Member of this site that feels betrayed and hurt, and grossly unappreciated.

I agreed to moderate a site, whose goal was to unite all Christians. NOT to unite all muslims, all atheists, all unitarians, all Hindus, all agnostics, all animalists all cultists, all occultists, all pagans, all personal deists, all deists, all sihks, all black muslims, all b'ahai, all heretics, all apostates.

I feel abandoned, I feel betrayed, and I feel angry.

I came to this site, years ago, before many and most of you, because I sought an escape from the world around me, where I could be a Christian first, discuss Christian things, with Christians.

I was part of a small group, including palidinvaler, jtbdad, Polycarp1, TomUk (then known as Tomua) and a couple others i may have forgotten, that argued for the congretional fora you now enjoy, as opposed to the freeforall mess called PRE. Erwin has made the entire site worse than PRE ever was.

I don't feel like defending myself against atheists, and antiChristian religions, in yet another arena. I do that in life. I do that in other places on the internet. I do that everywhere else.

I love atheists, I love non Christians many of them are my friends. But I do not wish to spend all my free time arguing with them, on a site dubiously named Christian forums.

Erwin, you have broken my paradise. You have broken my resting place.

I cannot moderate this forum any longer. I may or may not watch the wreckage as a regular member, i have not decided yet.

I am posting this on STR first, as I once considered this a second home on the internet. I consider many of you to be my friends. And i feel you deserve to hear it first.

God Bless you all.

That free-for-all might result, but there is one positive aspect to this. A non-Christian who is considering the faith might come here to learn.

Please, Cola, wait and see what the new rules which Erwin is implementing before you decide to leave staff and the site. All that we've got at the moment as an overview of what Erwin is planning. We've got no idea what these policies are going to look like in practice. I sincerely hope you stay.

Tom, I love you as a friend, but I don't think you get it.

He is destroying ALL stability. The forums are being opened to EVERYONE. You will soon, NOT be engaged in discussions of what the Christian is, but rather discussions of whether or not the Christian thing matters.

Atheists, and pagans will be mocking our faith, arguing with us about the validity, and historocity of our faith and telling us we are fools for believing it.

I love atheists, I love non Christians. Many of them are my dear friends, but I'm not going to get into yet another argument about how my faith is ridiculous. I do it in the real world as that is my calling as a Christian. But all workers, are allowed their break, their rest and their recreation.

I cannot get that here.

Erwin has said:

The idea would be that individual forums have membership that can form their own rules through a wiki/collaborative process. If the current congregational forum wants to ban debate, and if the members of that congregational forum vote to agree, then it is so. Why should a person from another section care? They can request and form their own forums for their own group. Moderation will be decentralised according to each forum/category - members that the forum members respect get voted to be their mods. Mods usually only have power to moderate their own forums. Reports go into forums that are subforums of these forums/categories. It's a massive restructure that I need to embark on.

The aim is to make this a true community where people have the power to ultimately moderate themselves.

e. No more restriction of forums for non-Christians - if a non-Christian can walk into a church, a non-Christian can walk and post in any forum here. Some forums may still have gender or age restrictions, but the whole side, as should be any Christian site, will now be totally [OPEN].

He will not allow us to shut out non Christians, even if we voted it that way.

This is one of the problems...we have two statements made by Erwin which seem to contradict one another

Hence I will stay at CF for now until I know for sure what will happen. Because it may be possible to have a conservative Anglican group in their own forum moderated by conservative anglicans which would be a dream come true. :)

I read a non-christian on the non-christian form say this morning that he was going to attend an Anglican Church tomorrow. A few minutes later he was on this forum reading.

Can this be a bad thing?

Not at all. The problem is when such a person is a militant atheist bent on causing trouble.

I have no problem with non Christians posting on open threads in Christian forums like they always have been allowed to. Its great. I think there should be more open threads.

But for every respectful, decent and kind non Christian on this forum, there are 10 acid spitting militants just ready to come in and tear up the joint.

I have been on the internet far too long to expect anything different.

I don't know what to do. I DON"T KNOW WHAT TO DO.

I don't want to quit as a mod. Its not an easy decision. I love the staff, I love the members, I love what this forum used to be.

ANd I am truly hurt here. I am truly upset. I don't know what possessed erwin to do this. Everyone seems to be all giddy about this free for all, anything goes, lacking structure mess we've stepped into.

There is nothing making this website Christian forums. I can't come to you as a brother or sister and discuss our faith without militant atheists coming in and mocking and ridiculing our faith.

Nothing is sacred. The rules are out the window.

This site used to be primarily about uniting CHRISTIANS as one body. Now it is about appeasing everyone, regardless of what this site was ever about.

I don't know what to do... . GOD I DON"T KNOW WHAT TO DO!!!!!!!

Why not wait a few days till we know what is going to happen? There is a lot of speculation but not much fact. I am fearful that conservatives will be hounded but that is a fear but we do not know if it will occur.

If we must compromise then we should leave...I am now not 100% sure that we will have to compromise!

I say wait

Although I'm gritting my teeth for the worst.... I'll give it more time. I'll still stick with my moderation duties......for now.

I'm still not approving of the changes.

I have all the same concerns that you do about the changes. I'm going to lurk for a while and see if the changes end up being as bad as I think they will be.
