with him a couple of weeks ago. Next time I visit, he'll have to share more episodes with me. :)

Macrina, I wanted to welcome you here as well. Although (as you already know!) you and I disagree on the issue of women as pastors, I have a great deal of respect for you, and do very much consider you to be a conservative. I hope that others will welcome you as well, and remain respectful. I have no doubt you will bring a wonderful element to this forum.

I'm one of the few that actaully did see it back when I aired network TV which is funny a surprising large number of people do like the show when they see it nobody wanted to watch it though when it aired.

I actually did want to watch it when it aired, but it was never on at a time when I could watch. Plus they moved it around, I'm told, which may have been another reason I had a hard time finding it.

Hi, everyone. Looks like I'm the only Orthodox Christian in here so far. I guess I've been on CF for about 3 years now, so I recognize a lot of you.
I grew up in a Christian home, was Southern Baptist until I was in my late 30s, also spent some time off and on in Bible churches, then ten years in the Anglican Catholic Church (think conservative Episcopal) then became an Orthodox Christian. I've always been conservative theologically and socially. I've pretty much given up on politics. :P I'm 100% pro-life. As an Orthodox Christian, I may have some different beliefs about our faith than many of you, but I think we can learn a lot about each other. I'm looking forward to posting in here!

If you're interested some time I'd personally be interested to hear a testimony of your journey to the Orthodox church.
What lead you from baptist to Episcopal, and then what brought you from Episcopal to Orthodox etc.

Angel4Truth here - my beliefs can be seen on my CF page and in my blog - I am very conservative and considered fundamentalist by most but dont really fit into the fundamentalist forum here at CF because I am not a KJV onlyist. However I do believe that scripture is inerrant. That only one man and one woman make a valid marriage before God and that the bible speaks against abortion.
My beliefs most closely resemble southern baptist theology however I do not like to limit the gifts of the spirit (but i am not charismatic either)and I also do not agree with some of the teachings on women in the church and i am not a calvanist - so I am basically a non denominational christian that really doesnt fit into one category except that I am conservative. I think the nicene creed defines a christian quite well.
Ive been a member for almost 4 years , have served on CF armory and CF staff and also been a frequent poster in the debate forums and support forums and relaxation forums because I have never found a congregation forum that truely fit me.

Hi folks!
I'm Izzy (and some of my RL friends call me that too). I'm a nerd and SF fan, just like a number of us here it seems. This does seem like a great bunch of people, and I'll be pleased to join you... as a regular guest I 'spose, since I can't honestly call myself a conservative, though I'm not a liberal either. I'll explain below.
I'm very orthodox on the basic Christian stuff, the Nicene and Apostle's Creeds, salvation by grace through faith, the literal truth of the Gospel miracles and the Pentecost gifts. I'm a huge C.S. Lewis fan. I go to a Pentecostal church (AOG), and I'm very happy there. So I'm that much of a conservative theologically, and I'm politically very conservative too, though in a libertarian way (note my LP icon, which is where my heart is, though I usually vote Republican for lack of other non-liberal realistic options).
OTOH, I'm a theistic evolutionist. I don't hold to biblical inerrancy, or to all the traditional conservative positions on morals or culture. I often post on WWMC (where I'm probably one of the most conservative regulars). So I'm that much of a liberal. While I like you guys a lot and we agree on much, I can't really say I'm one of you. I guess what I really am is a moderate. Because of that, I'll hang out here probably a fair bit but I won't presume to vote on your rules and stuff.

I was raised a United Methodist and in November of last year my wife and I were led by the Spirit to find what we feel is the truest expression of Christianity on Earth, the Orthodox Church.
I am conservative on every Christian debate or argument that I have encountered. Politically I would associate more with the old Populist US party than anything else. I am socially conservative and economically liberal.
I absolutely believe one must believe in the Nicene/Apostle's Creed in order to be considered a Christian. Otherwise we can have a slippery slope where any crackpot with a nutter idea about Jesus can believe they are Christians.
I do not believe in ecumenism or modernism. I truly believe the Truth is in the Church and that we can all know it. I am a Plato man not an Aristotle one. ;)
I usually only post in TAW although I can be spotted in a few others.

