Dear friends of Romania,
You are cordially invited to the Romanian Spring Festival
organized by the Holy Cross Parish on May 20, 2007. This event
supports the project of building the new Romanian Orthodox
Church St. Andrew. The Festival has become an endeared
tradition for all Romanians and their friends living in the
Washington-Virginia-Maryland area. The organizers have tried
to make this year’s event a special one, by inviting a number of guests and preparing many
cultural and culinary surprises. The Festival will take place in the Carderock Park, MD, between
8 am and 8 pm, regardless of wheather conditions.
The Program includes:
• Extraordinary folk music concert and poetry recital featuring renown Romanian
artists Florian Pittiş şi Ducu Bertzi, honored guests of the Festival, whose
presence was facilitated by the Romanian Institute for Culture, whom we thank for their
support.
• Traditional folkloric music concert interpreted by Mioara Pitulice, former soloist
of the Ciocārlia ensemble.
• Traditional Romanian music and dances interpreted by the Ardeleana Ensemble
and professional dancers, former members of the Ciprian Porumbescu Ensemble, which,
on repeated occasions, have enchanted us with their performance and have helped raise
funds for the new church.
• Autograph session with Gheorghe (Ghiţă) Mureşan, former Washington
Wizards’ basketball player and Aurelia Dobre, 1987 Romanian World Champion artistic
gymnast.
• Icon Exhibit by Maria and Valentin Ciucur, renown Romanian iconographers and
members of the Holy Cross Romanian Church.
• Painting exhibit by Romanian artist George Cristian Huszar.
• A bountiful Romanian menu, including: mititei (traditional Romanian sausage),
sarmale (stuffed cabage), grilled chicken, meatball soup, and many traditional desserts,
accompanied by Romanian wines, beer, and sodas.
• Many other surprises.
We are looking forward to seeing you at the Festival! Bring your friends!

Sounds awesome! I'd love to, but I'm in TN. We have something similar with St. George Greek down here with a Greekfest.

I live in Romania. I've received the link from a brother from US and thought that those of you who live near by would enjoy it.

The church of the Holy Cross is the one of Fr Calciu, may his memory be eternal.
