Devarim (Deut) 4:29
And if from there you will seek Hashem (YHVH/the Lord) your Elohim (God), you will find him, if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul.
If it takes seeking with all our heart and all our soul to find Him - then the opposite would also be true - if we do not seek Him with all we will not find Him. The principle we can glean is in order to find Him requires 100% from us. I am making the equation that all = 100%.
In driving a car we learn about a thing called a blind spot. We know that there are things that actually can be in a place that we don’t see them. People can have blind spots too. David talked about this principle:
Psalm 19:12
Who can discern his errors? Forgive (or clean) my hidden faults.
I get the idea here that the hidden things are like blind spots.
Jeremiah 17 is familiar to many. We have a comparison between the man that is cursed and the man that is blessed. As we assess ourselves we all would say we are the man that is blessed. Look at what Jeremiah says after he gives the comparison:
9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it?
10 I, Hashem (YHVH/the Lord), search the heart, I test the inwards, to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.
In verse 9 I think Jeremiah is pointing us toward the idea of our blind spots. In verse 10 Adonai is reminding us that He is the judge. He will tell us one day if we searched for Him less than "all".
Do we even wonder what 99% looks like? If we were concerned that we may be in the camp that is at 99% would this not cause us to Fear our Lord?
“Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.” (1 Cor 10:12)
“For not he who commends himself is approved, but whom the Lord commends.” (2 Cor 10:18)
“Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble…” (2 Pet 1:10)
What do you think less than "all" looks like?
