because Jesus was an "I" vs. "them"
Jesus is truth
His word speaks truth
I will stand for His word and His truth
Also, just b/c we disagree does not mean we don't love each other -

With God there is neither Jew nor Gentile.
But as difficult and hard as it may be, there are sheep and goats.
That said, I think most of the things we disagree on here are secondary matters.
It is a shame that we can't celebrate what we share more often.

Sometimes the way we go about disagreeing in STR is damaging rather than helpful, pushes people into defending their position rather than considering the merits of the other position, and generally hides the truth rather than reveals it.

sometimes the other position has no merit...just the way the cookie crumbles brother...some issues are up for discussion..some are not...the problem I suppose lies in where the lines fall....

I think we should all try to give this whole thing a bit more time; time for us to adjust, and time for Erwin to clarify.
Nothing can separate us if we do not want to be separate.

You are speaking with a wise and strong voice of reason. Does the wisdom and strength come from inside of you, or, as I believe, are you speaking as a prophet -- speaking out God's call to us?
Of course, bickering makes us ugly to the people we could be attracting to Christ. Of course discord makes us uncomfortable to be around, for the people who need our comfort. Of course, it interferes with our encouraging one another, from feeding the hungry and comforting the prisoners, and from telling the gospel to all nations.
So it's hard, I know, but try to close your eyes to the posts that seem to you to speak of enmities, strife, jealousy, anger, quarrels, dissensions, factions; and reread two or three times the posts that show love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Those latter sort of posts, too, are on this board -- indeed, we should try to make more of that latter sort.
Thank-you, my dear, for the good reminder.

I'm sure you still belong both here and in OBOB as before. You don't really engage in hard debate, anyway, so unless you're planning on changing in that aspect, it is a moot point. If you do decide to engage in some fierce debate, Haylea, you will then have to determine which denom you want to call yourself.

Hello Sonfest Rocker,
Although I am new to the forum I am probably the last person who you should listen too... that being said, i'll throw my towel in anyhow.
It may appear that Anglicans (or any other group) set ourselves 'apart' from others... but truely we are the same creatures. As you have rightly said "we are all Christians".
It is our differences which make us unique.
It is what we hold to be right and true, the traditions, the inclusiveness which bind us together as a community and communion of faith.
Our uniqueness is sometimes defining, we cannot help this as it is how others percieve us.
But it is also the beauty within that uniqueness which causes others to feel at home.... comfortable... and a part of our community - even if they are just visiting
The Body of the Church is made up of many parts , each Christian community is but one part and none are less valuable than the other.... we are all equal before God . Every member of that community is just as valuable and equal as the next.
It is where you feel most at home. I hope and pray that you will feel at home in the Anglican Church in your local parish.
Don't hesitate to visit other Anglican parishes, you will always be welcome.
I will keep you in my prayers.
May God bless and keep you in his care.

Hi there!
It's inevitable that we are going to be doing lots of sharing of our personal opinions over the coming days. It's important that we truthfully share these opinions because the results are something we will have to live with. It is not a good idea just to agree with the last person who spoke.
Stick around and we will buy you a proper drink in the Alehouse on your birthday :)
