View Full Version : Wiki Team Suggestions

I would like to suggest a team of three people that will edit and maintain the rules wiki for this forum. Since we have an excellent summary by SirTimothy, I would recommend that the team be selected from those who agree with his post.
This thread is for nominating another member to the team. When a member is nominated, another member should second the nomination. The member that is nominated should also post their agreement or disagreement to the nomination. If we have more than three people selected, we'll have to discuss voting rules. But for now, does anyone object to this idea (or any portion of the idea), or have any better suggestions?
Nominations:
SirTimothy - Seconded - Confirmed
robbymac - Seconded - Confirmed
jeolmstead - Seconded - Declined
JAS4Yeshua - Seconded - Declined
Tamara224 - Seconded - Confirmed

I like this idea.
I nominate:
SirTimothy
Robbymac
Jason, are you interested in being on the committee for this one too? (Correct me if I'm wrong, but you are on the wiki committee for the SF-P/C forum already, aren't you?)

I am working on the wiki team for SF/PC. I don't mind helping out on this as well (Pete is doing both SF/PC and WoF), but think it would be better left for others. If we don't have a third, then I don't mind stepping up to help.
I second the nominations.
I would like to suggest
jeolmstead
Tamara224
Again, each person will still have to confirm whether they want the job or not, and if we have more than three confirmed, we'll have to decide how we want to handle voting for them. :)

Thanks, Jason. In that case I'll also nominate you.
I'll serve on the team if people want me to.
And, I second the nomination for John (jeolmstead).

Updated the OP with the nominations. Just waiting to hear from the others. We might have to think about how we want to handle the voting for the team as well. Any suggestions?

I second Jason

Wasn't expecting it, but I'd be happy to confirm my willingness to participate.

The first post has the list updated. I bolded the names of those who were seconded and confirmed their willingness to participate.
As a note, if we do have more than three people that are seconded and confirmed, I will withdraw my name from the list, since I don't want to overload myself. ;)

Yes Robbymac

I am not sure I understand this process - if I were to choose three people, I would choose SirTimothy, Jason, and Jeolmstead. I know that includes no women, but it in no way lessens my stand on Galatians 3:28! :P

Basically, all you have to do is say who you'd like to see on the team, even if they aren't listed. If we have more than three confirmed people, we'll need to determine how to vote for the team, right now, we're just getting nominations. :)

I am honored by the domination, but I can’t devote the time that this deserves. (Unless I get fired, in which case I’ll have plenty of time )

That's cool, I'm sure there are plenty of people here who would be happy to dominate you anytime you want. :D
{Sorry John, I just had to pick on you for this one... It's bad form on my part, I know, after the nice things you said about me, but it's just too good to pass up. :) }

I didn't see a vote for you? Is there one or is this volunteer also so I understand very well?
I nominated him in my second post, he was seconded by KarenJoy.
We haven't voted on anyone yet. We're just nominating people to serve. If there are more than three nominated, seconded and confirmed, then we will vote.
Jason said he will withdraw if more than three people are nominated.
This can be volunteer. If you want to nominate someone, including yourself, then that's cool, please do.

After I reread the posts I did see it. Jason is doing a fine job. I just didn't see it is all. So I was pretty untactful. I think I may have went back and edited my post but I can't remember. I did find it and I see it was totally in tact. Forgive me if I seem a little guarded but I guess I viewing it as making sure that it is all there.
I think it is all wonderful. I don't have a way with words and I appreciate anyone who can do it has the time and the knack. :)

So would 4 wiki editors hurt? I only see 4 interested and so why not all four of ya's?

Since I'm also working on the SF/PC Wiki, and will probably be a moderator soon, handling this in addition would be a little too much for me to handle. Also, I think a team of three would be better because if anything comes up that the team has to decide upon, they can vote amongst themselves and not worry about a tie. Ultimately, though, the team will make sure that all the members (or at least the majority) are of accord when the rules are established.
Voting will only happen if we have more than three confirmed and seconded nominations. Right now, it appears we have three selected, and voting won't be necessary.
Looking at the nominations, we have three seconded and confirmed team members. SirTimothy, robbiemac, and Tamara224. I suggest we leave this open today and tomorrow, to see if we have any last minute nominations. If we don't, we can go forward with this team.

It was late...I was sleepy......In any event, This is exactly why I don't need to do it!

I doubt you will be a moderator because you have to be voted on first like the other forums are doing and I cannot see that happening.

I'd like to suggest that the wiki team's job is to take suggested policy and to work it into current policy, rather than to make decisions arbitrarily... and that all members should feel ENCOURAGED to post in the Wiki discussion, detailing things you like and don't like, making suggestions, etc, so that we're all a part of this as a community, and that the wiki team is just there to actually make the edits and make sure our rules operate as a cohesive whole.

Agreed. That is the way it is supposed to work. Not everyone will participate though, for one reason or another. That is why I think voting should still be done on drafts to finalize rule sets.

Do we need to vote now, or with only three names forward, and willing, should we just say if anyone has any objections, speak now or forever hold your peace, and we'll start working as a team?

I have no objections to the three members chosen to be on the team. :)