I was raised a liberal Presbyterian. I wasn't saved until 6 years ago in a charismatic Episcopalian church in Mass. which is separating from TEC (the old ECUSA) over the issue of homosexuality. Couldn't find a church when I returned home, so bounced around TEC, Methodist (great preacher/pastor but dead congregation), Church of God (good pastor/great congregation) and am now exploring Hebrew Roots. I became very conservative after reading the Bible. I also became conservative politically and socially.
I've been a member of CF for 4 years and seen it go from a strong Christian forum to the pits in direct proportion to the owner's declining interest!
This forum is the one good thing I can see coming out of all the uproar!

I was raised in a Southern Baptist church and saved at the age of 12. However, as I got into my teens, I started noticing that I was attracted to members of my own sex. After several years of trying to justify and rationalize, God got my attention and I repented from my sin. I am married with two lovely children and was just elected a deacon at the Southern Baptist church we attend. I am on an incredibly walk with the Lord and wish that I had not wasted so many years trying to fulfill desires of the flesh.
I post in several forums, but have spent a lot of time in the "Christian Ethics" forum trying to debate with men and women struggling with same sex attraction who are just as deceived as I once was about homosexuality. I am really looking forward to talking with some conservative Christians, however, who believe the Bible is the Word of God and are not trying to excuse pre-marital sex, homosexual behavior, smoking weed, and a host of other sins that are currently being debated in the "Ethics" forum.

Why am I not surprised to see you here brother! I have enjoyed standing in the gap with you in the "Ethics" forum.
However, I think it should be renamed the "Unethical Forum". There are a lot of people there that their main goal is to see how close they can come to the "line of sin" without going over. However, some of them have been getting so close to the line for so long, they have now deceived themselves regarding where the line actually is. In my viewpoint, as a child of God, I dont want to get anywhere near that line!

Well I'm surprised you weren't here before! I know we are often out there in the front lines trying to fight perversion of the scriptures and relativism which has corrupted to many of the mainline denominations and this website. Someone has to do it brother and we must know that God is with us and we have to pray for each liberal in there that is trying to pervert God's word for his own sin. We must realize that they do not know what do and love them no matter how much they claim we are "religious nuts."

Hello Everyone,
I just joined CF a couple of months ago. I have not made many posts in any areas other than the WD and Marriage Area. It feels nice to come in an area on CF, and think "I think we have the same way of thinking". I had no idea, before coming here that Christians "bend" Scripture to suite what "feels" good for them.
I came from a very dysfunctunal home. Although my childhood was not ideal, I always knew in my heart Jesus loved me,and I loved Him. I would spend hours just talking to Jesus.
During my teenage years, I rebelled and grew away from the Lord. I married my highschool sweetheart and had a son. I knew I needed to commit my life back to Jesus. A friend of mine was talking to me one evening, we were talking about the Bible. I had questions, and she told me, "You better get into your Word" and the Lord opened ears, so I could hear . So I did. And I became addicted to reading the Bible.
My son has a very deep Love for Jesus, and he, my husband, and I were all baptized last year. I live in the South and go to a Baptist Church. I really love my church home. I know God put my family at this church. And I thank Him for it.
I do not drive, so my husband, son and I go Everywhere together, I think this time that we are together has made us so close. I love to go to yard sales. I enjoy cooking. And I love to fellowship.
(see my post re: What is Conservative - for my views, on being a Conservative Christian) I wanted to post here a little about myself;)

