View Full Version : Rule Idea

I wanted to put this in a separate thread, because it might merit some extensive discussion, and could be considered a somewhat radical proposal:

"We also welcome as full members of this forum any Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, or Oriental Orthodox who for whatever reason might decide to join us here, recognizing that our common liturgical heritage, traditions, artwork and iconography, three-fold ministries, and claims to Apostolic Succession provide for a unique bond between those groups and the other churches compromising STR."

This would have the addition unstated benefit of allowing those people who, for whatever reason, might not feel at home in OBOB or TAW, meaning no prejudice to those forums (Some folks just haven't fit in there over the years).

What do you all think?

I love the idea of a forum for apostolic christians. However a separate forum for apostolic christians is already being discussed. I think in addition to an all-apostolic forum, there should be one just for Anglicans and Old Catholics.

No, I think its a bad idea.

It may be interesting to note that Roman Catholics and Eastern Orthodox could probably accept the Lambeth Quadrilateral, if that were a prerequisite to debate.

They may fit somehow into PV's bizarre scheme of various classifications of STR members.

They do, although I wish you wouldn't call it bizzare as I put in a lot of time and thought into it. It carries a slightly negative conotation. Perhaps you meant "unique"?

And they would fit in as high as Associate Members if they were regular members for at least a month and stayed as regulars.

Yes, yes. That's what I meant. I must use the spell check function more often.

Whilst they could post here they should not, and I repeat not, be full members!

I think a CF wide Apostolic forum would be great, but I disagree that STR should host it.

"I think that welcoming as full members of this forum any Protestant who for whatever reason might decide to join us here, recognizing that our common Reformation heritage, Bible-centeredness, and claims to Apostolic teaching provides just as logical a bond as between the groups mentioned in the above proposal, if not moreso."
;)

Put another way, no. I wouldn't care to have the scales intentionally tilted towards the Anglo-Catholic faction within Anglicanism. Thanks for asking.

I had made a request for an Apostolic Christianity congregational forum weeks ago. It would be its own board.

That would be wiser than destroying the Anglican/Old Catholic Identity of the board.

I'm happy to welcome anyone who loves the Lord. I'm not too bothered about their heritage, especially if heritage is used as some kind of badge of superiority over others.

You've not been a member long enough to remember when Everyone who was not Eastern Orthodox or Roman Catholic was shoved together into one forum.

I do not separate from my brothers. I fellowship with them in real life (my best friend and his girlfriend are pentecostal and disagree with me on a greag many theological points) and on this board, (I fellowship with them on other Boards). I don't appreciate the oft repeated cliche this week that we just want to shut everyone out.
