UPDATE: I have been reading the debates and Erwin's additional statements and so I think I will stay for a little while longer until I know for definite what is going to happen. So far the statements have been very general and no-one seems to know what is actually going to happen.

I have decided to leave CF due to the rules below. I have enjoyed my time here with you. I pray that God will bless you all! :prayer:

e. No more restriction of forums for non-Christians - if a non-Christian can walk into a church, a non-Christian can walk and post in any forum here. Some forums may still have gender or age restrictions, but the whole side, as should be any Christian site, will now be totally [OPEN].

f. No more restriction of faith icons - who are we to tell you who you are or what you believe in? In fact, no other restrictions - if you want to call yourself married, go ahead. It is between you and God, not you and CF.

g. Related to the above, if you believe you are a Christian, you are. No more reliance on our own definition of what we think is a Christian. In the end, who are we to judge.
PS: I hope I will see you on Puritan Board (http://www.puritanboard.com/)!

No, you won't. I'm Old Catholic not Puritan. As for Erwin's changes. YAY!

Well, I'm sorry to see you go, AV.

At least we know where to go to find you, though!

AV, I am sorry to hear that. I am not too thrilled with some of the rule changes but we will see how it goes.

Sad to see you go man.

I'm not sure that these changes mean that much. No one is in position to say that the denominational faith icon you choose is the right one, anyway, and the same goes for any bit of personal background information. Then too, we have plenty of folks here who identify themselves as Christians and yet hold beliefs that are as foreign to Christianity as is possible.

So...I wish you'd stay long enough to see IF the changes mean anything in practice.

That's kind of what I was thinking.

Agreed but the difference now is such a thing is officially sanctioned and condoned.

A Unitarian is not a Christian but according to CF rules "if you believe you are a Christian, you are"

A homosexual union is not marriage, that is a union of one man and one woman, but according to CF rules "if you want to call yourself married, go ahead"

AV, we disagree on quite a few topics but i've got tremendous respect and i do hope that you don't leave this site permanently. I fully intend to stay but think i might also create an account over at ConservativeAnglicans. Take care.

I understand.

However, I still think that in practice we'll hardly notice.

Unless, that is, something about the changes invites an influx of obstructionists who, for some unknown reason, are at present intimidated by our easily circumvented rules.

I am going to stay until I know 100% what is going to happen. :)

My heart seriously goes out to the "old-timers" who are hurt by this change of events. If I had been part of CF as long as all of you, I could see myself in the same place.

As far non-christians coming in (even militant acid spitting non-christians)... well, this is just another form of evangelism, so what's the difference between witnessing here or in the real world?

It was nice to have "just us" christians... there were no worries about defending our faith. At the same time, that approach is a little "selfish" (Totally IMHO) as we are witholding our faith from others.

As for defending our faith, I for one, don't feel a need to. Just as Jesus felt no need to defend his divinity when questioned prior to crucifixion, people are either going to "get it" or they aren't. Sad but true. The son of God was spit on and mistreated, same will happen if we chose to follow him. The internet does offer more safety (ability to hide behind their keyboard) of someone "spitting" on us, then in real life-- yet with the gift of technology comes our responsibility to use it to help others.

Again, my heart goes out to the ones negatively impacted by this... we may not agree all the time, but I honestly do respect your insights and you as people.

This being said, CF will be a poorer place if you are not there to help out "newbies" like myself. You have a lot to offer non-christians in helping them to discern their faith.

I'm glad for that, and I hope I won't wind up having been unrealistically optimistic. What you forsaw for CF did happen on another forum I was previously involved with, so I'm far from saying you were wrong. We just want you to give it enough time to be sure.
