I finally got around to watching a Divine Liturgy (watching now) from Orthodox Christian Network. I know it is nothing like the real thing. But I am sooo lost. :P It's beautiful, though! ^_^

In Christ,

Do you have the Antiochian Orthodox Prayer Book?

It is the red paperback one. This has all the prayers of the Divine Liturgy, as it really helps to read these prayers in English especially if the Divine Liturgy is in Greek.

Also if you can get volume 2 of the "Rainbow Series"

THE ORTHODOX FAITH
Volume 2: Worship
Father Thomas Hopko
OCA Department of Religious Education

This is an excellent book with illustrations and a full explanation of the Divine Liturgy as celebrated by the OCA.

www.oca.org (http://www.oca.org) has this book online I think

I might could buy the Rainbow Series. I dunno if mum will let me get a prayer book. I went to the Antiochian website though, and printed off the prayers there (minus the ones with the priest and people parts; to save paper and ink). I put them in plastic paper cases and into a binder for a sort of makeshift prayer book. ;)

I'll have to try and get the Rainbow series. ^_^

The rainbow series is great. My wife, when cosidering converting (before she was my wife) found the book on the history of the Church a hundred times more helpful than the Orthodox Church (which, can get reeeeeally dry.. hard to keep the eyes open at parts). And that was only one book. I think Fr Thomas just has a great way of apeaking/writing so that the commoners like us can understand and he understands what we as laypeople should know without getting into too much detail. Hmm... maybe I'm wrong but perhaps that's the appeal.

Father Thomas Hopko is a great retreat master with lots of funny and excellent stories to tell. He keeps you on your toes. I don't think I ever saw anyone doze off when he was speaking.