Hi,
My name is Jim, I am from Ohio. I grew up in Massachusetts (near Plymouth) and lived in New York for 3 years.
School/Education Attended:
Boston School for the Deaf from 1963 to 1972
Graduated from Duxbury High School(MA)in 1978
Graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology(NTID)in 1981
Currently working for State of Ohio for the past 25 years
I like ot live my life "simple" and I am a "home person".
My lovely and beautiful wife's name is Carole. We have 5 kids.
Our son is in the Navy with a wonderful woman who is expecting. (I am going to be a grandpa soon) :)
We have a daughter who is attending OSU
We have another daughter who is working at ARC
We have two daughters still in High School
Some of my kids see me as a "boring" person. I admit, I am a boring guy. That's who I am
About my faith.....
When I was younger, I believed that God will always protect me but as I got older, wiser and learned what God have taught me. I like this quote by Paul Little "Faith recognizes the fact that God is in control of my life. Whether I believe it or not, it's a fact that God is in control of the world. If I don't believe it, I'm just robbing myself of the enjoyment of the fact." I attended Catholic school for 7 years. Other denominations I have visited over the years are several Baptist Churches, Grace Brethren (Anabaptist), Missionary & Alliance, Mennonite, Methodist, Pentacostal, Congregational and many others. I also got mixed up with "Word of Faith" for a short time. My life filled with trials including disabilities that taught me that the greatest good of the Christian life is not absence of pain, but Christ-likeness and to do His will. “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.” (Romans 8:28-29).
I have learned in my trials that God is more concerned with the character He is building in me, He comforted me in His arms through His power of Grace on the journey to His destiny for me as Paul explains: “Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.” (Romans 5:3-4). God's divine intervention (i.e. trials) goes BOTH WAYS. All circumstances can turn people to God. Scriptures reveals that no trial, no disease or illness, no accident or injury reaches us apart from God's permission. Christians can answer like Joseph to his brothers who sold him into slavery, “As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good.” There are some who seem to look on the gloomy side and never able to do respond in faith to life's problems, instead, they grumble about the trials that they forget God's powerful grace. There are two worlds, set over against each other, dominated by two wills, the will of man (me) and the will of God, respectively. Trials (of all kinds) are often a two-sided coin. One side trials may be viewed as coming from God to bring out the BEST in us (See: Gen. 22:1-2, 15-18; Hebrews 11:17). On the other side of the coin, Satan attempts to tempt us and trials to bring out the WORST in us (see: James 1:13-14).
My view of Conservative Christians believe what the Bible teaches in context which are the basics of what Christians believe and unite on. I thought it meant the belief in the Bible as the written standard for Truth and the belief that God IS truth, and everything that is good, right, and true comes from HIM. Beliefs are biblical and doctrinally orthodox. God's Word (the Bible) sometimes wounds us deeply and it is imperative because through the Bible, God speaks loudly. Do we accept the Bible as the Word of God, as the sole Authority in all matters of faith and practice, or do we not? It should be remembered that acceptance of the Bible as the sole authority for teaching comes not from rational arguments or human traditions. Its not the scriptures that are corrupted. Its a man's heart that is corrupted. Intelligence, reason, and choice. God reveals Himself primarily through the pages of Scripture; that is why I believe the Bible as my absolute authority. I do believe very much in being a responsible Christian, however that responsibility is defined for the Christian by the Bible but no humanism reasoning. We should all take a long hard look at what things we consider to be important from God's perspective rather than man's perspective. We must be careful not to disobey God's Word to any church reasoning.
Quotes regarding Conservative and Liberalism.
All theology of the liberal type involves at some point - and involves throughout - the claim that the real behaviour and purpose and teaching of Christ came rapidly to be misunderstood and misrepresented by His followers, and has been recovered or exhumed only by modern scholars. C.S. Lewis
I have been suspected of being what is called a Fundamentalist. That is because I never regard any narrative as unhistorical simply on the ground that it includes the miraculous. C.S. Lewis
No matter how far back we may press our researches into the roots of the gospel story, no matter how we classify the gospel material, we never arrive at a non-supernatural Jesus. F.F. Bruce
The mind which asks for a non-miraculous Christianity is a mind in process of relapsing from Christianity into mere "religion." C.S. Lewis
Liberals insisted that the ultimate authority in theology must be man, either in his reason, his will or his feelings. Unknown
It has been observed thus far that liberalism differs from Christianity with regard to the presuppositions of the gospel (the view of God and the view of man), with regard to the Book in which the gospel is contained, and with regard to the Person whose work the gospel sets forth. It is not surprising then that it differs from Christianity in its account of the gospel itself; it is not surprising that it presents an entirely different account of the way of salvation. Liberalism finds salvation (so far as it is willing to speak at all of 'salvation') in man; Christianity finds it in an act of God. J. Gresham Machen

