I was reading John chapter 8 yesterday.While reading verse 6,it said"They were using this question as a trap,in order to have a basis for accusing him.But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger.
What did he write?
I have a study bile and it says we can only guess what Jesus wrote on the ground.

I don't know what He wrote. My bible is as well, vague on that detail. I would suspect it had something to do with what He was saying. But again, that's only speculation. Good question.

Your Study Bible is correct--nobody knows for sure and there are a whole bunch of theories.

My personal theory is that Our Lord was making a list of different sins and that the Scribes and Pharisees, seeing their own particular sins listed on the ground, walked away following our Lord's injunction that "he who is without sin, cast the first stone."

That's just one, explanation, however. Another theory states that Jesus wrote the names of the Pharisees who were themselves guilty of the sin of adultery.

Nobody knows.

I just heard a message on this recently that said the same as ephraim. In Greek, the word "wrote" used in verse 6 means to rend in pieces, to crack apart, to break; in verse 8, it means to describe. The pastor teaching said that Jesus was very likely writing the sins of the accusers, to crack or break apart their basis for accusing the woman by showing them their own sins.

Either way, I think He taught them by exposing their hypocrisy.

Yes, we can only guess. But it was enough to catch people intent on killing this person. I think the sins of people would catch me plenty. Apparently there was no one there who could say, "All these things I've kept since my youth."

But look at what it does say. They put the Judge in charge, and suddenly they were the accused. And they abandoned the courtroom pretty quickly!

It's probably a good thing that we don't have a listing of the things Jesus permitted. They're such temptations to thinking Jesus will allow just anything. Jesus came to put sin away. He'll go to great lengths to do that. He won't budge from what's right when that's not possible.
