Should there be created the following denominational subforums within the Conservative Churches forum?
Anglican
Lutheran
NOTE: This in no way means no more can be created!

What are you talking about? We already have Lutheran sub forums.

A Lutheran subforum within the Conservative Churches forum :)

I don't think it's necessary. Lutherans already have their own forum, and conservative Lutherans already have their own subforum within it. I think having another would be confusing.

I don't think this is necessary from an Anglican perspective either. We're currently going through a process on STR whereby we would have both conservative and progressive sub-forums, if things go as planned. It doesn't make sense to duplicate sub-forums in two places and I think if you're a new Anglican coming to CF, you're first going to look at STR in most instances to see if you can find a conservative Anglican group.

I don't get why we have a "conservative" forum in the first place...isn't it the same as the fundamentalist forum?

No..not at all...I am a conservative evangelical Christian but I am not a fundamentalist - a fundamentalists would argue a literal account in Genesis, I would not... is one example of the difference..

I am a Fundamentalist.
I drink wine, dance and find the KJV-only position insane.
I belong to a confessional Church (PCA), and accept paedobaptism, though not with the certainty to state that credo-baptists are clearly wrong.
What exactly is y'all's idea of a Fundy based on? Hollywood???

I think it might be better to vote on Anglican and Lutheran subforums individually. Lutherans already have a conservative sub forum so, they're very likely to say, No, because they already have one somewhere else. Whereas in the Anglican forum the majority does not want the minority to be able to have sub forums.
Also I think we should determine what we mean by "conservative" before we vote, because many people who are not conservative could misdirect the vote.

Wouldn't it be more appropriate to have a Conservative Anglican subforum in the STR forum?

nope just 90% of those who self identify as fundies ;)
For the record I grew up pretty fundy, and would still be considered fairly fundy.. however, in general the fundamentalist community is far more 'specific' to one particular group of conservatives than all conservative christians.

IMO it would be better for each denominational forum to have a "conservative" subforum, if they so wish. This "conservative church" forum doesn't seem very necessary, and is a bit redundant.

What's all the talk about subing a subforum?
WWMC is a liberal forum for all sorts of denoms.
This place should follow that example~a gathering of conservative believers.
If ya want "Conservative [fill in your denom here] subforum" then it ought to stay in that denom's forum.
Well, there's my two cents...

Please, please, no more sub-fora... CF has expanded exponentially as it is.
We're beginning to run the risk of gving every single person here their own little subforum within a subforum within a subforum...
It's actually possible to get lost here nowadays :(
Plus, conservative Christians are being so marginalized now... I kind of don't want for us to further divide amongst ourselves.
Dunno. Safety in numbers, maybe. Dreadful way to have to think at what used to be a Christian forum, but sort of necessary as things stand.

Yah, it's all getting a little confusing... I guess, this place is simply for people who are neither fundamentalist nor liberal. Personally (can't speak for anyone else) am I almost think denomination is less of a factor that the liberal/conservative issue.
Is there something that's giving you pause for thought, lovely? Or is it just sort of general confusion?

Hmm I probably lean more towards fundamentalist...in the British sense anyway - seems to mean something totally different in the States...
What would you say is the difference?
Cos, I thought that believing the Bible to be the literal word of God was basically fundementalism, but it seems to mean more than that here. Or possibly less..
Did you know there is a 'charismatic conservative' subforum being talked of in SF/PC by the way?
Oh - and - you need to get some sleep, you know! :D

:hug:Aye, fundamentalist means something different here than it does at home, I think. Although... come to think of it, this thread speaks to an awful lot of cross-over
k... now am confused, too :sorry: Maybe it simply comes down to Fundamentalists believe every word of the Bible is literal, and Conservatives believe the 6 days represent longer periods of time? For example...
But "fundie" definitely has an awful lot of negative connotations.
Say, you wanna go watch clouds and eat candy-floss instead? :D

I think that to start out with we should concentrate on making this a place where all who consider themselves conservative can come to fellowship together. I think to start making subforums defeats the purpose of this forum. Isn't this here to unite all conservative Christians and give a 'safe' place outside of the other forums?

I'm not opposed to the idea of subforums once the forum gets going, if there are enough people that want them.
Personally I'm looking forward to talking with conservatives from all different denominations and having lots of back and forth with everyone :)

No, it is very, very different from the fundementalists. It would go something like this:
Liberal----------Conservative---------Fundementalist
Conservatives are firmly moderates rather than one extreme or the other.
