So we are going to the beach next week (YAY) where I will not have access to the internet. I'm looking for some good Christian books I can read...something about spirituality or inspiration, etc., but nothing too heavy. I'll be at the beach, after all. Any suggestions?

Subscribing to this because I'd like to know an answer to that also. :D

Personally, I tend to go for brain candy while on vacation. Anything by Jeanette Oke. Orson Scott Card's "Women of Israel" series and Stephen Lawhead's "Patrick, Son of Ireland" are good lightweight choices as well.

What do you guys think about Max Lucado? I thought I might check out "A Love worth giving."

I Like fiction reads. I have discoverd Dee Henderson she has strong females in her stories. But if I want to read good spooky books I really enjoy Frank Peretti. For spritual inspiration I enjoy the books by Joyce Myers. I like her no nonsense approach.

I belong to Crossings book club. They have a fantastic selection.

Have a blessed day!

Oh, I would like to add to the list a book that is technically a daily devotional, but I find myself reading it like a book! It's called "Renew My Heart" by John Wesley, compiled by Alice Russie - it's full of insights from the writings of John Wesley, and I love it!

The Okes are romance, the Cards are fiction based on the lives of Sarah, Rebekah, Rachel and Leah, (waiting for the second half of the last pair's story -- he hasn't gotten to all those kids yet!) a the Lawhead is historical fiction based on the life of St. Patrick.

Max Lucado is a good choice too.

I would recommend highly, if you can download it and have it printed somewhere (it's free and not too huge):

www.enterhisrest.org/entry_directions/his_rest_electronic.pdf (http://www.enterhisrest.org/entry_directions/his_rest_electronic.pdf)

It has changed a lot of lives.

TY everyone for your input. I'm heading to the library sometime today and hopefully will find a few things on this list.

BTW, for anyone else who is looking, a friend recently let me borrow his copy of Dinner With a Perfect Stranger. Good book, quick read. There's a sequel but I haven't read it yet.

I've also heard good reviews of that book, and the sequel is supposed to be fantastic!