Hey guys. A bit about me.
I was born and raised Roman Catholic as was my wife. We have two kids whom were baptized as infants in the RCC. I became very disenchanted with the RCC about 10 years ago to the point that I considered myself an atheist for many years. I lived a life all about me and how to please me for many years. To shorten the story up about 5 years ago my wife and I decided to devote our lives to Christ. We were both baptized about 2 years ago and have been attending a Calvary Chapel. I strongly believe that as my signature says if we claim to know Christ we should act and walk as Christ would have the best we can. I realize we sin but I do not make excuses for my sin.
Looking forward to posting here. God Bless.

Hi my name is Christina. I have been on CF for a year but took a break until returning *here* very recently.
I grew up in a dysfunctional Catholic family, never heard the Gospel.
Became a Christian 4 years ago and now attend a Baptist church.
I am conservative in theology and my only desire is to live a life pleasing to God. I'm thankful though for the love and grace our God lavishes on me when I mess up; because we all know that we can never be good enough.
I love you Jesus.

Hi, I'm Mike Woolsey and I've been on the more conservative wing of my beloved Evangelical Presbyterian Church for years, after moving off from the PCA and OPC.

I'm WannaWintess (or Wanna, or Witness, or WW, or however you want to shorten it)....
In general, I consider myself a conservative Christian.
Politically, I am registered as a non-partisan (there is no CF symbol that I know of representing this, so periodically I may equip my Character with the black Non-Partisan flag). Anymore I feel myself becoming more and more indifferent in this area. There isn't a politician out there that is 100% right about everything, no matter what their party is, but one thing I know for sure: they ALL need to be backed by our prayers.
Here is where I feel I'm conservative: I tend to be straightforward in Bible interpretation and, although I am nowhere near perfection, I believe in trying my very best to live a life pleasing to God. I do not consider myself rigid or "legalistic"; I merely go on what God's Word says, and apply as best I can to my own life, while allowing others to deal with their own convictions and individual walks with the Lord. After all, everyone does think differently, and it would be a pretty boring world if we all thought the same.
Anyway, I might be popping in from time to time.

Greetings in the name of the Lord! I am Sabrina. I was raised Moravian and after marrying a Baptist I learned what the love of God was all about. We have tried more churches then I can remember and still looking for a home.
I am a Registered Nurse and believe that this is not only my career but my calling. I have 80 pleasently confused Alzheimer's Patients every day. Every day is an adventure.
My husband of 25 yrs is the love of my life and I am madly in love even after all these years.
We have one son in college. He will be moving to Russia in 2 weeks. He will be there for 5 1/2 months. He is a Russian Language and Russian Literature major in his senior year. This will be the chance of a lifetime. Say a prayer for us all.
I am far from Politically Correct and have a tendancy to roll my eyes at Liberals and those middle of the road types. Yeah, it gets me trouble sometimes but that's something God and I are discussing.
It's obvious to me that I have spent too much time in the games and not enough time in the trenches. My focus is shifting very quickly.
Jesus is Lord!

Hi Everyone,After sadly seeing where CF was heading down the liberal/politically correct road since I joined,I'm hoping this will be just the first step, into truly deserving the title of Christian Forums.
I think my profile describes me in pretty good detail.
