----------------------------------------------------------------------
Team: Outreach Team
Moderator Nominee: Godschosengirl
Reason: She's one of my work horses, and I don't mean just in working as a mod. She does exactly what the team name implies: Outreach. She answers anyone who needs help, and it doesn't matter with what. She's quick to defend those that are different, or those that are being marginalized one way or the other on this forum. She has a heart of gold. :)
Admin level nominee:
Team: Support
Staffer: Meh
Reason: Because she rocks!
Exec level nominee:
Team: Admin Support
Staffer: D'Ann
Reason: For all the hard work she's been putting in to help train the staff and all the wonderful ideas she's been working out on how to improve this area of staff. All staff members go through her area first... training is so very important, and it's time she was openly recognized for her inspiration to staff and CF.
This month the Admin and Exec nominees where anonymously nominated by peers.

I can not vote. I do not know a lot of the mods. Even if I knew them all, to vote could and possibly would hurt someone's feelings. Altho I don't know them all, I bet each one has some outstanding value and all of them work mighty hard to be fair, etc.
So kudo's to all the mods. Standing ovations. May God bless all of you and may your day be a pleasant one with few grips, coming from us, the peanut gallery, which you have to keep your eye on! :)

Nicole--- you get my vote. From the months I spent working with you at Friendship Team I know what an amazing moderator and now Supervisor you are. So you truly deserve to be recognized as Mod of the Month. :)
Not only has Nicole shown her dedication to the Team, the Staff, and all of CF, she's an amazing friend who is always there to chat with when ever I need someone. I see the Lord in her heart and she's a great inspiration in my walk with Christ!!
I hope you win Hun!! ^_^

I too recognize very few of these names. However, I think it is important that we recognize those staff that make the most positive contributions to CF on behalf of the membership. I'm far more concerned about that than whether their staff supervisor has glowing words for them.
I think this is important enough to go and do a little research into who some of our moderators are, and who's stepping up to the plate to make themselves accessible to, and to interact with, and to serve the members.
In light of all this, I think I can confidently recommend that any member of this forum who is undecided about whom to vote for in this poll will serve themselves well in joining me in casting their ballot for:

Please forgive me if this turns into a wet blanket, but shouldn't it be the members and not the staff who vote for moderator of the month? It seems to be a conflict of interests that the majority of votes come from staff.
If there is a better place for me to ask this question, please let me know. Thank you.

Everyone on CF is allowed to vote for the MOTM.
We try to make it as public as possible. But everyone who is a member on CF is welcome to vote.

I can see your point, however, this is very different from an election. In an election the people, all the people, select a public servant who is not only answerable to the people, but who serves at the discretion of the people.
I would think that the "moderator of the month" would be a chance for the membership to give input on what it is we feel makes a person a good moderator and who it is we believe to be the best examples of those qualities.
As it stands, It seems more a chance for the staff to more or less "pat each other on the back."

MOTM is the chance members have to give input. A 'regular' member came up with the idea and presented it to Erwin.
That member was on staff with the Forum Focus (CF newspaper) -
The newspaper now sponsors Mod of the Month.
.
Redstiletto happens to be a moderator but is also on staff at the paper and one of her duties (unless she is unable) is to post MOTM each month, in this forum.
Perhaps it seems a way for staff to pat others on the back, but that is not how it is set up. Every member is able to vote no matter whether they volunteer as a mod, or some other area, or not. MOTM is open to all. I don't know why more non-staff members don't vote, but it is open to all.
If you have any suggestions as to how to get the word out, please offer them. I would love to read them! Or, you can pm me if you prefer.
MOTM is also mentioned in every single issue of the Forum Focus, which can be found by clicking here. (http://news.christianforums.com/christian-news-1).
This forum is also open to all members and is frequented by many, but you are correct in that more non-staff members should consider voting. I can't say for certain, but I'd think staff members would like that also.

I have no problem with the concept. I actually find it to be a very good idea. My concern is that the winner of the poll with 24 votes won because of 16 staff votes. A full half of the votes were from staff. Is this the case for previous manifestations of the poll?
Redstiletto
4th June 2007, 02:38 PM
Well we circulate the word around CF and whoever wants to vote can vote.
More staff just happen upon this because it is a poll about staff.
ClarityofPurpose
4th June 2007, 02:44 PM
Do you understand why I find the whole thing questionable? 24 votes for the winner - 16 from staff. eliminate the staff votes and there is a very different result. Now, as I have not been here long enough to know any of these moderators, please do not think I am criticizing any of them. I am merely voicing concern over a system where in effect staff are patting each other on the back. I cannot take the results seriously when half the votes and more than half the winners votes are from people with a very different point of view from the membership.
Redstiletto
4th June 2007, 02:48 PM
Well then get more members to vote if you want to see it differently.
This is not something that has been around long and we are working out a new system to do it.
ClarityofPurpose
4th June 2007, 04:30 PM
I can only see two changes which should be done:
Limit voting to members. Staff can duplicate and name their own MOTM. Use the Announcement system to silicate participation.

I did not know this even existed until after the poll was closed. I will however do so in the future.
