This Wiki is for the discussion of the Apostolic Churches forum rules.

The purpose of this forum is to create deeper fellowship and understanding among members of different Apostolic churches. Even when in disagreement, all posts should be made in this spirit.

Apostolic Churches are those churches that claim historic apostolic succession of Bishops. For the purpose of this forum, these churches are: The Catholic Church, The Eastern Orthodox Church, The Anglican Church (Canterbury Communion and "Continuing"), The Oriental Orthodox Church and The Utrecht Union of "Old" Catholic Churches (Including the PNCC and the ICCEC), The Assirian Church of the East, The FSSPX (Lefebvrians), The Lutheran State Churches of Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, and Lithuania, as well as the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada, and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in the United States.

Christians from other churches must refrain from debating in the Apostolic Churches forum, but may ask questions and post "fellowship" posts.

Rules for the forum to abide by;
Apostolic Subforum Rules

Welcome to the Apostolic Forums. A place to discuss issues and topics relating to the the Apostolic Churches. That is, all Christians and churches who are united under the succession of the Apostles through the historic Episcopate, and united under the root of Apostolic Succession of noted Bishops and Archbishops, including the Pope, the Historic Patriarchal sees and other similar bishoprics including but not limited to Canterbury, and Utretcht.

Non-Apostolic christians are welcome for fellowship, questions and inquiries. They may even participate in or propose debates, with the specific permission of a moderator, so all such debates can be clearly flagged to avoid confusion.
Debating the faith among Apostolic brothers and sisters is allowed and encouraged as long as it is done respectfully.
Members are free to disagree that another church has valid apostolic succession, but we ask that such discussions be taken elsewhere.Apostolic Churches members Roll Call
The Roll Call is designed to help keep a tally of members eligible to vote in mod elections. It has no other purpose.
Future additions: New Apostolic members wishing to vote in Moderator elections must be added to the Roll Call. They can do so by starting a thread indicating that they wish to be added. They then need three current members of the Roll Call to support them. If they receive this support, a Moderator will add their name to the list.
Non Apostolic Church members who actively participate in the Apostolic subforum, may apply for eligibility by requesting the sponsorship of three different Apostolic Group moderators.
If it is found that a member has more than one account on the Roll Call and more than one was used in any single election, all accounts shall be removed from the Roll Call.
To help facilitate checking the Roll Call against a Moderator Application, the Roll Call will be kept in alphabetical order.

A suggestion for the rules

1. All CF rules apply
2. For a church or body to be considered Apostolic by this congregational forum, it must:

It must proclaim an adherence to the authority of Holy Tradition
It must proclaim the necessity to have Apostolic Succession
It must proclaim a sacramental/mystical system of Grace
It must have an episcopal polity of church governance
It must have a traditional interpretation of the Nicene Creed (ie: Baptism for the forgiveness/remission of sins is seen literally, and is not up for contradictory reinterpretationThis would include the "Vatican" Catholic Church, the Eastern Orthodox Church, the Anglican Church, the Oriental Orthodox Church, the various Old Catholic churches, and many of the various Continuing Anglican churches. This list is in no particular order.

In addition, I would like to suggest a nickname for our Apostolic Churches board: This Is My Body/Blood (TIMB for short)

No posting to incite holy wars between any Churches/Communions.

Any posts that insult, belittle, or berate any Christian body should be removed.

A suggestion:

Debating the faith among Apostolic brothers and sisters is allowed and encouraged as long as it is done respectfully.

Addition: It is not respectful to accuse the other of heresy over differences in approach to theology as a charitable debate over such issues should not sink to such a level.

As I understood it, the Lutherans were not going to be included under those with claims to apostolic succession.

I would like to propose a suggestion that would go along with my earlier idea:

1. Individuals who are members of churches that do hold to all five of those qualifiers yet themselves do not adhere to all should be given a "limited" membership.
2. Individuals who are members of denominations that do not hold to all five of those qualifiers yet themselves do adhere to all should be allowed full membership.

Limited membership should include certain privileges that would normally not be allowed to non-members (Non-Apostolic Christians).

I am making this proposal very vague as I'd like others to fiddle around and/or critique it.

Not this crap again. I feel like this guy would show up at my house and stamp "limited member" on my forehead if he could. He's everywhere leading his little self-righteous one-man crusade.

This time he would not only exclude liberal Anglicans but also protestant-leaning Anglicans. Apparently the only people who are 100% alright with him are the people just like him and he goes as far in his exclusions as he thinks he can get away with on any given forum.

I like the wiki the way it is, with no further additions or corrections.

Peace.

I am making a roll call. I find the rules in other congreational areas to be fortifying and in keeping with keeping Apostolic Mods in here vs other groups such as Non Christians and what not.
